1991 Saab 900 - Best Buy For The Money! on 2040-cars
Van Nuys, California, United States
1991 SAAB
900 CONVERTIBLE COUPE
I bought the car about 6 years ago. The car was last registered in 2009. I have kept the car covered with a car cover, in a covered carport, until about two months ago, when I moved it to its current location. I was going to restore the car and give it to my wife, but both she and I have been sick, so I never got around to working on it. The car runs well but it is not perfect. Please see, “PROBLEMS,” below. I do not see colors well, but I believe that the color in the pictures is less gold/champagne than the car actually is. The car has an automatic transmission. This car is not a turbo. When I bought the SAAB, (about 6 years ago), the previous owner told me that the top was new, and that it had not been involved in any accidents. I believe that the previous owner replaced the original radio with an upgraded radio, but I am not certain of this. After buying the car, I had the car
professionally painted. The remaining repairs seemed to me to be cosmetic and/or minor, with the exception of the transmission, which is slightly slipping. I do not know how to repair that or what is needed to repair it. I have not been involved in any accidents in the car. Other than the prior owner telling me that the car had not been in any accidents prior to my purchase, I do not know if the car was in any accidents prior to my purchasing it. The engine seems fine. It is not leaking or burning oil. The car runs well and seems to have a lot of power. The engine seems fairly quiet. I guarantee that the engine will pass a smog test. I am not aware of any electrical problems. The suspension seems good to me. The wheels are real, (not hub-caps). I have not seen any rust or dry-rot. I am providing
clear title to the vehicle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- PROBLEMS: INTERIOR: There are cosmetic issues on the interior, and I have shown some, but not all, of those issues in the pictures. The issue includes rips, tears, curling, and missing pieces(s). There are several narrow cracks in the top of the dashboard. Pieces of the burl wood type cover on the dash are torn or missing.CONVERTIBLE TOP: When I bought the car, the previous owner told me that the top had just been replaced. I later noticed that there was a piece of tape at the bottom of the rear window. I do not know why and I have left it there. I also noticed that one seam has opened a bit. You can see the tape and the seam in the pictures. TRANSMISSION: The transmission is slightly slipping. TIRES and WHEELS: A wheel alignment is needed. The front passenger side tire should be replaced immediately OTHER PROBLEMS: There may be other problems that I do not know about, and there are likely other rips, chips, and tears on the interior, but I have put the problems that I know about in this auction information. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The car is located in the Valley Glen area, (formerly a part of Van Nuys), of the San Fernando Valley, in Los Angeles, California: If you are in the Southern California area: You are welcome to come and see the car. Please e-mail me to set-up a date and time. If you are out of the area and want to transport the car: If you purchase the car and want to arrange for the transportation, I will cooperate with the transport company to get the car to you, but you will have to pay for the transportation and you will be responsible for the car while it is in the process of being transported. The car does not have current tags, so I cannot drive it on the street. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other than guaranteeing that the car will pass a smog test, the car is Sold AS-IS WHERE-IS. No warranty and/or guarantees of any kind, (other than passing a smog test). Car is running. The car is not smoking or leaking. Clear CA title on-hand. I will accept a bank checks, personal checks, cash, and/or Pay-Pal. Title and possession will not pass until after full payment has cleared. Title and possesion will pass at the time the car is picked-up. A $500 deposit must be paid within 24 hours of winning this auction. The car must be picked-up within 10 days of full payment clearing. If the car
is not picked-up within 10 days of full payment clearing, commencing on the 11th
day after full payment has cleared, I will charge $10 a day storage for each of
the next 30 days. Storage charges must be paid prior to title and possession passing to buyer. If the car is not picked-up within 40 days of full payment clearing, then I will return any monies that I have received over the $500 deposit and the $300 for storage, and I will sell the car to someone else.
PLEASE CONACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MIGHT HAVE BEFORE YOU BUY THIS CAR. IF YOU WANT A PICTURE OF A PARTICULAR AREA, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, AND I WILL TAKE THE PICTURE AND POST IT TO THIS E-BAY AUCTION. Thank you.

Dealership refunds student for broken Saab with bags of pennies
Fri, Jul 25 2014Every so often, we come across the story of someone trying to "stick it to the man" by paying a parking fine or speeding ticket in pennies or dimes. Never, though, have we heard of a business stooping to such cliched lengths. Enter Florida. Irena Mujakovic bought a 2003 Saab way back in January from Holiday Motors, in Jacksonville, FL. Shortly after the purchase, the transmission started acting up. She returned to the dealer and paid for the repair, and purchased a warranty for future issues. Total cost: $300. But then the trans crapped out not long after the initial repair, and Mujakovic was back at Holiday Motors. This is where things start going south. This second trip cost Mujakovic $400, with her warranty in hand. That's because the man that runs the dealer, Ed Di Miranda, neglected to mention that the warranty didn't cover labor costs. "The warranty did not cover labor and I failed to write that in and that was her loophole," Di Miranda told First Coast News. The young college student filed a complaint with the Florida DMV, who sided with her and ordered Holiday Motors to refund the money. Di Miranda and the dealership did just that, but when Mujakovic came to collect her refund, it was to a bag of pennies, with a few dollar bills sprinkled in for good measure. Di Miranda, doesn't seem to think he's done anything wrong, claiming that only about $85 was in change, while the rest was paper money. "I am doing what DMV asked me to do," Di Miranda said. "It is legal tender." Mujakovic has not collected her refund. Have a look below for the video news report. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Saab owner may speed up relaunch with gas-powered 9-3
Wed, 21 Nov 2012National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the new owner of Saab, has good news for you if you happened to miss out on picking up a 9-3 before the company plummeted through bankruptcy. Automotive News Europe reports NEVS may offer a gasoline-powered 9-3 in 2013. That move would effectively step up the brand's re-launch plan by a full year. Originally, the company planned to introduce an electric vehicle in 2014, but NEVS is currently investigating ways to start production next summer using "a 9-3 with a traditional powertrain" in order to generate more cash for the electrification effort.
NEVS purchased Saab earlier this year with the intent of resurrecting the brand with a fully electric product portfolio. The new EVs would theoretically ride on the Saab Phoenix platform and be manufactured at the automaker's plant in Trollhattan, Sweden. The report of a resurrected gasoline model came courtesy of Mikael Oestlund, a company spokesperson familiar with the company's workings.
Mahindra eying stake in Saab owner NEVS?
Tue, 17 Jun 2014It's ironic that Saab's current vehicle architecture is called the Phoenix platform, because like the mythological bird, the company keeps returning from the ashes. That's right, the embattled Swedish automaker isn't completely dead yet. Again. Actually, it may be facing yet another buyout, and this time, the buyer may be from India.
Less than a month ago, the situation looked ominous for Saab. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the carmaker's current owner, temporarily shut down 9-3 production at its Trollhättan factory not long after restarting it in the first place. According to Just Auto, it laid off about 100 consultants allegedly linked to problems making June payroll, as well. At the time, Saab claimed that the measures were temporary, and it was negotiating selling part ownership to another automaker.
Those assertions might have some truth behind them, it seems. Indian newspaper The Economic Times reports that Mahindra & Mahindra and an unnamed Asian automaker are negotiating with NEVS to purchase part of the company. It claims that the Indian automaker sees Saab as an opportunity to add a premium brand to its business.
