This is a 2004 scion xB in great running condition with some minor cosmetic faults. The interior is mostly in good shape, but there are some small patches of dirt and small tears in the floor fabric lining near the gas pedal. The exterior paint is in decent condition, with some spots where the clear coat is cracking. This car was owned by my grandfather (he was the original owner), and I bought it from him in 2009... He took great care of the car, as have I. I do all of the maintenance myself and I'm fairly anal about having my daily driver in top running condition. I change the oil every 3k to 5k miles, using only synthetic oil and high quality filters (higher end fram or purolator filters). I use fuel treatments every 10k to 15k miles. I recently put all new brake rotors and pads on the front brakes and rebuilt the hardware; the back brakes were redone a couple years ago with new brake shoes and hardware. The AC compressor was replaced about a year ago and works perfectly. I've replaced the spark plugs recently with high quality iridium spark plugs, and also completely cleaned out the fuel injectors. I did 2 drain and fills on the transmission and replaced the transmission filter about 2 years ago and it works great. I've replaced the serpentine belt and water pump as well (as per manufacturer recommendation). All work I've done on the car was done using OEM Denso parts or high quality aftermarket parts, no cheap stuff. All in all, every thing works very well on the car with the exception of the right rear window, which needs a new motor and I haven't gotten around to it. Also, all work I've done with the exception of the AC Compressor, was done for maintenance purposes, not because things were broken. If you're interested, let me know if you want to come out and take a look at it or make an offer. Thanks!

Scion xB won't live past 2015
Sun, Jun 28 2015The grim reaper has trailed the Scion xB for three years, and in 2015, he swings his scythe. Scion VP Doug Murtha told WardsAuto last week that as of the end of this year, the xB will be gone. It will have lived just one year longer than the Scion xD, which was updated for the 2014 model year and at one point had been expected to live until the end of this year. As we've known for a while, the new Scion iM will replace the once-icon xB. Or perhaps that's 'supersede' the once-icon, since even company brass knows that the iM, which is Europe's Toyota Auris five-door hatchback, isn't a replacement for the unapologetic box that was the xB. The xB was one of the cubic trio – along with the first of its kind here, the Honda Element, and the aptly named Nissan Cube – all of which had a hard time figuring out a second act. The Kia Soul is the last of the proud geometric figures, and six years into its run here it is doing better than ever, 2014 being a record year for the model. The xB was well into its decline after the same amount of time on the market. Cars Direct says that if you want an xB then you shouldn't wait, and, "It might be a good idea to make a move soon." On the other hand, CD advises that "if you're looking for a better deal," then it's the Kia Soul you want. Insert that chestnut here about the mighty, and the falling. Related Video:
Rutledge Wood wins Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race in Long Beach
Sun, 21 Apr 2013Rutledge Wood took home the checkered flag at this year's Toyota Pro/Celebrity race at the Grand Prix of Long Beach. The Top Gear USA presenter, Fox Sports commentator and Honda Wagovan owner managed to take pole position in qualifying, but lost his lead early in the race to Mark Steines. Steines has competed in the Pro/Celebrity race four times so far, but the Hallmark channel host of Home and Family couldn't quite hold on to the lead. Wood eventually made up the ground he had lost for the win. This year, all the participants went fender to fender in identically prepared Scion FR-S racers.
Meanwhile, Adam Carolla took first in the Pro category, and Toyota donated $5,000 on behalf of each participant to Racing for Kids. The charity benefits children's hospitals in the Long Beach area, and this year Toyota donated a total of $90,000. Check out the full press release below for more information.
Scion rules out roadster, turbo versions of FR-S
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ever since Toyota and Subaru released the sports car alternatively known as the GT86, 86, BRZ and Scion FR-S a couple of years ago, rumors have circulated that even more exciting variants could be in store. But at least as far as Scion is concerned, those rumors are apparently nothing more than wishful thinking. Speaking with WardsAuto at the LA Auto Show last week, Scion chief Doug Murtha said that the prospect of an FR-S roadster has been taken off the table entirely. Apparently Scion lobbied parent company Toyota to produce just such a model, but after failing to find other markets interested enough in the model to put it into production, corporate HQ said no. "I think we were pretty aggressive on our (submitted plan), but we looked at what we would have conceivably lost on the product and said, 'We're not going to even push it further,'" Murtha said, going on to note, "Nobody was more disappointed than we were." Murtha further shot down the idea of a turbo version of the FR-S, dismissing it as a prospect the blogosphere (that's us) wanted to happen but "that's not something that's coming." Either variant might have helped Scion and Toyota boost sales of the model (which are predictably dropping after their first two years on the market), but the investment also might not have paid off their development, tooling and marketing costs. Of course, Murtha can only speak for Toyota, but we'd be surprised to see Subaru go it alone on either model, as costs would be that much more prohibitive without a partner. Bummer.
