The car was part of a large collection and chauffeur driven during its time in the Beverly Hills - Palm Springs California area, with the first owner, close to 20 years. He also added a custom burl walnut steering wheel, including the center with RR logo and matching interior walnut veneer panels all by Rao woodworking in LA. The spirit of ecstasy hood ornament has a custom gold wash applied. The rear seat phone is intact. The second owner from Missouri purchased the car for use at his family's condo in LA and the car was kept there until I acquired it in 2008. It was transported by FEDEx closed carrier to my home in Pennsylvania. It was always garaged and has been a very reliable and good driving car over the last 6 year for us but as the mileage indicates, was driven only sparingly (we put about 4000 miles on it), mostly on Sundays and only in good weather. It comes with 2 sets of hubcaps, the everyday ones in the photos and the color matched stainless steel ones from the factory. Set of 4 Kelly Navigator tires installed to replace the originals in 2008. The mileage stated above is accurate as can be seen on Carfax. The Missouri title for the car was exempt for mileage and so the PA mileage exempt title had to follow. The car will be available for inspection (9/25 - 9/28). No warranty is expressed or implied. The vinyl roof is in excellent condition. The dash has a few thin cracks in the lacquer. The rear passenger door has only a small flaw in the door top veneer. Rear view mirror has lost a little silver around the edges. Not a perfect car but really, really nice for age.  Please feel free to submit questions through ebay, text or call 724-698-3475.

Ventilator built with help from Rolls-Royce receives approval in UK

Thu, Apr 16 2020

LONDON — Britain has given the first regulatory approval to a ventilator being built by a consortium of firms including Airbus and Rolls-Royce as part of efforts to combat the coronavirus. Governments around the world are trying to boost the number of ventilators — mechanical breathing devices that can blow air and oxygen into the lungs — available to their health services. The modified version of an existing device by Penlon will join a product from fellow medical firm Smiths, which is already being built by the group of aerospace, engineering, Formula One and automotive companies to fulfill a government order. “We are working closely with our supply chain partners to rapidly scale up production to achieve our target of at least 1,500 units a week,” said Dick Elsy, the chief executive of the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium. The government said on Thursday it was confirming an order for 15,000 Penlon devices. AirbusÂ’ Broughton site, which makes wings for commercial aircraft, along with FordÂ’s Dagenham engine factory and McLarenÂ’s Woking site are being used as part of the process, he said. Separately, vacuum-cleaner firm Dyson is still awaiting approval for its ventilator. Related Video:

Car companies used to cook up sales with recipe books

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

The evolution of automotive marketing has undergone a number of strange phases. Few, though, match the strangeness of the 1930s to 1950s, when automotive marketers turned to cookbooks as a means of promoting their vehicles. Yes, cookbooks. We can't make this stuff up, folks.
This bizarre trend led to General Motors distributing cookbooks under the guise of its then-subsidiary Frigidaire. Ford, meanwhile, offered a compilation of recipes from Ford Credit Employees (shown above). The cookbook-craze wasn't limited to domestic manufacturers, though. As The Detroit News discovered, both Rolls-Royce and Volkswagen got in on the trend, although not until the 1970s.
The News has the full story on this strange bit of marketing. Head over and take a look.

Rolls-Royce shows bespoke Pinnacle Travel Phantom in Beijing

Fri, 18 Apr 2014

Rolls-Royce is exclusive. Rolls-Royce's Bespoke Collection, though, takes that exclusivity to the highest levels, representing the very finest work that the craftsmen at the company's Goodwood factory are capable of producing. With the Pinnacle Travel Phantom, set to be shown at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show, Rolls-Royce may have finally outdone itself. Apparently, the puzzling name (as well as the reason it's being shown in Beijing) comes from China's second consecutive year as the largest outbound travel market in the world.
The one-off custom job wears a gorgeous two-tone paint scheme, with a section of Silver Sand and a lot of Madeira Red paint. The intricate coachline includes a few small details that just add to the exterior's specialness.
The cabin, though, is where the work has really been done. It has throw pillows, for crying out loud. Ignoring the silvery poofs on the back seats, the cabin is dominated by Morello Red and Seashell leather, the former of which is on the seats, doors and interior partition. The woodwork, is some of the most beautiful we've seen from Rolls-Royce, which is saying something.
