I currently have a Saab 9-3 2001 for sale. I purchased this used in August 2012. It is an Automatic transmission with less than 83000k miles. Inspection is good until 7/2013 in PA. This Saab needs a new head gasket. This is common for this model and year. I bought this Saab used in the summer to use as a commuter car. I drove great then and I was fixing it up but then the head gasket blew. I do not have the time or know-how to fix it and I've already got another car to take this one's place. The car will start and run but it smokes from the exhaust so there is no way it could be driven safely or legally until it is repaired. The car would have to be towed or transported somehow by the buyer. This would be a good project car for someone. If you know cars and know how to work on them, then this car would probably cost around $500 to fix, maybe less. The cost is from the gasket that needs replacing, which is fairly cheap, replacing headbolts and getting the head machined at a machine shop. The car never overheated so it's possible that the head is not warped and doesn't need to be machined but it would be safe to do so anyway. The cost to repair would be much more if you take it to a shop to be done. The car has some cosmetic blemishes here and there. The top of the front bumper is scratched up but it would only cost around $75 to get a used replacement bumper to make it pretty. The windshield also has a scratch in it on the driver side. The interior is in good shape although front seats are a bit cracked and worn. The car has had a few parts upgraded and I have uninstalled parts that will also come with the car. See below for details

Installed:
4 New tires, less than 200 miles on them
A New CV joint and arm for the right front passenger side wheel.
New AC manual controls
New Battery
New Rear rotors and brake pads
New Rear Rotors and Shocks

Uninstalled but included with the car:
New Aftermarket DIC ( Direct Ignition Cassette)
New Fuel Pump (the fuel pump in the car works fine but the sensor in it is broke, causing the gas gauge to read Empty all the time. The new fuel pump comes with sensor to fix this issue)
New Fuel Filter
New Front Rotors and Brake Pads
New PCV Update Kit

I want to reiterate that the car needs a new head gasket and it should not be driven until it is replaced. The buyer is responsible for transport or arranging shipping of the car. Please ask questions before bidding. I will be happy to answer all questions honestly to the best of my knowledge. Local buyers are welcome to come see the car before bidding.

Victor Muller to pay Sweden back taxes for Saab work

    Thu, 03 Oct 2013

Victor Muller, Saab's CEO from 2010 to 2011, has been ordered by the Swedish court to pay the back taxes he owes the country for his work at Saab, Autoweek and Volkskrant report. When he was the automaker's CEO he received a salary of about 8 million Swedish Krona ($1.25 million), which was recorded as a reward for consultancy work for a company in the US that Muller owns. The move allowed him to evade taxes for awhile, but the court has ordered him to pay taxes on his full salary.
Muller, who is also CEO of Spyker, and two other Saab executives were accused of accounting fraud in May, which took place in 2010 and 2011. According to reports, Muller maintains that he is not subject to taxes in Sweden.

GM wins appeal, dismissal of $3B Saab-related Spyker suit

    Sun, Oct 26 2014

It's been a long time since we last heard of the legal battles between Spyker CEO Victor Muller and General Motors, the automaker from which Muller's company purchased the embattled Saab brand back in 2010. To refresh your memories, after struggling through 2011 and entering into bankruptcy, Spyker attempted to save the Saab brand by selling it to a Chinese consortium. General Motors, though, blocked the sale because it did not want any of its intellectual property, of which Saab was in possession of from its days under the GM umbrella, in the hands of a potential rival automaker. Spyker then sued GM for intentionally blocking what it said was Saab's only chance of survival. The $3-billion suit was dismissed after a judge ruled in favor of GM, which apparently had granted a license to Saab to continue building cars using its technologies, but reserved the right to cancel that agreement if Saab again changed hands. Spyker appealed, and, according to Reuters, the appeals court upheld the previous ruling, again siding with GM. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the company that eventually purchased Saab out of bankruptcy, managed to restart production for a short period before itself falling into financial trouble. We have at least another month to wait before hearing how Saab's next chapter may read.

Chunk of ice smashes man's windshield

    Tue, Jan 5 2016

Driving a car piled with snow isn't just lazy, it's dangerous. A driver on Interstate 495 South in Massachusetts learned that the hard way last week after a huge chunk of ice flew off the top of an SUV and onto his windshield. Jeffrey Cote's dashboard camera was running as he drove his Saab 9-5 Aero Wagon down the freeway in Haverhill, MA, Wednesday morning. He was following an SUV in the left hand lane. The SUV doesn't appear to have too much accumulation on it, but the owners clearly didn't remove the snow and ice from the very top of the vehicle. A large chunk of ice flew off the top of the SUV, spun through the air and shattered Cotes windshield. Cote's must be one of the cooler heads on Massachusetts' roads. He didn't swerve, or swear or even gasp. Despite being unable to see the road and covered in glass Cotes safely moved over to the right lanes and safely pulled off on to the shoulder after the accident. The ice not only totally destroyed Cote's windshield but damaged a wiper arm and his side mirror as well. "If I had braked harder, I could have avoided impact," Cotes wrote in the video description. "But it initially appeared the piece was going to fall in front of me." Cotes couldn't read the driver's license plate on the footage and told CBS Boston that he doesn't think the other driver even realizes what occurred. He told the news station he hopes the video reminds people to do the right thing and clear the snow off their cars. "Just a few seconds, just try to slam as much ice as possible off your roof," Cotes told CBS Boston. "Because, it could have gone a lot worse, and it could save someone's life if you do a better job cleaning," Cote said. News Source: CBS Boston Saab Driving Safety Videos snow winter driving cold
