2003 SATURN ION BASE SEDAN 4DR. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, 4CYL 2.2 ECOTEC
Vehicle runs and drives 100% Great fuel economy, averaging 29-32mpg consistently between in town driving and highway driving. The engine is very quiet, no timing chain noise like most, the oil is regularly serviced every three thousand miles, I do NOT go by the oil life minder, if I did the service interval would be around 5500 miles for and LOF, that's too much in my opinion. The transmission shifts smooth, fluid was last flushed at 120K, the transmission was replaced by the previous owner around 92k. The vehicle was recently serviced at 134000, had spark plugs replaced, engine coolant/antifreeze, front brake pads, rear brake shoes, new tires (Falken Sincera SN211 P185/70R14), and new wheels (14x6"). The vehicle is equipped with the factory am/fm/cd/tape player that still sounds good for a factory system. The vehicle is NOT equipped with power windows and locks, this is a base model sedan. The vehicle is equipped with AC all though the compress clutch was making noise so I put a shorter belt on it so I did not have to listen to the noise, the system is still fully charged, it is possible to replace just the clutch, but I did not want to mess with it until the summer time if I choose to keep the car. The battery was recently replaced last week, the original one was starting to get week and developed a slow crank, so rather than be surprised when it was dead, I just replaced it. There is a minor paint marring on the right rear door, that was left to me in parking lot, I have not tried to buff it off yet, but I will so I figured I'd include a picture just incase it did not come off completely. There is a small dent in the top of the hood, not really noticeable but again just disclosing information. The only majorly noticeable flaw in the exterior is the paint fading on the front bumper, its still silver, just turned to a duller silver over the years. The rest of the vehicle's exterior is clean. The interior carpet is by far the worse part about the car, the carpet has been stained from dirt and grime and looks like it too. I have an appointment at a detailing center to attempt to have the carpets professionally cleaned, I will update a picture after that is completed to see how they come out, they've got to look better than they do now, there is a hole in the carpet where the drivers heel rest, its about 1.5 inches long and about an 1 inch high. The previous owner did smoke in the vehicle, its does not smell like it any more, but as with any smoker there are signs of it, by the left A-pillar in the headliner there are two small holes and one small hole on the left front seat, the rest of the car is OK. The vehicle must be picked up by the purchaser, there is a required $500 deposit that is due immediately at the end of the auction, the remainder is due within 48hrs. The buyer can arrange to have the vehicle picked up by carrier or drive in and pick it up, I will make sure it is ready to go with a full tank of fuel. Like I stated the vehicle is in excellent running condition, the buyer should be able to drive anywhere with this vehicle. I can arrange a partial delivery within a few hours of where I live for a nominal fee, to be determined between the purchaser and myself. For the Delaware bidders/purchaser the Delaware registration was recently renewed and is good through Feb of 2014, the plates and registration will go with the vehicle to eliminate the hassle for Delaware buyers. If further questions are needed to be answered please ask or email or feel free call me at 302-249-5040.
Please ask questions prior to bidding, bid with confidence.

US database may have overstated deaths in GM ignition switch recall
Fri, Mar 14 2014The FARS analysis didn't take into account fatal accidents where the airbags weren't supposed to deploy. Earlier today, we reported that the actual death toll attributable to GM's ignition switch problem had crested the 300 mark according to new research, well up from the original reports of 12 to 13 deaths. Now, word is breaking that the US government database that informed the study that the report was based on may have significantly overstated the correlation between the study and the GM recall. The initial study was conducted by Friedman Research on behalf of the Center for Auto Safety, and used something called the US Fatality Analysis Reporting System. To recap, the study claimed that over a 10-year period, 303 people were killed in Chevrolet Cobalt and Saturn Ion coupes and sedans when their airbags failed to deploy. These undeployed airbags were then linked to GM's ignition switch recall, which as we've explained before, can turn the ignition out of the "run" position and into the "off" or "accessory" position, disabling the airbags in the process. Now, according to a report from The Detroit News, which cites research from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Study Center for Trauma and EMS at the University of Maryland, the FARS analysis didn't take into account fatal accidents in conditions where the airbags weren't supposed to deploy (which isn't to say crashes and deaths weren't caused by loss of control from the ignition switching off in the GM vehicles). According to the report, this was a significant number of the cases. There is another potential problem, too. According to that same report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration uses both FARS and another database on fatalities, called the National Automotive Sampling System/Crashworthiness Data System (NASS/CDS). Where FARS uses what the DetNews calls "not always reliable" police data to record vehicular deaths within 30 days of a crash, NASS/CDS relies on what's known as a probability sample. It collects data on 5,000 crashes each year – including some found in the FARS database – to calculate a probability figure. According to a 2009 IIHS study, "Among crashes common to both databases, NASS/CDS reported deployments for 45 percent of front occupant deaths for which FARS had coded nondeployments." In plain English, FARS doesn't provide a reliable count airbag deployments.
Clever video selling Saturn Ion "sex machine" will catch your eye
Thu, 28 Feb 2013"When I think of the most impressive, industry changing, earth shattering vehicles of recent history, the first car that comes to my mind is the 2004 Saturn Ion Coupe." So says Brad Holt of Dallas, Texas. And he's right, clearly. One look at the specific specimen Holt is selling will be enough to convince you that the car "will absolutely tickle every one of your fancies," as claimed by the seller himself.
We suggest you watch the video below to see just how perfectly Holt's sex machine will fit into your life. The end result will no doubt be exactly as Holt ends his video: "You need it. Like a lot." You can also read more info from Brad in an interview here. If only our offices were a little closer to Dallas...
GM Recalling Another 2.7 Million Vehicles In Five Separate Campaigns
Thu, May 15 2014The recalls keep rolling in from General Motors, evidently keen to avoid repeating the mistakes of the ignition-switch debacle and clean house. This time they're all coming at once, with five separate recalls announced together covering approximately 2.7 million vehicles. The largest of the five actions involves over 2.4 million units of the previous-generation Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura in order to fix brake light wiring harness, which have been found to be susceptible to corrosion. The recall is separate from the 56k Aura sedans which GM recently recalled over faulty shift cables, not to mention the previous massive recall of 1.3 million vehicles – some of them the same models – but appears to have resulted from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation that started with the G6 almost a year ago. The second-largest campaign involves the 2014 Chevy Malibu, specifically those fitted with GM's 2.5-liter engine and stop/start system, approximately 140,000 examples of which has been found to have problematic brakes. The issue does not appear to be connected to the recall of 8k Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans (also involving brake woes) which we reported upon last week. Four crashes have been reported in such models, but GM admits it's not yet clear if the problem was a contributing factor in the accidents. A further 112k Corvette models from the 2005-2007 model years are being called in for problems with their low-beam headlamps resulting from a flexing relay control circuit wire that's not meant to bend. GM says it is "aware of several hundred complaints" about this issue, but notes that there have been no reports of related accidents. In addition, over 19k examples of Cadillac CTS from the 2013 and 2014 model years are being recalled over windshield wipers that might not work after a jump start. Finally, GM is also bringing in 477 examples of its 2014 Chevy Silverado, Tahoe and GMC Sierra (though not the Yukon) to fix a problem with a tie rod in its steering rack. As ever, all recall repairs will be performed free of charge, and GM is now estimating that recall-related actions this quarter will result in an estimated $200-million charge against its second-quarter earnings. Read the full announcement from GM below for further details.
