Saab 900s Non-turbo 5 Speed For Repair Or Project on 2040-cars
Sioux City, Iowa, United States
Here is a SAAB 900 I have up for sale. I have driven the car daily since January, with no problems. It starts everyday and actually runs well. The car comes with the original owners manual, and a Bentley Repair Manual. There are some things that need to be attended to. The following is a list of things that I am aware of: Anti-Lock light stays on, and the Check Engine light comes on occasionally. There is a mystery drip, which seems to be oil, I added half a quart in 5 months. The air conditioner does not work. The cruise control does not work. The windshield washer does not work. Everything else iI can think of at this time works fine. You can see from the photos that there are some freckles of rust in several places. And some actual rust warts bubbling up on one fender. The car needs shocks, which are included, but not installed. I installed a new starter, and former owner claimed to recently (in past 2 years) installed clutch, stainless/free flow cat-back exhaust, as well as windshield. I have the matching cloth for the cargo cover board which will need to be cut, with enough left over for the door panels. This car is not perfect, but is a solid base for a project. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate.

NEVS completes Saab purchase, earns right to brand name but not griffin badge
Mon, 03 Sep 2012
According to the Associated Press, a Hong Kong-based concern is close to building new Saab models. After some delays, National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has completed the purchase of bankrupt Swedish automaker Saab.
NEVS says it plans to debut an electric vehicle in about 18 months. When the car comes to market, it will wear the Saab name, but not the marque's well-known griffin logo. Reuters reports that the company will produce EVs based on the Saab 9-3 platform, with intentions to sell these vehicles primarily in the Chinese market. Due to the continued use of the distinctive griffin head logo by commercial truckmaker Scania and the Saab aerospace group, NEVS was only granted access to the Saab name, not its emblem.
Hot rod tractor stars in Swedish version of Farmkhana
Mon, 08 Sep 2014The Nordic countries are known for their beautiful fjords, blonde-haired populace and bitter cold for a good portion of the year. The hours spent indoors during the dark, cold season apparently gives a lot of time for some crazy brainstorming. Tire store chain Vianor is highlighting the Traktor Terror in a new video. If Ken Block is the master of Gymkhana, then these guys know all about Farmkhana in their custom, turbocharged tractor.
According to the YouTube description from Vianor, the tractor is a 1956 Volvo BM Terrier with an added roll cage, adjustable front suspension and extended frame. The engine is thoroughly Swedish, and it's based on a Volvo 940 Turbo with a Volvo 240 head and Volvo 740 intercooler. However, it uses a Saab turbo Prospark ignition and fuel system. All told, the setup is claimed to make 225 horsepower and is capable of a top speed of 60 miles per hour.
That's not crazy power, but this tractor can certainly put it down. The farm machine has no problem smoking those big rear wheels and drifts easily.... although, it may be a tiny little bit unstable (hence the roll cage). If nothing else, this looks like the world's most fun way to be a farmer, that's for sure.
eBay Find of the Day: 1985 Saab Turbo Limo is the ultimate high school reunion ride
Wed, 18 Jul 2012Yes, we've seen this 1985 Saab 900 Turbo limo for sale before. But somehow, this time is just seems more right. And we've got more pictures this go-around.
With the Saab brand now dormant and little hope for a true renaissance, save for one that comes in name only, Saab's future must lie in the celebration of great cars of its past. And what better way to celebrate the wonderful Saab 900 than to chop it in half and turn it into a freaking limousine?
Claimed to have been built by a Denver area Saab specialist, this five-speed manual 900 Turbo is listed with a Buy It Now of $8,500. It's actually surprisingly well turned-out, too, with a pretty decent interior that sticks to real Saab seats, avoiding the crushed-velvet or button-festooned lounge chair look. While this seems rather spendy for a well-used limousine, good luck finding another one like it. And besides, that's a lot less than the $12,500 asking price from back in 2010.
