BEAUTIFUL SCARABE GREEN 9-5 SE 6 CYLINDER WAGON
I AM A SAAB USA CLUB MEMBER AND SELLING ONE OF MY FAVORITE SAAB WAGONS. IT'S A 2000 9-5 SE 3.0 WAGON WHICH HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED AND ALWAYS SERVICED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER/SERVICE CENTER. ORIGINALLY PURCHASED AT MY LOCAL SAAB DEALER AND COMES WITH ALL ORIGINAL AND UP TO DATE SERVICE RECORDS, INCLUDING SERVICE RECORDS FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER(SERVICED AT SAME DEALERSHIP). THIS 9-5 NEEDS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MECHANICALLY, MOST RECENTLY HAS HAD ALL A/C COMPONENTS REPLACED, INCLUDING THE COMPRESSOR. EVERY OPTION WORKS, ALL MECHANICS ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, NO LEAKS OR DRIPS. IN MY OPINION, KNOWING AND DRIVING SAABS FOR 30 YEARS PLUS THIS IS A RARE OPPORTUNITY TO PURCHASE AN INCREDIBLY MAINTAINED SAAB 9-5, IN A VERY RARE COLOR COMBINATION OF SCARABE GREEN AND TAN LEATHER INTERIOR.
I HAVE OWNED AND ONLY DRIVEN SAABS SINCE THE LATE 1980'S, THIS 9-5 IS ONE OF 4 THAT I CURRENTLY OWN AND THE ONLY REASON THIS FAVORITE HAS TO GO IS BECAUSE I PURCHASED BOTH A 9-5 AERO SEDAN AND A LINEAR WAGON RECENTLY AND NEED THE GARAGE SPACE SINCE EVERY CAR I OWN IS ALWAYS GARAGED. MECHANICALLY, DEALER SERVICE HAS INCLUDED REPLACEMENT OF THE WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, ALL A/C COMPONENTS (THIS SUMMER), HEATER VALVE, CABIN FILTER, REAR HATCH SHOCKS, WINDOW ROLLERS, BATTERY, BRAKES, TRANSMISSION COOLER, THERMOSTAT, HEAD GASKET, ALL HOSES, FAN BELTS, REAR HATCH ELECTRIC LOCK MECHANISM. FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS, WASHER NOZZLES, FRONT FOG LAMP BULBS AND THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. OIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN MOBIL ONE (DEALER SERVCED) EVERY 4-5,000 MILES. AS WITH ALL OF MY SAABS, WHATEVER IS NEEDED GETS DONE AT THE SAAB SERVICE CENTER. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO DRIVE THIS SAAB CROSS COUNTRY, IT IS A SAFE, RELIABLE AND A VERY COMFORTABLE CAR. PERFORMS PERFECTLY, SMOOTHLY, AND RUNS ABSOLUTELY STRAIGHT DOWN THE ROAD. MY SAAB DEALER SERVICE TECH RECENTLY TOLD ME IT'S GOOD FOR AN EASY 200K PLUS. IF YOU KNOW AND APPRECIATE SAABS, AS I DO, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
THIS 9-5 HAS BEEN ONE OF MY FAVORITES SIMPLY BECAUSE OF THE EXCELLENT AND SPORTY HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS, SAFETY RECORD AND SUPERB FUEL MILEAGE. NORMALLY GETS AROUND 21.9 MPG IN TOWN AND AROUND 29 MPG ON HIGHWAY TRIPS. THIS SUMMER I GOT 34.6 MPG ON A ROUND TRIP BETWEEN NJ AND NH (650 MILES).
THE EXTERIOR IS IN VERY NICE CONDITION. PAINT IS EXCELLENT DOES HAVE A FEW VERY MINOR PAINT CHIPS AND ONE SMALL PARKING LOT DING (TRIED TO SHOW IN PHOTO). SAAB TOUCH-UP PAINT INCLUDED IN SALE. SAAB IS DETAILED YEARLY AND WAS JUST DONE IN AUGUST. INTERIOR LEATHER IS EXCELLENT, NO TEARS OR RIPS AND IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN LEATHER CONDITIONED. CARPETS ARE VERY GOOD AND THERE IS A COMPLETE SET OF SAAB ALL WEATHER FITTED RUBBER MATS. REAR CARGO HATCH CARPET IS ALSO EXCELLENT.
PIRELLI P-6 TIRES ARE EXCELLENT FRONT 80% AND REAR GOOD 70%, REAR WINDOWS HAVE A LIGHT TINT WHICH GIVES THE SAAB A SPORTY LOOK ESPECIALLY WITH THE RARE SCARABE GREEN COLOR. THIS SAAB HAS MOST, IF NOT ALL OPTIONS WHICH WERE AVAILABLE IN 2000, INCLUDING, AM/FM WEATHER BAND/TAPE AND CD, SUNROOF, CRUISE, PS, PDB, PW, POWER SEAT FRONT PASSENGER/DRIVER WITH LUMBAR SUPPORT, SELF DIMMING REARVIEW MIRROR, POWER HEATED EXTERIOR REARVIEW MIRRORS, LEATHER INTERIOR, DISK BRAKES, AUTOMATIC, WET/WINTER DRIVING MODE, SPORT TRANSMISSION MODE, CONSOLE WITH ARM REST AND CUP HOLDER, REAR AIR/HEAT, REAR AND REAR SIDE WINDOW ELECTRIC DEFROSTER, SEAT HEATERS, FOLDING REAR SEATS, CARGO HATCH COVER. I'M SURE I'M MISSING OTHER OPTIONS. SAAB COMES WITH THE BOOKS AND MANUALS, SPARE TIRE AND TOOLS, TWO KEYS AND REMOTE FOBS AND THE ORIGINAL SET OF 2000 9-5 WHEELS. THE WHEELS ON THE SAAB ARE FROM A 1999 SAAB 9-5, WHICH HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A FAVORITE OF MINE.
THERE WAS A FRONT LEFT QUARTER PANEL REPAIR BEHIND FRONT LEFT WHEEL AS A RESULT OF A PARKING LOT ACCIDENT WHEN OWNED BY PREVIOUS OWNER.
SAAB IS AVAILABLE FOR PERSONAL INSPECTION, BY APPOINTMENT AND PRIOR TO BIDDING. SHIPPING/TRANSPORTATION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE PURCHASER. I WILL CERTAINLY MAKE IT CONVENIENT, REGARDING TIME AND EASY ACCESS FOR YOUR TRANSPORTER TO PICK-UP. THE SAAB IS LOCATED IN UNION, NJ 07083.
PLEASE NOTE THIS SAAB IS 13 YEARS OLD AND WILL SHOW NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES OR WARRANTIES EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED. YOU, AS PURCHASER, ARE BUYING THIS SAAB IN "AS IS CONDITION".

Spyker and Youngman sign deal, plan to build D8 SUV and Phoenix-based range
Mon, 27 Aug 2012It appears Spyker is strengthen its ties and carmaking ability with Chinese carmaker Youngman. This comes in the wake of the brand's latest dealings with a $3 billion lawsuit against General Motors regarding the demise of Saab.
Youngman is reportedly investing €10,000,000 ($12.5M USD) for a 29.9-percent stake in the company. The shares are being sold for €0.05 (6.3 cents) each, representing a fully diluted share. Youngman has said it will not take on more than the 29.9-percent stake.
Additionally, Youngman will invest €25,000,000 ($31M) for the development of an all-new Spyker vehicle, called the D8 P2P, named for the Peking-to-Paris rally. The vehicle had been shown as a concept by Spyker previously, but things had been quiet since then. It appears Spyker will now build the uniquely styled D8 Concept shown above. The vehicle is to launch at the end of 2014 and carry a price of $250,000 per vehicle.
Junkyard Gem: 1987 Saab 900 4-Door Sedan
Sat, Jul 29 2023Saab sold the original 900 in the United States from the 1979 through 1993 model years (followed by another few years of Opel Vectra-based 900s), and most of the 900s you'll find today are the higher-end models with 16-valve engines and/or turbochargers. Last year in this series, we saw a 900 Turbo and a 900 Turbo Convertible in Colorado car graveyards, and now it's time to take a look at a used-up Colorado 900 with the base 8-valve engine and few extras. The cheapest new 1987 Saab available here was the base three-door hatchback with 5-speed manual transmission, which had an MSRP of $14,395 (about $39,497 in 2023 dollars). If you wanted a new 900 with four doors that year, the price of admission started at $14,805 ($40,622 after inflation). That's the car we've got here. The engine is a 2.0-liter SOHC slant-four, the direct descendant of the engine originally developed in partnership with Triumph for use in the Saab 99 and Triumph Dolomite. The Triumph TR7 used members of this engine family as well. This engine was rated at 110 horsepower and 118 pound-feet. The naturally-aspirated 16-valve version in the '87 900S made 125 horses, while the 900 Turbo had 160 horsepower. The automatic transmission cost an extra $430 (about $1,180 now); most 900 buyers chose the five-on-the-floor manual. In fact, I have never documented a junked 1979-1993 Saab 900 with an automatic. This one came close to the 175,000-mile mark during its life. The paint is somewhat faded, but the interior looks good for a car this age. Its owner or owners took good care of it. The body has a few dents but no rust worth mentioning. If it had been a 900S or a 900 Turbo, it would have had a better chance of avoiding this fate. Saab's innovative technology for 1987 starts at around $15,000 and goes up to the $20,000,000 Viggen (the fighter plane, not the later hot-rod 9-3 that borrowed the Viggen name).
Meet the other Cadillac wagon. It's as American as ABBA
Tue, Aug 16 2022The Cadillac CTS Wagon became a cult classic the second it went on sale. We all knew that it was never going to sell in anything approaching significant numbers, and if that "we" didn't include those actually working at GM, one would have to wonder what they were smoking. Cadillac was still having a hard enough time trying to convince people that it was now a BMW-fighting sport luxury brand rather than the purveyor of Grandpa-piloted land yachts. To many, a sport sedan like the CTS seemed like a stretch. But a CTS sport wagon? It sure seemed like GM was just doing things for funzies, an impression only enhanced by the CTS-V Wagon. Forget cult classic. That thing was an instant legend. And yet, the CTS wasn't the only Cadillac of that era offered as a wagon. It wasn't even the first. Before GM said "to hell with it, let's have some fun" on this side of the pond, over in Europe, it had already taken a page from its old badge-engineering playbook to create the 2006 Cadillac BLS Wagon. It was available as a sedan, too, but its awkward majesty is best enjoyed as the long-roof model. There's just something off about the whole thing, right? That's probably because it also looks vaguely familiar, as if you've seen it before. So where the hell does this thing come from? Sweden! Behind that Cadillac Art and Science face is a Saab 9-3, and in the case of the BLS Wagon, the Saab 9-3 Sport Combi wagon. The roofline is the dead giveaway, as no other wagon has ever looked like that. In fact, the roof and windows were the only exterior elements to copy directly over from 9-3 to BLS. No kidding. With the Cadillac front end, doesn't the Saab-funky-boxiness make it look like a miniature hearse? The answer is yes. GM's design team, led by Ed Welburn, was quite pleased with his work. Perhaps it even egged him on to create a real Cadillac sport wagon? "The whole team was very excited to apply Cadillac's design language to a wagon for the first time," said Welburn in a press release from the time. "The V-shaped chrome-plated grille, a Cadillac hallmark, is picked up again by the shape of the rear window, and the body side character lines make it unmistakably a Cadillac." The interior is surprisingly different from the 9-3, including the ignition switch migrating from the center console up to the steering column. It also wasn't exactly in keeping with the Cadillac norm of the time.
