1988 Saab 900 Turbo Convertible 2-door 2.0l on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
I've had this classic Saab since 1999. It was my dream car since college and I've had many great years with it.
Runs and Drives Great, Everything works except cruise control - the AC blows cold (refitted with 134a), the power antenna goes up, it has the original Clarion cassette with EQ, I replaced the speakers a few years ago. All power windows go up and down, the top works perfectly, including the drivers side heated seat I installed. It also comes with the aftermarket boot cover and carrying case. I bought the car in 1999 with 93K miles. It now has 130K. Low miles for it's age. I just installed a new battery and fuel pump. The top was replaced about 5 years ago, the windshield was replaced in 2001, less than 5K miles on new tires, the leather is original and in good shape except the drivers seat that I recovered with a donor passenger seat from a 9000 about 5 years ago. I upgraded to the SPG style performance body kit and wheels to give it the sportier SPG look and burled walnut dash cover. All in all it's a nice looking car and shows pride of ownership but it also shows its years in places. The paint was faded and cracked on the hood and trunk. I repainted them but it's not the best prep job. It also has normal wear for it's age; chips, scratches a ding on the passenger door (see picture) and the clear coat on the bumpers has faded a bit. It would really look sharp with a new coat of paint. It has newer carpeted mats but the original carpet is worn on the drivers side and shows its age in places. The dash has some cracks. The fuel gauge and speedo work but they jump around a bit. I've stored it inside for most of it's time in my care with the exception of last year. My father passed away and we had to make room in the garage for stuff we were clearing out of his house. The power steering fluid had a slow leak last time I drove it but it seems fine now. The NADA Classic retail for this car ranges from $4425 to $10,100 and they're starting to go up in value. I wish I could keep it but I just have to much stuff. I need to make room and let someone else enjoy this timeless Swedish classic. This is a great car in original condition with some nice added upgrades. It needs nothing to be a dependable daily driver and a fun summer car. It's not a show car by any means. If you have any questions or need additional information please let me know before you bid. This car retailed $29,740 in 1988 and is still a lot of car for the money. This car is listed on craigslist locally so I reserve the right to end this auction early in accordance to ebay terms if the vehicle sells. |

Dealership refunds student for broken Saab with bags of pennies
Fri, Jul 25 2014Every so often, we come across the story of someone trying to "stick it to the man" by paying a parking fine or speeding ticket in pennies or dimes. Never, though, have we heard of a business stooping to such cliched lengths. Enter Florida. Irena Mujakovic bought a 2003 Saab way back in January from Holiday Motors, in Jacksonville, FL. Shortly after the purchase, the transmission started acting up. She returned to the dealer and paid for the repair, and purchased a warranty for future issues. Total cost: $300. But then the trans crapped out not long after the initial repair, and Mujakovic was back at Holiday Motors. This is where things start going south. This second trip cost Mujakovic $400, with her warranty in hand. That's because the man that runs the dealer, Ed Di Miranda, neglected to mention that the warranty didn't cover labor costs. "The warranty did not cover labor and I failed to write that in and that was her loophole," Di Miranda told First Coast News. The young college student filed a complaint with the Florida DMV, who sided with her and ordered Holiday Motors to refund the money. Di Miranda and the dealership did just that, but when Mujakovic came to collect her refund, it was to a bag of pennies, with a few dollar bills sprinkled in for good measure. Di Miranda, doesn't seem to think he's done anything wrong, claiming that only about $85 was in change, while the rest was paper money. "I am doing what DMV asked me to do," Di Miranda said. "It is legal tender." Mujakovic has not collected her refund. Have a look below for the video news report. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Man in a convertible drives in the rain with a Christmas tree
Mon, Dec 7 2015A man in a convertible had his holiday cheer extinguished thanks to England's infamous weather. Nicholas Dodd saw this sad, soaked through couple while driving down the A38 near Plymouth, Devon, according to the Daily Mirror. Dodd told the publication he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw a Saab, top down, in a pouring rain storm. That's not all. The top was down because of the large Christmas tree wedged in the back seat. "We couldn't believe what we were seeing," Dodd said. "It was crazy - especially with the weather - but I guess he just wanted to get his Christmas tree home anyway he could." The Saab driver's female passenger also looks less than pleased by the sudden squall. "His missus was beside him but they didn't seem to find it as funny as we did," Dodd said. "He was just keeping his head down in a vain attempt to avoid the rain but was getting a real soaking." Dodd posted the video to Facebook, where commenters also had a good laugh at the soaking wet Saab owners. Weird Car News Saab Videos christmas rain
Spyker files $3 billion lawsuit against General Motors over Saab's demise
Mon, 06 Aug 2012"Smack." That's the sound of Spyker's process server dropping a big ol' pile of legal documents on the doorstep of The Renaissance Center, home of General Motors - or wherever GM's attorneys live during business hours. Contained therein is a Complaint, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and demanding a jury trial, that seeks $3 billion in damages due to "the unlawful actions GM took to avoid competition with Saab Automobile in the Chinese market." Spyker accuses GM of "tortiously interfering" with Saab's business relationship with Chinese automaker Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile (Youngman), actions that Spyker CEO Victor Muller (above) said "deliberately drove Saab Automobile into bankruptcy."
(From Wikipedia: "Tortious interference, also known as intentional interference with contractual relations, in the common law of torts, occurs when a person intentionally damages the plaintiff's contractual or other business relationships.")
The interference in question specifically refers to the very last potential deal, called the Framework Agreement, that Spyker worked out with Youngman. With lots of GM engineering embedded into the 9-4X and 9-5, The General had the right to approve any Saab partnership that would involve the transfer of GM intellectual property. Spyker had been rebuffed over every previous deal with a Chinese firm, including two bids by Youngman, due to GM concerns over its IP getting into Chinese hands and having to face Chinese-market competitors using its technology. The Complaint alleges that the Framework Agreement would have put a firewall around all GM IP - Youngman would only work on Saab's Phoenix platform, said to be just about free of GM tech, and would have no access to 9-3, 9-4X or 9-5 technology until after Saab ceased all ties to GM.
