Scion, Xb, Custom, Rare, Show Car on 2040-cars
Ashland, Kentucky, United States
Today we are happy to offer to you an exceptional Scion xB 2 door. This xb was professionally converted from a 5 door traditional xB to the two door version of which only five have been known to have been transformed. Should you win the auction I will provide pictures of the xB through the build process that the original owner took while building this scion. This Scion started its life as a navy blue xB that was purchased by the original owner when it was brand new. He began his build in the summer of 2006 and the build was completed in the summer of 2007. The original owner was sponsored by Bidgestone Tires , Matrix Paints and Bazooka Audio and 20 other full sponsorships. The xB is finished in Matrix Paints Sour Apple Green and the cockpit is finished in leather and fiberglass painted the same sour apple green as the exterior. The interior also features a 22 inch flatscreen and xbox gaming system and pioneer head unit. Behind the Drivers seat rest sixteen 10" Bazooka Subs powered by 10 Bazooka amps. The back hatch at the rear opens to reveal a small seeting area that is lit by neon and is finished in Matrix paints sour apple green. On the front and rear bumper a 6 inch speaker has been added so those not riding inside can also listen to the radio. The xB does have an air ride that controls the rear and the front remains stock. The car also has an extremely loud air horn that is controlled by a button underneath the seat. We are a New Toyota and Scion dealer and purchased this from the previous owner in 2008 to use as a marketing vehicle for our Scion Lineup . The only defects that I have included pictures of are the two in the back rear bumper almost at the bottom ( which were due to straps that we used to secure it when it was transported) and a crack that is in the rear compartment that was due to someone not securing the extreamly heavy rear door befor moving it , which caused a small crack that developed into the one you see today. Please feel free to email me or call me with any questions you may have. This car is a show car and not a daily driver , some modifications would have to be made and that would be left up to the buyer .

Buy a Toyota GT86 and your wife will hate you
Wed, 14 Nov 2012Marketing can be a very strange business. Convincing a man or woman (or child, really) that they absolutely cannot live without the latest, greatest new bit of technology oftentimes takes a unique approach. In the "online film promoting the Toyota GT86" you'll see below, created by agency Happiness Brussels, men are reverse-psychologied into thinking a new sports coupe will make them more masculine by getting their loved ones to hate them. Or something like that. We think.
In any case, we suggest you watch the video below to see how much fun men can have with a GT86 - or Scion FR-S or Subaru BRZ, presumably - at the expense of their significant others. Fair warning: There's a potential Not Safe For Work moment in the ad: beware of a brief male butt shot about 44 seconds in.
Marketing. Gotta love it. Unless you're married to a man. Or something like that. We think. Whatever, just watch.
Toyota CEO Lentz still envisions Scion as a small premium brand
Sat, Dec 6 2014Ward's Auto has published a piece on Scion that further confirms that we really have no idea what to expect from the brand. In speaking with Toyota USA CEO Jim Lentz about what was once firmly intended to be a hip, experimental youth brand, Lentz said, "I still personally believe small-premium is the direction we should be going." We'll walk right on by Lentz's use of the word "still" and focus on "small-premium" with the question: How? As much as we dig the FR-S, nothing in the brand's lineup can get within a whiff of the word "premium." It's even further away from being able to sniff the lifestyle-powered exhaust of a Mini or Fiat 500, and the production version of the forthcoming IM Concept (inset) will only draw it closer to its plain vanilla parent. Of course, Scion could head the premium way, but the amount of time and money needed to make it work would seem to go against everything the brand currently stands for. The murk stays just as murky when Lentz's words are placed next to those of Scion brand VP Doug Murtha, who spoke to Ward's at a different time. Murtha's response to the "small-premium" note was, "He may be having discussions at levels I'm not," and that such intent is "probably a longer-term proposition than we're looking at right now," with planning under way out to 2025. We're already being prepared for the iM to come in under $20,000, which will ensure the "attainability factor" of the "younger audience" that Murtha still views as Scion's base. And at the moment, Murtha is probably focused on adding desirability to the current lineup, halting the 14-percent year-over-year sales slide to a point that's just over half the annual volume necessary for profitability, and making sure he and his dealers have the support necessary to make the required splash with new product. Aside from all that, what might we expect? We know there'll be another product shown along with the production IM at the 2015 New York Auto Show, and Murtha isn't against a small crossover if they can come up with "something appropriately Scion-esque." So... there's that.
2014 Scion xD's available two-tone paint says 'I'm still here!'
Thu, 10 Oct 2013As we said in the title, the news here isn't a new, two-tone paint job for the Scion xD - it's that Scion is still building the oddly proportioned hatchback. For 2014, the xD will be available in two different color combinations, which will be split at the car's beltline.
The first combo, Magnetic Gray Metallic and Black Sand Pearl, puts the lighter shade on the bottom and the darker shade up top. The other combo, Sparkling Sea Metallic and Classic Silver Metallic (pictured), puts the more eye-catching color on the bottom.
Interested customers will need to shell out an additional $500 for the two-tone look. Other changes for the 2014 xD include a standard, 6.1-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth audio streaming and a iPod/USB connectivity.
