Selling my project SPG. I have been building this thing over the past few years and spared no expense in the process. I am selling her because I want to complete my vintage truck and boat combo. This project has 1,233 miles on rebuilt everything!  Pretty much every nut and bolt has been touched on this project- check the engine compartment photos!

I think the 1987 SPG is the most desirable year.  It has the facelift,  isn't compromised by the early style ABS/airbag system and features the more attractive steering wheel.  The AC has been updated to current standards (but not charged)  I did an axle swap so you'll have the rear E brake, bigger front calipers, and bolt pattern for the more attractive Saab wheels!

This is going to be one of the finest Saab specimens around when finished. It has a flashed ECU that boosts 18-20 psi and was very very (i.e. scary)  fast!!  (this is with the stock fuel settings). With a 3.0bar FPR, red top injectors and fuel mapping, this car could be well over 300HP at the wheels. I absolutely loved this project, but my heart has been captured by a new 1949 Chevy truck project.

In the build process almost everything was rebuilt or purchased new. Scanwest in Seattle rebuilt the transmission, the engine (new .030 pistons, head, etc.) as well as the front hub bearings and cv joints. There are 1,233 miles on the rebuilt car. All suspension bushings were replaced, new slave cylinder, wheel bearings, stage 1 spec clutch, resurfaced flywheel, injectors were cleaned, all new gaskets everywhere possible,  new hoses and even hose clamps...

I did the break in process for the engine but the rings did not seat properly. I am getting mild blow back through the dip stick tube, and blowing blue smoke. THE RINGS ARE BAD- but the engine does start and run.  After a basic ring job this baby will fly again!

This SPG has some very special upgrades on it-  an axle swap from a 90' spg, NEW calipers, rotors, pads, lines, 9000 aero rims powder coated 30% gloss black wrapped in BFG rubber, KONI red adjustable shocks on intrax springs(no longer available) with a combo of new poly and new rubber bushings. Wheel wells have been coated.  The suspension had an amazing ride for the 1,233 miles I drove it!

The SPG kit has been color matched to the body- includes the wheel arches, side vents, and whale tail. The whale tail is not currently installed, but is included with the sale and has been restored/fixed up.  It was painted 3 years ago in Saab lime yellow.  The headlights have PIAA bulbs, euro-clear corners, and the rear lights and fender lights have been smoked out to match the theme of the car.

I went with a thermal coated 3" downpipe with external TIAL wastegate- a custom FMIC set up that included NO cutting of the body and kept the AC.  Silicon lines and couplers. The intercooler is a Yonaka.  The battery (Optima red top) has been relocated to the rear of the car so the exhaust wont burn it.

The interior has been started but not finished.  The lower dash, carpet, and quarter panels have been finished in black.  The only thing missing from the project is the head liner.  Rear seats are in nice shape, the fronts need upholstery.  Has a leather shift boot, and I have the rare cassette holder for the center console.  All interior electronics work-  power windows, mirrors, etc.   I spent hours chasing down bad wires to ensure everything functions as designed.  The top dash is out.

I'll include tons of extra c900 parts! I have the title in hand, The SPG does sport a salvage title only because it was stolen (twice- I have the police reports!) before I bought it. This SPG has not been in an accident. Completely rust free body- rare for this era!

Throw some new rings in the car and have a driving project while the interior gets finished!  I have a stack of receipts and paper work, not to mention the original window sticker!  Feel free to ask any questions and request photos from me directly.  Call Matt 253-740-4233 with any questions. I want to make sure you know EXACTLY what you're getting and will enjoy this car/project as much as I have.  Will do everything I can on my end to assist shipping but you'll need to make the arrangements.

The winning bidder will need to make a non refundable $500 deposit within a day after the sale.

NEVS, Dongfeng ready to make more green cars

Wed, Aug 19 2015

National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), the owner of the sorta-still-there Saab automobile brand, has reached a deal with Dongfeng Motor Corp. in which the China-based automaker will help NEVS develop greener vehicles. NEVS and Dongfeng have been working together since July, though the agreement was officially announced Monday. The companies say the agreement relates to so-called "new-energy" vehicles, though neither details of what those new energy vehicles will be nor financial terms were disclosed. But there's long been talk about Saab working on electrified vehicles, so this appears to be a move in the right direction. NEVS has picked a large company as its development partner. As part of the agreement, Dongfeng will speed up the development of advanced powertrains at its plant in Tiajin, China. In return, NEVS will help Dongfeng get distribution in both North America and Europe while helping the Chinese automaker sort through the matrix of developing vehicles that meet regulatory standards in those two regions, which is no easy task. Dongfeng made more than 3.8 million vehicles last year, and has done business with Peugeot, Citroen, Renault, Nissan, Honda, and Kia. Last we reported, NEVS was in the process of reorganization this past winter, and it's unclear how that will impact the relationship with Dongfeng. Also unclear is the status of the Saab brand name. The Saab AB aerospace company is no longer affiliated with the automaker and disputes NEVS using its name, but the NEVS website still highlights the Saab automotive brand. NEVS bought Saab out of bankruptcy in 2012. The latest NEVS press release is available below. Related Video: Nevs and Dongfeng tie-up for long-term strategic cooperation National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (Nevs) and Dongfeng Motor Corporation (Dongfeng) signed a strategic cooperation agreement on August 17, 2015 to achieve global industrial synergies. Since July 2015, Nevs has started working with Dongfeng on complete vehicle development projects to enhance Dongfeng's technical strength and improve Nevs' own development capability. Now both parties have agreed to expand their cooperation from technical development to further business areas such as global purchasing and distribution network. Dongfeng has formed several strategic long term partnerships with other international major car manufacturers including AB Volvo and as a 14 percent shareholder of PSA.

Saab's latest Chinese owners facing their own credit woes

Sat, 16 Aug 2014

Poor Saab, it can't seem to get a break. General Motors couldn't seem to make a go of it, neither could Spyker, and now it seems that its latest owner is encountering some problems of its own.
That owner, of course, is National Electric Vehicle Sweden, a Swedish holding company owned by Chinese investors. NEVS recently restarted production at the Saab plant in Trollhättan, Sweden, and had some ambitious plans for the brand's revival, but it appears to have run out of cash.
This according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, which discovered that NEVS is having trouble paying its suppliers. One such supplier, called Labo Test, has reportedly been owed some $22,000 by NEVS since February, and without payment, petitioned the Swedish government to place NEVS into bankruptcy proceedings. If that seems a little extreme to you over twenty-two grand, it would seem the parties agree, as the petition has reportedly since been withdrawn.

China's Evergrande says it will start making electric vehicles in June

Tue, Mar 19 2019

BEIJING — Chinese property firm Evergrande Group will start producing its first electric vehicles in June as part of a goal to become the world's largest new energy vehicle (NEV) company within the next three to five years, according to its chairman. Hui Ka Yan made the comments at a conference in the eastern city of Tianjin over the weekend, according to a statement published on the company's website on Tuesday. "The new energy automobile industry has a huge market prospect. Evergrande has completed the entire industrial chain layout in the field of new energy vehicles," Hui said. He also said that Evergrande plans to start selling its first electric vehicle model globally "soon," which will use electric car production technology from Swedish car makers Saab and Koenigsegg, and drive systems from Netherlands' e-Traction, according to the statement. Evergrande, China's second-largest property developer by sales, has been aggressively expanding into the automotive space in search of new areas of growth as the Chinese property market slows. Its subsidiary, Evergrande Health, invested in vehicle manufacturer National Electric Vehicle Sweden AB (NEVS), which picked up the assets of Saab, and Chinese auto battery maker Shanghai CENAT New Energy Co this year. It is also the majority investor in Swedish super car brand Koenigsegg. Not all of Evergrande's investments have gone smoothly, however. Last year, Evergrande Health bought 45 percent of Chinese electric vehicle firm Faraday Future as part of a $2 billion plan but the deal eventually turned sour. The companies have since ended their legal fight. Sales of NEV vehicles have remained a bright spot in China's car market, jumping 61.7 percent in 2018 to 1.3 million vehicles even as the overall car market contracted for the first time since the 1990s. China's biggest auto industry association predicts NEV sales to hit 1.6 million this year. Auto News Green Plants/Manufacturing Koenigsegg Saab NEVS
