1998 Subaru Impreza RS 2.5L AWD 5-Speed

Let me start by making this very clear: THIS CAR DOES NOT RUN. It has a blown head gasket. The engine turns over freely but doesn't have any compression. I bought the car this way because it had a JDM 22B Wing on it that I wanted (Now removed) for my 2001 RS. Now that I have the wing, the rest of the car is up for grabs. The car is complete other than the missing wing. The kid I bought it from said he was driving it and it started to sputter and he noticed it had started to run hot. He pulled over and the car died and wouldn't start again. The mechanic shop that he had it towed to (on a roll back) said that the Oil and Water was dumping into the exhaust, meaning it has a blown head gasket. The guy called me directly and asked if I was interested in buying it (I'm the local Subaru guy where I'm from).

I have seen this car run and drive before, so I know everything else works on it. I met the guy 4 weeks before he blew the head gasket, but I never actually drove it myself.

The kid that had it, really didn't know anything about the car. He bought it the way it looks now (aside from the body damage he caused). So I did a little looking and this is what I have found so far:

JDM STI Carbon Fiber Strut Tower Bar
JDM STI Carpet
JDM STI Guage Pod
JDM STI Plug Wires
LAMCO Guages
Slotted/Drilled Rotors
16" "Goldies" OEM Wheels
Greddy temp sensor

This is the rarest year of the Impreza RS, because it has the DOHC engine, a more colorful 90's style interior than the 99-01, and an upgraded from the factory "L" bumper. This would be a very profitable project for anyone to start with. The car is located in Leary TX and can be viewed anytime by appointment. 2015 Subaru Legacy

Wed, 21 May 2014

Subaru has a problem on its six-starred hands, but you wouldn't know it at first glance. Sales are up; in fact, the Japanese automaker has recorded 28-straight months of increased sales in the United States, leading to the best first-quarter Subaru has ever recorded, and 2014 will almost assuredly be the seventh straight year it has posted improvements. So, what's wrong? The answer is simple, though clearly complicated to resolve. Sedans - specifically, midsize examples - have proven a tough nut for Subaru to crack.
The vast majority of those impressive sales statistics have come from just a few models, namely the Forester, Outback and XV Crosstrek. The Impreza continues to sell at a respectable pace, but it's telling that the XV, after just three years on the market, is already Subaru's third-best-selling nameplate, outpacing the aforementioned Impreza (on which it's based), its high-performance WRX sibling and the Legacy, which is now entering its sixth generation, having been first introduced way back in 1989. It's that last model we're examining today.
Despite the fact that the Legacy plays in a hotly contested market segment that includes such stalwart sales champions as the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Ford Fusion and Nissan Altima, Subaru's competitor registers as a barely visible blip on the radars of new-car buyers. Graphically illustrated another way, Toyota sells 17 Camry sedans for every new Legacy that Subaru moves.

2015 Subaru Legacy prototype caught testing in Michigan

Tue, 30 Jul 2013

The current Subaru Legacy is only three years old, but compared to rival midsize sedans like the Mazda6 and Ford Fusion, which have recently received thorough redesigns, it might as well be a million. In other words, a reworking is in order. Caught in these spy shots, the 2015 Subaru Legacy appears to be about the same size as the current model, but it appears that Subaru is looking to push the sedan a little more upmarket in terms of styling and luxury.
Despite the heavy camouflage, some elements of the new Legacy's design are still visible. The new headlights still have a scalloped shape but are much narrower, and we can also see the deep body creases that run the full length of the sedan. At the rear of the new Legacy, the taillights should get some added depth with a C-shaped brake light design similar to what we saw on the WRX Concept earlier in the year.
Showing that Subaru is aiming a little bit higher for this Legacy, this car is being benchmarked against all-wheel-drive luxury vehicles like the current Infiniti G37 and the Audi Allroad - the latter is likely for comparison with the Legacy's wagon version, the Outback. Following the XV Crosstrek Hybrid, we expect the 2015 Legacy to be the next Subaru product to get a gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, which we hear will be paired with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a CVT and, of course, all-wheel drive.

Toyota GT86 engineers explored shooting brake and sedan variants, are they still in the cards?

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

According to the Toyota UK blog, engineers for the automaker were so excited developing the GT86 coupe that they investigated producing a whole family of models based on the rear-wheel drive sports car. And at least one engineer - product chief Tetsuya Tada - still hopes it can happen, even if not everyone at Toyota is onboard. Tada: "Actually we tried to do this secretly but the executives found us out. They said: 'What are you doing? Will you please focus on the coupe.'"
Those mooted variants included both a four-door sedan and a shooting brake. Why? Aside from the pure excellence of a lightweight, brilliantly handling hatchback, Toyota was keenly aware of the fact that it may need to spread the cost of development out across several models. Tada says that's part of the reason why it was so easy to create the convertible. The company knew from the outset that a softtop version was in the cards, and built the machine's structure to accommodate having the roof sliced off.
Tada also made mention of the already-announced collaboration between Toyota and BMW. The engineer said that the GT86 was particularly helpful because it demonstrated just how successful a product conceived and designed by two different companies can be. While he didn't say exactly what Toyota and BMW are up to, it's clear the two are looking into a number of possibilities. It's an interesting read with a lot of
