Up for sale is my 1999 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS 2-door coupe. I am the second owner. In the last year, I have had the brakes, clutch, timing belt, water pump, right front axle, spark plugs, and all gaskets replaced. I also had Michelin tires put on the car in the summer of 2011, and after roughly 15,000 miles, they have plenty of tread left. There is a minor rattle and steering wheel shake from about 60-75 mph that a tire tech attributed to fix-a-flat that I had needed to use on two of the tires after I ran over some nails--but he told me that unless I found it to be very bothersome (which I have not), there was no need to replace them, and I've driven several thousand miles with no problems since then. As you will see, I have got New York plates (and clean New York title in hand), but live in Denver, where I moved in August for grad school.

The interior is very clean, with the rare custom leather that you will only find on a handful of RSes. (I do have the 2.5 RS floor mats, as well as all-weather mats, which will be included, but did not make it into the pictures because I was having them cleaned at the time). The exterior is also in nice shape, as you will see from the attached pictures. There are scratches on the left rear bumper, and front bumper, as documented in the pictures. Other than that, there are simply a few minor scratches and dings that would only be spotted if one was looking closely for them, and the original paint has held up very well.

The engine, 5-speed manual transmission, and brakes all work flawlessly. Except for the performance shocks that the previous owner had put on the car, this RS is entirely stock, and I can say with confidence that you will be hard pressed to find another one of these increasingly rare cars in such nice shape. On that note, I recently learned that only 1,500 manual RSes were produced in 1999 (for more info, see cars101.com), and when you consider how many have been destroyed or modified, cars such as this one are rapidly becoming even harder to find. This is reflected in their actual sales prices, which for nice examples, have been considerably higher than KBB listings--and from what I understand, the value of these cars has actually been going up in the last couple years.

This car is a lot of fun to drive, is reliable, and gets very solid gas mileage (usually 27+ mpg per tank)--and with the work that I've recently had performed on it, am confident that it will be good to go for quite awhile. I am sure that both the Subaru enthusiast and someone looking for a fun, safe, reliable car, will be equally happy with its purchase. I am simply selling because I found a deal on a newer car that was too hard to pass up. If you need help with shipping, and you are far outside of the Colorado area, I will be glad to work with whatever company you hire, or to pick you up from Denver International Airport if you want to fly in and drive it home yourself.

Please do note that I will also have the car for sale locally, so reserve the right to end the listing should I find a buyer here. Thanks very much for looking, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

2015 Subaru Legacy prototype caught testing in Michigan

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

The current Subaru Legacy is only three years old, but compared to rival midsize sedans like the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion, which have recently received thorough redesigns, it might as well be a million. In other words, a reworking is in order. Caught in these spy shots, the 2015 Subaru Legacy appears to be about the same size as the current model, but it appears that Subaru is looking to push the sedan a little more upmarket in terms of styling and luxury.
Despite the heavy camouflage, some elements of the new Legacy's design are still visible. The new headlights still have a scalloped shape but are much narrower, and we can also see the deep body creases that run the full length of the sedan. At the rear of the new Legacy, the taillights should get some added depth with a C-shaped brake light design similar to what we saw on the WRX Concept earlier in the year.
Showing that Subaru is aiming a little bit higher for this Legacy, this car is being benchmarked against all-wheel-drive luxury vehicles like the current Infiniti G37 and the Audi Allroad - the latter is likely for comparison with the Legacy's wagon version, the Outback. Following the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, we expect the 2015 Legacy to be the next Subaru product to get a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, which we hear will be paired with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a CVT and, of course, all-wheel drive.

2018 Buick Regal TourX vs. wagon competitors: How it compares on paper

Wed, Jan 31 2018

To the great joy of auto enthusiasts nationwide, wagons are back! Well, at least there's a few more of them. The latest is the 2018 Buick Regal TourX, which we just had our first drive of and found to actually be quite good with pleasant handling, solid power and plenty of space. But, how does the TourX compare to other cladded wagons? Well, let's dive into the specs and fire up the ol' spreadsheet maker for Buick Regal TourX vs Subaru Outback vs Audi A4 Allroad vs VW Alltrack vs Volvo V60 Cross Country. True, some are from mainstream brands and others are from luxury marques, but Buick straddles both realms, so it's appropriate to look at them all. Of course, there's more to these cars than just the numbers, but they're still important, and in the case of this class of crossover-aping wagons, can vary more than you'd expect. So check out the specs in the chart below, which are followed by more analysis and photos of each. Discover and compare other wagons and crossovers with our Car Finder and Compare tools. Engines and Transmissions When comparing powertrains, the Buick is far-and-away the winner as far as torque is concerned, and is in a nearly three-way tie for horsepower. Its 295 pound-feet of torque is 22 lb-ft more twist than the next-most-grunty Audi A4 Allroad. And in regards to power, the Buick's 250-horsepower engine is only down 6 hp to the most-powerful Subaru and its optional naturally aspirated flat-six, and just 2 hp less than the Audi. At the bottom of the pack is the Subaru Outback with the standard naturally aspirated flat-four, which only makes 174 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque. That may not seem too bad compared with the VW Golf Alltrack, which only makes 170 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, but the VW is much lighter by between 200 and 300 pounds. Transmission-wise, there's quite a bit of variation in the group. The Regal TourX and the Volvo V60 Cross Country rely on eight-speed automatics, all Outbacks use CVTs, and the Alltrack and Allroad have dual-clutch automated manual transmissions with six and seven gears, respectively. But for people that want to shift for themselves, the only option is the Volkswagen, which offers a traditional six-speed manual transmission on the Golf Alltrack. Cargo and Interior Space One of the main reasons to buy a wagon is for the body style's large cargo capacity. And for the most space for things and stuff, you'll want to check out the Subaru and the Buick.
