I had this car for nearly 2 years.  This car ran absolutely GREAT!  Even the last night it ran, there was no indication of an engine problem.  I went to start it the following morning and it wouldn't start.  I learned that the engine had seized.  Everything else is good. Looks great. Heat and AC works GREAT--the A/C on this car puts newer cars to shame! Good tires with plenty of tread--I bought brand new (matching) front tires less than 2 months ago. Heated seats work great. Clutch works great. Interior still looks good. It's been an extremely reliable car.  We liked it so well, we bought another Forester... I'm sure I don't have to explain it's capabilities to Subaru drivers.  I'll just say get this Forester, drop an engine in it and join me in the snow!! Caution: You will no longer have a weather-related excuse for getting to work or school late!

Updated info: I've added photos (taken tonight Dec 15, 2013). The seats have no tears or anything.  Carpet is good too. On the drivers side the carpet under the pedals are pretty worn... I was just going to get floor mats the week the engine stopped. By-the-way, the cargo cover and the cargo area spill tray are in my garage... I'll toss those into the car when it's sold.  I took them out because I don't want to tempt a thief. Thank you for looking!

Autoblog goes on an African safari, Subaru-Style

... And Learns To Love The Ostrich
Subaru may be the ostrich of the Japanese auto industry.
When one thinks of a safari, they naturally draw pictures in their mind's eye of wild animals, like lions, elephants and giraffes. I'm no different, and it was with visions of long telephoto lenses over vast runes and dunes that I embarked on a 19-hour plane ride from Phoenix, Arizona to Plettenberg Bay in South Africa, camera gear in tow.

Subaru readying special-edition BRZ

Fri, 14 Feb 2014

Another week coming to a close brings another rumor of a potential hotted-up version of the Subaru everyone wants to turbocharge, the BRZ.
A fresh rumor out of the Car and Driver offices makes the claim that a new, special-edition BRZ model will be offered up within the next few months. Word is that the new model will not get similar upgrades to the recent BRZ tS (seen above) for the Japanese market, meaning we're likely in for a cosmetic update instead of a functional one.
The looks of the tS could still be in the cards, however, meaning swapped-out lip spoiler, wheels and even STI badging might be on the way.

We drive a Subaru to one of the world's largest glaciers

Wed, Feb 24 2016

Now that we're back from Patagonia, senior video producer Chris McGraw is emptying out his camera memory and putting together a number of short clips showing the various places we visited along the journey. (Yes, we wanted to upload these last week, but had little to no wifi connectivity along the way.) In this latest video, we bring you the sights from our trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina, and a look at the roads leading into Chile. Our chariot for what was actually Day 3 of the trip was a Subaru Forester, which had no problem tackling the rough dirt and gravel roads through Patagonia, and was an excellent cruiser for the twisty paved roads leading into the Andes mountain range. The Perito Moreno Glacier is massive – roughly three times the size of Manhattan – and is one of only a few glaciers in Patagonia that's still growing. It is truly an awesome sight – one that's hard to describe, because when you see it, you just sort of stand there, mouth agape, fascinated. We've got a few more clips in the works, including our full Patagonia feature video. Stay tuned, and enjoy the view.
