2002 Subaru Impreza Wrx Sedan 4-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
United States
This is a clean, nice, fast, nearly stock 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX. This car is awesome. It is all-wheel drive with a turbo charger. It runs great all year round in any weather. It has 160k miles on the body, but the engine was rebuilt about 50k miles ago with a 2.5 liter STi top half. This means it is basically an STi engine without all of the extra weight of the STi model WRX. We also just had a new clutch put in it about 4000 miles ago and replaced the rear main seal while they had it apart. It also has an upgraded air intake, short-shifter, turbo-guage and subwoofer, all built with the car as add-on options from the factory. The body has a few light scratches here and there, but overall, this car is in excellent shape. It has been very well taken care of. It hasn’t been raced or rodded or run hard. I drive it to work a few days a week and once in a while for a date night with my wife. The owner before me was a Subaru technician in Lee’s Summit who rebuilt the engine and took good care of it when he owned it as well. I love this car, and I know how rare it is. When I was looking to buy this car, it took me a while to find one in nice shape that hadn’t been raced or torn apart and put back together by some kid trying to make it go faster. I would love to keep it around just to drive it for fun, but we needed a bigger vehicle for our growing family. It’s time to pass it on to a new owner who has the time to really drive it and enjoy it. |

IIHS says these are the safest cars of 2013
Wed, 02 Jan 2013The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has revealed its annual list of Top Safety Picks, an award that highlights automobiles it says offer "superior crash protection." A new and still more significant award, the Top Safety Pick+ honor, is given to those vehicles that earn good ratings for occupant protection in four out of five areas of measure. And while some 117 vehicles were given the TSP seal of approval for 2013, just 13 passed muster for TSP+.
To be fair, IIHS only evaluated 29 vehicles with its new testing procedures for TSP+ (we'd expect that the number of qualified cars will rise substantially for 2014). Luxury and Near Luxury midsize cars were the first groups evaluated, followed by midsizers in the Moderately Priced Cars category - unsurprisingly, it's only midsize cars that you'll find among the class this year.
Only two luxury sedans made the list of 13 for 2013: the Acura TL and Volvo S60. The other 11 cars on the list included entries from domestic, Japanese and German car makers: Dodge Avenger, Chrysler 200, Ford Fusion, Honda Accord (sedan and coupe), Kia Optima (but not its close kin, the Hyundai Sonata, strangely), Nissan Altima, Subaru Legacy and Outback, Suzuki Kizashi and the Volkswagen Passat all made the grade.
Toyota to offer sedan version of GT 86?
Fri, 11 Oct 2013Sources in Australia are reporting that we'll be seeing a small, rear-drive sedan from Toyota, based on the GT 86/Scion FR-S. Yes, a convertible variant is still in limbo, but a four-door sedan is in the works. It's unclear if the rumored GT 86 sedan would spawn Scion and Subaru variants (it's hard to cross all ten fingers while you type, but we're having a go).
Working with remarks made by the car's chief engineer Tetsuya Tada in his blog and a rendering from Japanese magazine Holiday Auto, the Australian site Motoring is claiming that the new model's wheelbase will grow about four inches over the current GT 86's 101.2-inch wheelbase.
Besides the larger overall space between the axles, the sedan will offer a more potent engine option over the current 2.0-liter, flat-four. Promising 268 horsepower, which is a big jump over the current car's 200 ponies, the new powertrain will be derived from the Hybrid R setup, shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show. If, like us, you're reaching for the salt, and we don't blame you.
Subaru prices limited edition Hyper Blue models
Sat, Sep 5 2015In the market for a new Subaru BRZ or WRX STI but aren't interested in World Rally Blue or any of the other shades on offer? Prefer your car look like a very loud, boxer-powered smurf? Then get in line for one of the limited-edition Hyper Blue models. We've covered these two before, but now, Subaru has released the pricing details on the rare models. All 500, manual-only Hyper Blue BRZs will be sold for $28,845, or just $655 more than the 2016 BRZ Limited 6MT. If you prefer more power and an extra set of doors, the 700 special-edition STI demands $39,790, which is $4,300 more than the base STI, but $1,000 less than the range-topping Limited model. In addition to their paint, the Hyper Blue models add black alloy wheels – 17-inchers for the BRZ and 18-inch BBS-branded hoops for the STI – black badges, and black wing mirrors. In the case of the BRZ, the cabin even gets Hyper Blue accents throughout the cabin, including contrast stitching on the seats, shift boot, and emergency brake handle.
