Email to drive it tonight!
Vehicle is in great condition. I love this car, but currently have 3 cars and am moving out of state. Unfortunately, the Baja has to go. If your interested, email me and we can set up a visit or a phone call so I can give you more information. This vehicle has been very well maintained, and has a lot of recent maintenance. I made every effort to replace any system or part that was worn so that the future owner could enjoy a trouble free vehicle.
The Baja Turbo is the ultimate functional vehicle - fast, sporty, able to carry 4 people, has a truck bed, and can tow. Rides like a sports car, hauls like a truck. The bed is made larger by a flip down door behind the rear seats (see picture). This car can carry 20' 2x4's without a problem. Mobil 1 Full synthetic oil changes every 3,000 miles. Tires have plenty of tread (at least 75%). See my additional pictures for more information, including the full CarFax report.
Asking Price:
Kelly Blue Book is listed at $13,181. I have reduced the buy it now price to $12,550, and this Baja will move quickly. Don't miss out! I also have this listing on Autotrader.com, and I reserve the right to end the auction early if it sells elsewhere.
Upgrade Parts:
I installed a hitch on the back, but have only towed one time. I installed a turbo boost pressure gauge on the steering column. The turbocharger was replaced at 79,000 miles, and at that time the up-pipe was replaced with a high flow unit. This reduces turbo lag time and exhaust back pressure without any change to drivability or reliability. I hard wired a Garmin GPS unit to the car, so it automatically turns on when the car does. It's tucked up at the top of the A-Pillar so thieves won't take notice. The Thule roof rack bars are awesome for putting your surfboard or luggage on top without scratching your cargo or the car!
New maintenance parts: (I have receipts for all of these brand new parts)

All timing belt pulleys
Timing belt tensioner

Ac compressor belt

This car is ready to rock and has all the major systems refreshed...This means just put gas in and drive, no hassles! Email with any questions and I can respond via email, or leave your phone number and I'll call you and answer any questions. Thanks for looking.

2015 Subaru WRX: Road trip to Maine [w/video]
Fri, Nov 28 2014After driving one of the best sport compacts on the market to one of the best-driving-roads states in the Union, who'd have thought that one of my big takeaways would be... great fuel economy? And yet, after putting more than 2,200 miles on our long-term 2015 Subaru WRX, driving from Ann Arbor, MI, to The Great State of Maine and back, my overall fuel consumption figures were almost as baffling as the premium-gasoline prices throughout Canada. In the early part of the now-past autumn, my wife Molly and I were happy to make use of the long-term WRX for our annual road trip from Michigan to Maine. Our goal, as ever, was to fit as much hiking, boating and lobster eating as we could into a one-week span. And, with the sporting Scoobie as our ride this time, I also hoped to spend time bombing down some of my favorite roads through the White Mountains. Anyone that pays attention to the industry knows that New England is a hot spot for Subaru sales, but it turns out that the WRX is just about tailor made for enjoying the best of Maine, too. First up, though – as it was the most surprising to me – is the fuel economy story. I knew going into the trip that I'd log more than two grand on the odometer, but I never expected the returns to be quite so positive as they ended up netting out. My total observed economy over 2,226 miles was 28.38 miles per gallon, or just a fraction better than the EPA estimated highway number of 28 mpg. How'd I do that? My total observed economy over 2,226 miles was 28.38 miles per gallon. Well, for starters, the stretch of Canadian highway between Michigan and Vermont is exceptionally long, flat, straight and dull. Excepting the inevitable traffic around Toronto, the trip is mostly of the "set it and forget it" variety, typically at a cruise of about 72 miles per hour (so as not to attract the Mounties). Doing that haul, I had one tank of premium (15.9 gallon capacity) last for 466 miles, running a trip-best 31.9 mpg. Considering that the Canadian petrol was running me roughly five American bucks per gallon, I appreciated the Subie's newfound frugality. One small issue, tangentially related to fuel, did crop up on the road. The WRX's gas door stopped popping open when I pulled the lever after my second fill up. As it turned out, there is a technical service bulletin out for this very issue, which was looked after as soon as we got back to the States.
Subaru Global Platform shows us the bones of future models
Mon, Mar 7 2016Subaru will follow a current industry trend by introducing a modular chassis later this year, and the so-called Subaru Global Platform will underpin all of the Japanese automaker's future models. We'll see it first on the new Impreza, which will go on sale in the second half of 2016. Subaru claims its new platform offers 70-100 percent greater rigidity compared to the company's current models, and the stiffer chassis means less vibration travels through the vehicle to the steering wheel and seats, which results in an easier time for the driver. A 40-percent increase in impact energy absorption should also mean improved safety. Customers might experience a more exciting drive from the future Subarus, too. The company claims the new platform lowers the center gravity by 0.2 inches, which should sharpen handling. The engineers now mount the rear stabilizer directly to the body, which is said to reduce body roll by 50 percent over current models. It also supports hybrid, plug-in, and EV drivetrains to adapt to the future. After the Impreza lets us experience the Subaru Global Platform later this year, the company already has other models with it under development. For example, the XV Concept from Geneva hints at a sharper look for the next-gen compact crossover. The new WRX reportedly joins the range in 2017 and possibly gets an extra boost from hybrid power. A seven-passenger CUV also joins the US lineup in 2018. So much new product on the way could let Subaru keep up its brisk sales pace for years to come. (FHI), the manufacturer of Subaru automobiles, has unveiled an overview of the Subaru Global Platform, which is currently under development as the architecture to be used for all the Company's next-generation vehicles. The Subaru Global Platform is part of the six initiatives to enhance the Subaru brand described in the Company's mid-term management vision, "Prominence 2020," announced in 2014. Together with the horizontally-opposed engines, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD), and EyeSight that represent Subaru's core technologies, the new platform will constitute the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles.
Automotive April Fools' joke roundup [w/videos]
Mon, 01 Apr 2013Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools' Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it's always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we're still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools' joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro. We dug up as much "official" OEM foolishness we could find, as well as some of our other favorites, and posted them all below.
