This reliable classic is always a head turner. Most importantly, it has
given me absolutely reliable service for the past 6 years. I'm the third
owner.
Always starts in hot or cold weather. Runs quite. No smoke. The top is only a few years old and is in great condition. Some of the stitching along the edge has frayed a bit though. IMPORTANT: A/C does not work. Needs compressor and evaporator. Also, cruise control does not work. And the driver's seat doesn't tilt forward. Has the familiar cracks in the dash. IMPORTANT: AutoCheck lists an accident. It was a hit-and-run that dented the left rear quarter panel. I had the dent pulled, repaired, and painted. There was no other damage and the frame was not bent. The Florida sun did a number on the hood and trunk clear coat. The clear coat is pealing so a paint job would return this car to its glory. The rest of the paint is just OK. Lot's of water marks. It could use buffing, but really the whole car should be repainted. Also, an oil leak has developed in the past few months. This is a new development that I have not investigated. I believe it is from the oil pan gasket. Ohio plates. Current Mileage 123,059. Features: - Convertible top in great condition - Automatic transmission shifts properly - Interior in great condition - Smoked LED corner lights - Clear turn signal housing - LED turn signals and brake lights - LED interior convenience lights - Custom-painted red valve cover - Python alarm system with pager remote - Pioneer DEH-X6500BT radio with Bluetooth streaming - Infinity Reference 2-way dash and rear speakers - Baja 1,000 watt amplifier - Autobahn subwoofer - Bentley Service Manual Service and repair record back to 2010: January 2014 - Mileage 122,000 - Tires Rotated - Tires Balanced April 2013 - Mileage 119,981 - Tune Up - New Wiper Blades - Oil Change - Replaced Tie Rod - New shocks front and rear - New Front Brake Pads - New Front Rotors December 2012 - Mileage 118,332 - New Tires Yokohama TRZ 195/60R15 - New Alternator June 2012 - New exhaust pipe behind catalytic converter - New muffler - New tailpipe August 2010 - Convertible top replaced - Headliner replaced - Seat repair - Dent removal driver's side rear quarter panel Service that I would do if I were keeping it: - Paint job - Fix AC -- needs compressor and evaporator - New oil pan gasket to fix oil leak. On Aug-15-14 at 10:13:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added pictures of the repaired rear driver's side panel as it looks right now. They did an excellent job fixing the dent. There is a tiny bit of paint peeling above the black trim. I also included a picture of the clear coat peeling around the driver's side door handle similar to the condition of the hood. But as I mentioned in the description, the paint on many areas of the car is starting to look bad and the entire car could use new paint. |

eBay Find of the Day: 1985 Saab Turbo Limo is the ultimate high school reunion ride
Wed, 18 Jul 2012Yes, we've seen this 1985 Saab 900 Turbo limo for sale before. But somehow, this time is just seems more right. And we've got more pictures this go-around.
With the Saab brand now dormant and little hope for a true renaissance, save for one that comes in name only, Saab's future must lie in the celebration of great cars of its past. And what better way to celebrate the wonderful Saab 900 than to chop it in half and turn it into a freaking limousine?
Claimed to have been built by a Denver area Saab specialist, this five-speed manual 900 Turbo is listed with a Buy It Now of $8,500. It's actually surprisingly well turned-out, too, with a pretty decent interior that sticks to real Saab seats, avoiding the crushed-velvet or button-festooned lounge chair look. While this seems rather spendy for a well-used limousine, good luck finding another one like it. And besides, that's a lot less than the $12,500 asking price from back in 2010.
New owners of Saab don't get to use the name
Tue, Feb 2 2016Saab won't be revived as a Chinese-backed electric car brand. Aerospace and defense company Saab AB has declined to let the new owners of the dormant automaker's old designs and factory use the name on new cars, Automotive News reports. It's a blow to fans of the Swedish brand, who hoped the name would be revived on new vehicles coming out of the same factory as models like the 99 Turbo. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, known as NEVS, bought major assets of the Saab operation in 2012 following former parent Spyker's decision to liquidate the company in December 2011. This not only included the Trollhattan assembly plant in Sweden, but the rights to the Saab 9-3 and the platform of its successor. NEVS built some new 9-3s using leftover parts and powered by the old 2.0-liter turbo engines, with the intent to raise money to produce new electric vehicles for Europe and China – and to use the Saab name. When General Motors bought all of Saab Automobile in 2000, it used the name under license from the Saab AB. That permission was then passed to Spyker in 2010 and later NEVS, albeit without the griffin logo. But when NEVS sought creditor protection in 2014, Saab AB revoked the naming rights. Following reorganization, NEVS in August announced a deal with Dongfeng Motor Corp. to develop a new lineup of electric vehicles, which was revealed in December to include five new models by 2018, some assembled in China by 2020 – the first of which being an EV version of the old 9-3. However, Saab AB told Automotive News that discussions have ended regarding the use of the Saab name on these vehicles. NEVS owner Kai Johan Jiang told a Swedish radio station the company will find a new name to market the cars under when they go on sale. It's similar to what happened to SAIC when it purchased vehicle technology from bankrupt British carmaker MG Rover. While it had the tooling to essentially make the Rover 75, the brand name at the time belonged to BMW and barred SAIC from using it, so the Roewe brand was created in China. It's unclear why talks broke down and also where NEVS will get a new name (there aren't nicer ways to spell Saab, and it was originally an acronym, anyway). Will Saab AB attach its name to another line of cars? Probably not. What it does mean, however, is that Saab fans have to cling tighter to their old cars now. Perhaps that's for the best. Son Surprises Mom With Dream Car
Thu, Aug 14 2014We can't get enough of these dream car-reveals. Here's the latest one: A son wanted to treat his mom to the car she's had her eye on for years, but it wasn't a restored Porsche or a fancy 1957 Chevy Bel Air. This mom wanted something special – a 1973 Saab 99 EMS painted disco-fever copper. Ever since he was a kid, Corey Wadden's mom has wanted the Saab. Wadden writes on his YouTube video that she first hopped in the driver's seat of one of these odd retro rides while working as a cleaning lady. One of her clients would toss her the keys and let her move the car. She fell in love. After a year of searching and saving, this nominee for best son in the world brought his mom down to the parking lot, where her dream ride awaited. First, he handed her an envelope with a picture of the car and the keys, a dead giveaway. She quickly put two and two together, and lost it before making it to the parking lot. She is so happy and full of gratitude that she actually drops to her knees when he opens the door. Wadden writes on his page that his mom lost her job two-and-a-half years ago and hasn't had a reliable car in years. This car aims not just to get her mobile again, but lift her spirits. It's also part of the Toronto entrepreneur's promise to become a millionaire by the time he is 25 to help his mother retire. Related Gallery The Best Cars For Empty Nesters Weird Car News Saab
