2004 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sti - Silver W/ 90k Miles - 308awhp/318awtq! on 2040-cars
Binghamton, New York, United States
The time has finally come for me to sell my 2004 Impreza WRX STi. I've absolutely loved owning this car, but it is time to get something a bit more economical and practical, since our family is growing. In a nutshell, the only reason I'm selling is to get out from under the car payment, and the fact that it requires 93 octane and I do A LOT of driving. I'm in the process of purchasing a bigger commuter car which gets better mileage and doesn't require premium. Otherwise, I'd love to keep this car. Anyway, here is the run down...
The Bad: - Driver side ball joint recently started making noise. I have the new Moog joint which I will include with the purchase. - The usual small dings/rock chips from daily driving, with one rock chip that cracked a portion of paint on the front bumper. (just the paint, not the bumper itself) The Good: - I replaced the brakes with cross drilled/slotted rotors and ceramic pads within the last year. I also have a set of Hawk HPS pads and stainless brake lines I'll include with the purchase for your next brake job (although that won't be required for some time) - The Continental DWS tires are new with less than 4k miles on them. - Aligned at the time the new tires were mounted and balanced. - New belts and battery installed in the fall of last year. - Freshly charged A/C less than one year ago, done by Matthews. - Headlights have been replaced with new 2005 lights which are in excellent condition, and I have a spare light assembly which I'll include. - I have a pitch stop mount for the engine, which although is not installed will be included. - Car was professionally tuned by Innovative Tuning in Buffalo, and made 308awhp/318awtq on their mustang dyno (I have the dyno sheet). In reality, that translates to around 330awhp and 340awtq. The car really is a solid car with very few mechanical needs. Essentially, the only thing I can think of is the driver side ball joint. I drove it down to the Outer Banks for a wedding last year and averaged 29mpg on the highway. Needless to say, it is excellent in the snow with the new DWS tires. I was just underneath it checking things over a few hours ago, and there are no leaks anywhere. In addition, the car really doesn't consume anything (oil wise) in between changes. It should be mentioned that this 04 STi has an engine and turbocharger from a 2007 STi. Although the mileage can't truly be verified, that engine/turbo allegedly had 35k on it when I purchased the vehicle. The swap was verified by Innovative up in Buffalo NY, and you're more than welcome to confirm that as well. As can be seen in the pics, overall the car is in very good condition. As far as modifications go, it has a Perrin front mount intercooler, ACT clutch, Greddy turboback exhaust, cone air filter (not sure of brand), and a great tune from Innovative. To be clear, the idle is at 1500 RPMs in the picture of the gauge cluster because I'd just started the car. It will settle down to less than 1000 RPMs when warm. Also, all of the power windows work just fine. I simply had the driver/passenger window down during the pictures to let some heat out. The miles are low for the year, with just a little over 90k on the clock. Please, no low ballers, joy riders, or tire kickers. Don't waste my time and yours. ***SERIOUS BUYERS ONLY***!! Do NOT bid unless you intend to buy. If you are new to eBay and/or have 0 feedback, PLEASE contact me before bidding. Lastly, the buyer will be responsible for either picking up the car or arranging for shipment. I will work with you to get the car where it needs to go (local shipping point), if you are planning on having it shipped. If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask. Thanks for looking, and happy bidding! |

2013 Subaru WRX Special Edition
Fri, 14 Dec 2012Two months ago, I was carving pumpkins in a canyon - last week, I was carving canyons in a pumpkin. I genuinely prefer the latter.
It's hard to miss the 2013 Subaru WRX Special Edition. The twins (the automaker is offering the package on both the WRX and its higher-performing STI sibling - just 300 copies in total) arrive in Tangerine Orange paint with Jet Black wheels, black exterior mirrors and black front fender badges. The purely cosmetic upgrades are carried inside the cabin with black cloth upholstery contrasted with orange stitching on the seats, doors, shift boot and piping on the floor mats.
After a day, I completely forgot about the controversial orange paint (you either love or hate its burnt pumpkin color) and focused on the simple joy of driving the rally-inspired Subaru WRX.
Days 3-5: Our 4 favorite Patagonia timelapse videos | Subarus in South America
Sat, Feb 20 2016Sorry for the break in daily updates, Autoblog In Patagonia fans. McGraw and I spent the last two nights at a hotel so remote, it doesn't even technically have an address – just coordinates. We barely had wifi access and couldn't even get a cell signal most of the time, but now we're back with another quick update about our adventures in South America. Since our last writing, we hopped in a Subaru Forester and checked out the massive Perito Moreno glacier, crossed the border into Chile and spent all of Thursday inside the Torres del Paine national park. We drove Outbacks and Crosstreks on some truly epic dirt roads up and down mountains, and even took a break to do a little fishing (we can't work all the time). Friday, our journey took us even more south to Punta Arenas, Chile, and on Saturday we'll cross the Straits of Magellan and head back into Argentina, to fulfill our quest of driving to the southernmost drivable point in the world (outside of Antarctica). Since we've had lots of time on our hands, we decided to take some timelapse videos of the epic scenery here in Chile, and that's what we're bringing you this time around, in the video above. We'll have another update soon. In the meantime, check out our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds to see what we've posted on our very spotty cell coverage. We can't wait to show you everything we experienced when the big, final story comes out later this month. Auto News Subaru Videos patagonia autoblog in patagonia
Subaru shows racing versions of STI and BRZ
Fri, Jan 9 2015While we gear up for next week's Detroit Auto Show, the 2015 Tokyo Auto Salon is currently on going, and Subaru has marked the occasion by trotting out a pair of new racers. First up, we have the car shown above, with the company's entry to the 2015 Nurburgring 24 Hour Race. Subaru is entering a WRX STI in the grueling endurance race, which runs from May 14 to May 17. The left-hand-drive racer has received a fair crop of upgrades for endurance duty, although Subaru didn't really bother to elaborate on them, unfortunately. Next to the N24 car, Subaru introduced a striking version of its rear-drive BRZ, destined for the Japanese Super GT series. The team campaigning the BRZ will be led by Subaru's Hideharu Tatsumi, who will also be one of the drivers for the Nurburgring effort. Again, Subaru hasn't offered any info on technical changes for the BRZ GT300. Scroll down for the brief press release, and then check out the galleries of both cars. 2015 SUBARU Motorsport Activities Tokyo, January 9, 2015 – Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI) - the maker of Subaru automobiles and Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI)* unveiled the new racing car developed from the WRX STI for 24 Hours Nurburgring endurance race in 2015 and announced an outline of Subaru Motorsport activities for 2015 at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2015 with NAPAC (Japan Car Parts and Aftermarket Promotion Association). *: Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI; President Yoshio Hirakawa; located in Mitaka, Tokyo) Nurburgring 24-Hour Race STI will participate in the Nurburgring 24-Hour Race (from 14 to 17 May in Germany) for eight consecutive years, with a vehicle whose performance has been enhanced from its base car – the Subaru WRX STI. The race car's performance such as aerodynamics, stability, body rigidity and engine output have been enhanced compared to the previous model. In addition, visibility for racing flags has also been improved by introducing a left-hand drive car. Like last year, Hideharu Tatsumi will take the helm of team operations as team manager, in addition to the development of the car. The drivers are Sasaki (Japan), Lasee (Germany), van Dam (Netherlands) and Tim Schrick (Germany), the winner of 2014 VLN endurance racing championship who newly joins the team. SUPER GT Series Subaru, with the "SUBARU BRZ GT300" race car, will participate in the SUPER GT series this year as well, widely regarded as Japan's top motorsports category.
