I AM A SAAB USA CLUB MEMBER AND SELLING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SAAB WAGONS. IT'S A 2000 9-5 SE 3.0 WAGON WHICH HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS SERVICED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER AND COMES WITH ALL ORIGINAL AND UP TO DATE SERVICE RECORDS, INCLUDING SERVICE RECORDS FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER(SERVICED AT SAME DEALERSHIP). THIS 9-5 NEEDS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MECHANICALLY, MOST RECENTLY HAS HAD ALL A/C COMPONENTS REPLACED, INCLUDING THE COMPRESSOR. EVERY OPTION WORKS, ALL MECHANICS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO LEAKS OR DRIPS. MECHANICALLY, DEALER SERVICE HAS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF THE WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, ALL A/C COMPONENTS (THIS SUMMER), HEATER VALVE, CABIN FILTER, REAR HATCH SHOCKS, WINDOW ROLLERS, BATTERY, BRAKES, TRANSMISSION COOLER, THERMOSTAT, HEAD GASKET, ALL HOSES, FAN BELTS, REAR HATCH ELECTRIC LOCK MECHANISM. FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS, WASHER NOZZLES, FRONT FOG LAMP BULBS AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN MOBIL ONE (DEALER SERVCED) EVERY 4-5,000 MILES. THIS 9-5 HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE EXCELLENT AND SPORTY HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS, SAFETY RECORD AND SUPERB FUEL MILEAGE. NORMALLY GETS AROUND 21.9 MPG IN TOWN AND AROUND 29 MPG ON HIGHWAY TRIPS. THIS SUMMER I GOT 34.6 MPG ON A ROUND TRIP BETWEEN NJ AND NH (650 MILES).
THE EXTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION. PAINT IS EXCELLENT DOES HAVE A FEW VERY MINOR PAINT CHIPS AND ONE SMALL PARKING LOT DING (TRIED TO SHOW IN PHOTO). SAAB TOUCH-UP PAINT INCLUDED IN SALE. SAAB IS DETAILED YEARLY AND WAS JUST DONE IN AUGUST. INTERIOR LEATHER IS EXCELLENT, NO TEARS OR RIPS AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN LEATHER CONDITIONED. CARPETS ARE VERY GOOD AND THERE IS A COMPLETE SET OF SAAB ALL WEATHER FITTED RUBBER MATS. REAR CARGO HATCH CARPET IS ALSO EXCELLENT.
PIRELLI P-6 TIRES ARE EXCELLENT FRONT 80% AND REAR GOOD 70%, REAR WINDOWS HAVE A LIGHT TINT WHICH GIVES THE SAAB A SPORTY LOOK ESPECIALLY WITH THE RARE SCARABE GREEN COLOR. THIS SAAB HAS MOST, IF NOT ALL OPTIONS WHICH WERE AVAILABLE IN 2000, INCLUDING, AM/FM WEATHER BAND/TAPE AND CD, SUNROOF, CRUISE, PS, PDB, PW, POWER SEAT FRONT PASSENGER/DRIVER WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT, SELF DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR, POWER HEATED EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS, LEATHER INTERIOR, DISK BRAKES, AUTOMATIC, WET/WINTER DRIVING MODE, SPORT TRANSMISSION MODE, CONSOLE WITH ARM REST AND CUP HOLDER, REAR AIR/HEAT, REAR AND REAR SIDE WINDOW ELECTRIC DEFROSTER, SEAT HEATERS, FOLDING REAR SEATS, CARGO HATCH COVER. Spyker's $3B lawsuit against GM for blocking Saab sale thrown out
Tue, 11 Jun 2013US District Judge Gershwin Drain has dismissed a $3-billion lawsuit Spyker filed against General Motors. In the suit, Spyker accused GM of attempting to bankrupt Saab after the US automaker had already sold the company to Spyker. GM in effect blocked the sale of Saab to China's Zhejiang Youngman Lotus Automobile Company by prohibiting the transfer of some of its intellectual property. But the court found that GM had a "contractual right" to approve or disapprove any change of ownership. Furthermore, Reuters reports Judge Drain said the contract between GM and Spyker "is clear, unambiguous and absolute" on the matter.
GM, meanwhile, says it is pleased with the ruling. Spyker CEO Victor Muller has not said whether or not his company will appeal the ruling. The Dutch automaker is expected to make a final decision once the court issues its written order on the case.

Vampire Weekend singer responds to burning Saab controversy [w/video]
Fri, 29 Mar 2013Last week, we tipped you off about Vampire Weekend and their new music video for the song Diane Young, a short film that consists entirely of setting fire to two perfectly nice-looking Saab 900 automobiles. The indie rock band's video - viewable by scrolling down - predictably triggered the internet ire of classic car enthusiasts - Saabophiles in particular - and word of the unrest eventually got back to the band itself.
According to music site Spinner (nb: owned by Autoblog parent AOL), the group was "stunned" at the backlash - enough that lead singer Ezra Koenig felt compelled to respond himself. According to Koenig, the band was under the impression that their record company was "looking to purchase the cheapest, oldest cars possible; they weren't trying to buy a beautiful perfect condition car." By way of apology, Koenig even goes so far as to note that bandmate Rostam Batmanglij is a keen fan of Saab.
Other reports have claimed that the cars may have been purchased under false pretenses, sold by owners who "wanted to see them go to a nice new home," but Koenig takes issue with that characterization, countering that he understood that the cars had substantial electrical problems.
Saab still alive and well at New Jersey dealership
Mon, Dec 29 2014We all know the Saab story: a niche automaker that just couldn't last in the quickening pace of an increasingly competitive industry, despite its loyal following. But just because the automaker has all but completely disappeared, it doesn't mean that the loyal following has as well. In fact Saab Automobiles Parts North America estimates there are some 450,000 Saabs still in use in the United States, and many of them are still die-hard brand faithful who are adamantly clinging to the bankrupt brand they love. And many of those loyal customers are still finding a home at Park Avenue Saab in Maywood, NJ. Although the Park Avenue Auto Group operates Acura, BMW and Lotus franchises, it hasn't given up on Saab just because the company isn't making any new cars anymore. Instead it's set up shop in an old Suzuki showroom and is building a growing list of Saab customers across New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania – parts of that list acquired from other, closed Saab dealers in the region. The dealership stocks spare parts and is ready to perform whatever service and maintenance existing Saab owners might need, but it's also still buying and selling Saabs: used models with low mileage and manufactured as close as possible to the end of production in 2011. So when an owner of an old Saab is ready to trade up, the dealership has something to offer. And many of those loyal customers, according to Automotive News, are willing to pay top dollar rather than switch to another brand. If and when a Saab owner needs to buy something newer – as most will have to – the dealer is ready to introduce them to a new Acura or BMW, but to date, very few have. That's why Park Avenue Saab still sells about 40 used Saabs every month to customers in the vicinity, across the country or even overseas. Between the sales and service departments, the dealership is still turning a brisk business, but unless NEVS, Mahindra or some other knight in shining armor swoops in and manages to do what GM and Spyker couldn't, the dealership's management know the business can't last forever.
