This convertible is my own "baby". If you are not already a Saab lover, this will make you one.
If you look on-line and read some of the Saab Blogs, the cars built before General Motors got involved are considered "The Real Saab's".
I like that it's a 4-cylinder, fuel injected, turbo charged car, and the engine has a timing CHAIN, not a timing BELT.
I can get 28 miles per gallon (MPG) on the highway.
A/C blows nice and cold. (Good heat too.)
The convertible top works very well with no problems. All electric windows work, electric adjustable seats
and a great radio with CD changer in the trunk.
A great car with amazing gas mileage, very reliable, very safe, totally fun to drive, leather and just drop dead beautiful.
I will tell you it always gets Mobil-1 oil changes and has regular check-ups.
New tires only 6-months ago (see photos) and a new fuel pump and a new throttle cable at the same time.
Heater and Air Conditioning works great. Clutch and transmission feel great, no issues. She starts, runs and drives and brakes beautifully.
I can get between 18 to 20 MPG around town and 28 MPG on long trips. ...and look great doing it !!! Smooth and comfortable.
This car has a nice digital read out for mileage, trips, temp, ETA and a whole host of other functions.
This car does have some minor blemishes:
There is a small tear in the drivers seat, (down low on the left corner of the back section.) If I keep the car, I will install sheepskin covers on the seats.
There are also small cracks in the tail light lens, (center section) the left headlamp outside glass is cracked, (still works fine.) and 3 small hairline cracks in the bottom center section of the windshield. ( I had the local "Ding Doctor" repair the windshield.)
There are some scuff marks on the corners of the bumper and some very very light parking lot marks on the body. (you will never see them.)
Also, there is a mark in the heater LCD display, (see photo) but you can still read the settings.
The "SRS airbag" light is on and the electric radio antenna stays at half mast, but you can hear the antenna motor working.
Please take a look at the pictures, these blemishes are not very visible, but I want to be totally "up-front" since you are not here to see for yourself.
Overall this is a great and reliable car. The problems I listed are all superficial and this is a good "daily driver", plus it's fun and fancy looking.
*** Please feel free to schedule a time to come and see the car before the auction ends, or ask any questions and I will do my best to get you answers in a timely fashion.
For the winning bidder, I can drive the car 150 miles to the Denver International Airport (DIA) and meet you, for an additional $300.
(ie. $1.00 per mile, round trip.) All funds would have to be cleared in advance. -Thank you.
THIS WILL BE A GREAT CAR FOR SOME LUCKY PERSON: DAUGHTER, SON, WIFE OR LUCKY GUY LIKE ME. MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAS SOME WONDERFUL ADVENTURES IN THIS CAR, AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR SOMETHING NEW.
Please bid with confidence.

Rally legend Erik Carlsson dies at 86
Wed, May 27 2015The motorsports world has lost a legend with the passing of famous rally driver Erik Carlsson at the age of 86. If you've ever seen a photo of a vintage Saab sliding around a corner or blasting through tree-lined roads, there was a good chance that Carlsson was behind the wheel. The man was so tied to the Swedish auto brand that he earned the nickname Mr. Saab. Carlsson experienced his greatest competition success in the late '50s and early '60s when he scored victories in premier events like the Monte Carlo Rally (pictured above). Among his more impressive performances were consecutive wins in '60, '61, and '62 Britain's RAC Rally. His three-cylinder, 750cc Saab 96 wasn't insanely powerful, but Carlsson made it a monster in the world of rallying. In 2010, Saab named a special edition 9-3 after him and honored his victory at the RAC Club in London. Beyond being impressive behind the wheel of a rally car and a longtime Saab brand ambassador, the driver had a habit of rolling his car during competition to earn the moniker "Carlsson On The Roof." According to Classic and Sports Car, he also wrote the book The Art and Technique of Driving that detailed his left-foot braking method, and it was co-authored with his wife, fellow racing driver Pat Moss. Our condolences go out to Carlsson's friends and family.
Junkyard Gem: 1988 Saab 900
Tue, Nov 29 2016Saab had a cult following in North America going back to the two-stroke Saab 96, but it wasn't until the 900 made its debut for the 1978 model year that the marque started to be considered a mainstream – if still a bit odd – brand here. Based on the venerable 99 but seeming a lot more modern, the 900 sold well to those who wanted to drive something sensibly Scandinavian but didn't want the stodginess of a Volvo. These cars were especially popular in Colorado, and I found this high-mile-but-solid '88 in a Denver self-service wrecking yard. Nearly made it to 300,000 miles, but it never got the chance. The key is still in the console-mounted ignition switch, and the steel lanyard indicates that this car went to the wrecking yard via an insurance-company or dealership-trade-in auction. Since the car has no major body damage, that means that its final owner traded it in – reluctantly, we hope – on another car, and nobody was willing to bid over scrap value for the elderly Swede at auction. Most such auctions have an arrangement with a local wrecking yard to take all the unsold cars for a set price, and that's what we can assume happened to this car. Chances are that it was still in running condition when it showed up here. You could get a 1988 Saab 900 with a three-speed Borg-Warner automatic transmission, but I can't recall having ever seen one so equipped. Most Saab 900 buyers insisted on manuals. The engine in this car is a slant-four based on the same Triumph engine used in the Triumph TR7. By the 1980s, Saab had made sufficient improvements to the design that it was several orders of magnitude more reliable than its British Leyland ancestors. This one made 110 horses, which did an acceptable job of moving the car's 2,695 pounds. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. Former Saab chairman Muller faces summons in tax inquiry
Thu, 23 May 2013Former Saab Chairman Victor Muller may be called in for questioning as part of an official inquiry into suspected tax evasion by three of the automaker's former executives. A prosecutor has officially named former CEO Jan-Ake Jonsson and two other executives in the investigation, and official court documents say that Muller will be called in by the Financial Crimes Unit. According to Reuters, prosecutors are currently looking into allegations that the executives worked to dodge taxes between 2010 and 2011, when the automaker finally went into bankruptcy.
The Truth About Cars reports the investigation may center around the $540,000 paid as consulting fees to Latin America Tug Holding NV, a company Muller owns. It's possible that the Swedish authorities believe the Saab executives were using the tug boat company as a tax haven, and that the automaker should have paid taxes and social security contributions on the money. Muller has not been charged.
Meanwhile, Muller is defending his earnings in a new interview with Automotive News. Having come under fire for his $773,000 salary at Saab, the Spyker CEO said his pay was commensurate with an executive running a company with 4,000 employees.
