This reliable classic is always a head turner. Most importantly, it has
given me absolutely reliable service for the past 6 years. I'm the third
owner.
Always starts in hot or cold weather. Runs quite. No smoke. The top is only a few years old and is in great condition. Some of the stitching along the edge has frayed a bit though. IMPORTANT: A/C does not work. Needs compressor and evaporator. Also, cruise control does not work. And the driver's seat doesn't tilt forward. Has the familiar cracks in the dash. IMPORTANT: AutoCheck lists an accident. It was a hit-and-run that dented the left rear quarter panel. I had the dent pulled, repaired, and painted. There was no other damage and the frame was not bent. The Florida sun did a number on the hood and trunk clear coat. The clear coat is pealing so a paint job would return this car to its glory. The rest of the paint is just OK. Lot's of water marks. It could use buffing, but really the whole car should be repainted. Also, an oil leak has developed in the past few months. This is a new development that I have not investigated. I believe it is from the oil pan gasket. Ohio plates. Current Mileage 123,059. Features: - Convertible top in great condition - Automatic transmission shifts properly - Interior in great condition - Smoked LED corner lights - Clear turn signal housing - LED turn signals and brake lights - LED interior convenience lights - Custom-painted red valve cover - Python alarm system with pager remote - Pioneer DEH-X6500BT radio with Bluetooth streaming - Infinity Reference 2-way dash and rear speakers - Baja 1,000 watt amplifier - Autobahn subwoofer - Bentley Service Manual Service and repair record back to 2010: January 2014 - Mileage 122,000 - Tires Rotated - Tires Balanced April 2013 - Mileage 119,981 - Tune Up - New Wiper Blades - Oil Change - Replaced Tie Rod - New shocks front and rear - New Front Brake Pads - New Front Rotors December 2012 - Mileage 118,332 - New Tires Yokohama TRZ 195/60R15 - New Alternator June 2012 - New exhaust pipe behind catalytic converter - New muffler - New tailpipe August 2010 - Convertible top replaced - Headliner replaced - Seat repair - Dent removal driver's side rear quarter panel Service that I would do if I were keeping it: - Paint job - Fix AC -- needs compressor and evaporator - New oil pan gasket to fix oil leak. On Aug-15-14 at 10:13:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I've added pictures of the repaired rear driver's side panel as it looks right now. They did an excellent job fixing the dent. There is a tiny bit of paint peeling above the black trim. I also included a picture of the clear coat peeling around the driver's side door handle similar to the condition of the hood. But as I mentioned in the description, the paint on many areas of the car is starting to look bad and the entire car could use new paint. |

Saab signs deal to sell 20,000 electric cars in China
Fri, Jan 15 2016Another quarter, another gargantuan deal for National Electric Vehicle Sweden (Nevs), the Chinese-backed firm that bought the assets to Saab in 2012 and then spent two years getting out of financial trouble. The company just announced that it has agreed to a framework deal with China Volant Industry Co. (Volinco), a firm whose principal business is import and export of aerospace equipment and technologies. The tentative Volinco order is worth 8.5 billion Swedish crowns ($996 million US) for 20,000 electric cars that will be delivered between 2017 and 2020. A final purchase order is expected to be finalized later. In December, Nevs signed a deal worth $12 billion to provide 150,000 electric cars to Panda New Energy, a Chinese EV leasing company. That deal will also see Nevs provide 100,000 electric vehicle products and services to companies that Nevs works with. As with the Volinco deal, Nevs will build and paint components for its Saab 9-3 EV in Trollhattan, Sweden then ship the kits to China for final assembly. Given the number and size of its recent deals, it shouldn't be a surprise that Nevs is building a factory in Tianjin, China that will be ready in 2020. Volinco apparently plans to use the trove as company cars for employees. The final agreement will also include giving Nevs access to a range of the aerospace firm's suppliers to assist with its production plans. Nevs is also working with Dongfeng and Renesas Electronics to help develop its current and future cars. Saab to hire 200 engineers, might build gas cars with Mahindra
Thu, 14 Jun 2012The brand formerly known as Saab is still intent on teaching The Little Engine That Could a few ticks about persistence. We say "formerly known" because it turns out that National Electric Vehicle Swedent (NEVS), the Sino-Japanese investment consortium that just bought the majority of Saab's assets, minus Saab Automobile Parts AB, may not actually own the rights to the Saab brand name. According to a report in Di.se via Saabs United, NEVS will need to negotiate with Scania and the Swedish aerospace and defense group, Saab AB, for the right to name its forthcoming electric car the Saab 9-3.
NEVS is hiring 200 engineers now to work on its electric car program, and reports are that it will hire more as it gets closer to the 2014 launch. It will be based on the current (read: ancient) 9-3, and we hope NEVS is succeeds in getting the naming rights, because the NEVS 9-3 just doesn't have the same ring. NEVS will likely target China as the model's main market.
However, it's rumors of their second negotiating ploy that we're really rooting for: to work with Mahinda & Mahindra, the Indian company once in the running for Saab's assets, develop a petrol-powered 9-3 on the next-generation Phoenix platform, based on Jason Castriota's design.
Saab 9-3 production to start in China in 2013 [UPDATE]
Thu, 17 Jan 2013We knew that National Electric Vehicle Sweden planned to restart production of the last-gen Saab 9-3 at some point in the future, we just didn't know exactly when, or exactly where. As it turns out, the answers to those questions are soon, and China.
Though NEVS had initially said it will build vehicles in Sweden before shipping them to China, the latest report from Autocar suggests that the cars will instead be built right in Quingdao starting later in 2013. That's right, this calendar year. Also on the docket is a followup electric version of the 9-3, which is slated to come to market in 2014 in an effort to satiate China's wish that there be half a million EVs silently filling its streets within the next two years.
NEVS wants to be part of the EV solution, but it's not going to be easy. Naturally, if these cars are to be built in China, a factory has to be located or built, tooling needs to be in place, workers need to be hired and trained and a lengthy trail of paperwork has to be signed off by the government before even the well-known gasoline-powered 9-3 can be a reality, let along the unknown quantity that is the 9-3 ePower.
