The car starts and runs fine, but the clutch pedal doesn't disengage the clutch. The car has rust issues, so I'm not sure if it's a restoration candidate or is good only for parts. Please note: except for the odometer photo, all photos were taken over a year ago. I don't think the appearance of the car has changed, but I highly recommend that potential buyers see the car before bidding. The car hasn't been restored, so in addition to the clutch problem, there are many mechanical and cosmetic issues, including (but not limited to) an oil leak primarily from the valve cover and transmission shifter seal (there are other places), a power-steering rack leak, non-functioning air conditioning, falling headliner, ripped seams in the driver's seat, and a cracked dashboard. The car is sold as-is. I have listed what I consider to be the most major issues, but I want to be clear that there are other defects, and I recommend seeing before bidding."

It is time for me to part with my 1992 Saab 900 Turbo 3-door.  I loved driving the car even though my plan to have it restored never happened, but I can't sink any more money into it, and I need to clear my garage in preparation for moving.  The car may be worth little and good only for parts, but I would rather have it go to someone looking for a parts Saab than call a local person to junk it.

I cannot stress enough that I have not listed every single thing wrong with the car, as the list is long for an un-restored high-mileage car of this age.  Rust is the biggest issue and should be inspected in person.  I am more than happy to show the car to a potential buyer.  Sale is final regardless of whether the buyer has inspected the car.

More photos are available from http://s1233.photobucket.com/user/cargeek3323/library/1992%20900%20Turbo.  Reminder: The photos are all over a year old except for the one of the odometer reading 212479.

I do have all the records of work I've had done to the car since I bought it in 2007 at 181,864 miles.

Since the clutch is inoperable, buyer is responsible to have the car towed from my garage.

I reserve the right to update the listing with any information I realize I have missed.  I also reserve the right to end the auction early.

Spyker and Youngman sign deal, plan to build D8 SUV and Phoenix-based range

Mon, 27 Aug 2012

It appears Spyker is strengthen its ties and carmaking ability with Chinese carmaker Youngman. This comes in the wake of the brand's latest dealings with a $3 billion lawsuit against General Motors regarding the demise of Saab.
Youngman is reportedly investing €10,000,000 ($12.5M USD) for a 29.9-percent stake in the company. The shares are being sold for €0.05 (6.3 cents) each, representing a fully diluted share. Youngman has said it will not take on more than the 29.9-percent stake.
Additionally, Youngman will invest €25,000,000 ($31M) for the development of an all-new Spyker vehicle, called the D8 P2P, named for the Peking-to-Paris rally. The vehicle had been shown as a concept by Spyker previously, but things had been quiet since then. It appears Spyker will now build the uniquely styled D8 Concept shown above. The vehicle is to launch at the end of 2014 and carry a price of $250,000 per vehicle.

Super sleeper Saab 900 does 174 mph in the standing mile

Sun, 14 Apr 2013

Somewhere behind Hennessey setting a new top speed record at this year's Texas Mile with its camouflage Ford GT, a stock-looking 1996 Saab 900T pulled up to the line to see what it could do. The dealer showroom wheels wouldn't offer any indication that the 2.0-liter four-cylinder under the hood was getting help from a Garrett turbocharger, a tuned ECU and E85 gas to put out 465 horsepower at the front wheels.
Knowing that, it shouldn't be too much of a surprise that at the other end of the mile the sky blue Swedish wonder was doing 174 miles per hour. The four-cylinder class at the Texas Mile has plenty such rockets, too, this Swede coming just behind a Dodge Neon that did 175.8 mph. You can watch the Saab do its thing in the video below.

Saab begins 9-3 EV pilot production

Thu, 10 Apr 2014

To say that Saab has had a tough time lately would be like saying that it's been a little colder than usual this winter. After General Motors finally gave up and sold it to Spyker in 2010, Saab declared bankruptcy the following year. GM successfully blocked Spyker from selling Saab to Chinese automaker Youngman the following year, but ultimately it ended up in the hands of another Chinese consortium called NEVS. Standing as it does for National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the new owners promised not only to restart production of the long-suffering 9-3, but also to turn it into an electric vehicle. And that's just what it's doing.
The latest news coming out of Sweden indicates that NEVS/Saab has started building the first examples of the 9-3 EV. These first 200 or so examples are set to be shipped off to Qingdao - the Chinese city that is home to the Tsingtao brewery, hosted the sailing components of the 2008 summer games on Beijing, was supposed to host an IndyCar race in 2012 before it was canceled, and also itself just happens to own 22 percent of NEVS.
These first EVs have their batteries mounted down low in the chassis for a low center of gravity and have a range of about 20 miles on a full charge. That's absolutely paltry compared to the other EVs on the market: a Nissan Leaf will travel more than four times that distance, and a Tesla Model S will go ten times farther on a charge.
