This car is all SAAB. GM bought SAAB in 1998 and began to neuter it. This car has thicker sheetmetal from
SAAB. the engine is direct ignition 4 valve per cylinder with turbo. All gauges work. It has pushbutton sport selection as well. You don't have to use it though. if you do it will overboost and blast to the 6500 redline and push you hard into the seat and wipe off the smirks off of the faces of BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar owners all day long. Over and over. She is beautiful. Has brand new convertible top motor , new water pump, new belt, new pulley, new radiator as well as many other things. She has best infinity 3.5's in the dash stock look run off the 50 watts per channel kenwood cd player. She has Alpine 6.75's in the front of the doors and running parallel to them are the 6.75 Pioneer volcanics. These four are run off the front channel of the sony explode amplifier mounted on the inside wall of the trunk. The rear 6/9 Rockford Fosgates are run off the back channel of the sony explode amplifier. The sound is tremendous and life like at ear shattering volume. Even with the wonderful black convertible top down! and it hides under a panel so it does not look all wrinkly like the Jaguars do. and the convertible has defrost glass not yellow cheap plastic. it runs wonderfully. The engine was replaced around 50,000 miles ago. I only use Castrol full synthetic on her. She has her proper SAAB Aero rims and the tires are GOOD. She is an absolute joy to have and hold. You will be asked to talk about her everywhere you go. You will be part of a sub culture of SAAB owners. You thumb up each and other. The difference being is that you will have the BEST one. Black body , Black Leather and SAAB stained wood dash. This car is fantastic. There is so much to list and to learn as you go on your journey. So many details and features. This car listed at $44,000 1997 American dollars. I love her dearly with all of my heart. she will be missed but she will serve you in all of her glory and all will praise you every where you go. There is so much more to her than can possibly be listed. I must move on to a different part of my life buy she will forever be a part of me.

NEVS mulling electric Saab 9-3 convertible, looking for engine partners, too

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Do you believe in reincarnation? Like how we hope that, maybe, all of our hard work as auto writers will result in an eventual return as a swarm of beautiful butterflies. If you are a Saab fan, the equivalent could be this bit of news: The 9-3 Convertible may rise again, as an electric vehicle.
Word comes from the Dutch version of Autoweek that Chinese entity National Electric Vehicle Sweden (NEVS) has indicated that it will bring an electric version of the 9-3 Convertible to market in the next 18 months. The EV droptop would first debut in the Chinese market, but could expand, as could the lineup to other 9-3 variants, such as the sedan and SportCombi. A NEVS spokesperson has stated, "NEVS basically no doors holds." We're not sure if that's the spokesperson or the translation from the Dutch report, but you get the gist.
NEVS also indicated that conventionally powered versions of the 9-3 could be produced as well. The internal combustion engines could be the originally intended General Motors engines. Regardless of powerplant, we would be very eager to see Saab return, potentially as an EV to boot!

Son Surprises Mom With Dream Car

Thu, Aug 14 2014

We can't get enough of these dream car-reveals. Here's the latest one: A son wanted to treat his mom to the car she's had her eye on for years, but it wasn't a restored Porsche or a fancy 1957 Chevy Bel Air. This mom wanted something special – a 1973 Saab 99 EMS painted disco-fever copper. Ever since he was a kid, Corey Wadden's mom has wanted the Saab. Wadden writes on his YouTube video that she first hopped in the driver's seat of one of these odd retro rides while working as a cleaning lady. One of her clients would toss her the keys and let her move the car. She fell in love. After a year of searching and saving, this nominee for best son in the world brought his mom down to the parking lot, where her dream ride awaited. First, he handed her an envelope with a picture of the car and the keys, a dead giveaway. She quickly put two and two together, and lost it before making it to the parking lot. She is so happy and full of gratitude that she actually drops to her knees when he opens the door. Wadden writes on his page that his mom lost her job two-and-a-half years ago and hasn't had a reliable car in years. This car aims not just to get her mobile again, but lift her spirits. It's also part of the Toronto entrepreneur's promise to become a millionaire by the time he is 25 to help his mother retire. Related Gallery The Best Cars For Empty Nesters Weird Car News Saab

Petrolicious keeps our love of the Saab Sonett aflame

Wed, 19 Mar 2014

German auto designs lean toward function and purpose. Italian designers deliver passion and beauty. The Brits, majesty. American cars, brashness and authority. If you want a funky design, though, you go to Sweden. The land of cheap, do-it-yourself furniture and delicious meatballs knows a thing or six about style and design, and while that character is only now reemerging thanks to a certain string of Volvo concepts, it use to be that Saab was the authority on penning some of the industry's more unique designs.
Take the beautiful Sonett for example - a small coupe whose appearance is a funky mishmash of a Porsche 911 and a Bugeyed Sprite with just a hint of a Citroën DS (it's that convex rear window). It's a positively striking car, made more unique by its two-stroke, three-cylinder powertrain and four-on-the-tree manual transmission. With just 70 horsepower hauling about 1,500 pounds of Swedish style, the Sonett strikes us as an ideal alternative to some of the English sports cars of its day, particularly for those that are looking for something beyond your average MG or Triumph.
For Glenn Roberts, the Sonett was a part of his childhood. His family owned example was originally a special-order item by his parents in 1967. He bought the car from them 13 years later and has never looked back, completing a restoration in 2004. With a story like that, it's not surprising that Roberts and his silver Sonett are the most recent pairing to get some attention from Petrolicious.
