Up for auction is a one owner, non smoker, always garaged, low low low miles, pristine, immaculate, perfect, spectacular, one of a kind (condition wise) 1986 Rolls Royce Silver Spur that has spent it's entire life in Southern California.  There is NO better premium example of a used Rolls Royce than this car!  Tags are good until December 2014 in California.

Everything works on the car with the exception of one item: the rear passenger side window.  The window goes down but does not go up.  Other than this one item everything else is functional as far as I can tell (including the a/c blowing cold).  However, due to the age of the car I am not responsible for anything that does NOT work upon purchasing the car.  Something could stop working the next time the car is started!  However, at the time of this auction everything except the window is functional.

The car looks, drives and smells like the day it was delivered.  As you can tell from the photos it is in excellent condition (thanks to our beautiful Southern CA weather and the fact that we don't drive our luxury cars in the rain!).  The car will be sold so I am starting the auction off at only $9,995.00 with no reserve above this amount.  In other words a bid of $9,996.00 (or higher will buy the car!).  There is NO buy it now price.  The car is located in Costa Mesa, California 92626 and is available for showing by appointment only.  Sold in as is and where is condition.

To view the car in person please call my assistant Eder at 714-768-1681.  The winning bidder is responsible for picking the car up in Costa Mesa, CA 92626 or having it picked up by transport (I will assist in loading the car).

Rolls-Royce Alpine Centenary Ghost makes its first North American appearance

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Rolls-Royce choose this year's Shanghai Motor Show as the occasion to show off its achingly cool Alpine Trial Centenary Edition Ghost, but The Quail was the site of the car's North American coming out party.
The one-off Rolls pays tribute to a heroic moment in the marque's history, when four 1913 Silver Ghosts, three factory cars and one privateer entry, successfully completed the 1,820-mile Austrian Alpine Trials. The privateer racer in question, James Radley, is the gentleman responsible for the pretty color combination you see on this new Ghost. Radley's blue bodywork over black wheels looked great in 1913 and haven't lost any luster 100 years on to our eyes.
You can revisit the details about this historically rooted Rolls-Royce in the press release below, or simply take a stroll through our fresh gallery of images from The Quail.

Rolls-Royce planning plug-in hybrid

Mon, 10 Mar 2014

Rolls-Royce is not the first marque you'd think of when it comes to environmentally friendly transportation. Its cars are big - often the size of SUVs - and pack ginormous twelve-cylinder engines displacing over six and a half liters. Those upright Parthenon grilles can't be very aerodynamic, either. But the way the wind is blowing these days, Goodwood will have to get with the program sooner or later.
It developed an electric version of the Phantom a couple of years ago called the 102EX and showed it to customers around the world. But people weren't interested, so Rolls-Royce killed the program. Not to be deterred, however, Rolls is now said to be working on a plug-in hybrid that would countermand some of the shortcomings - like range and recharging times - that killed the 102EX.
The technology would apparently be borrowed from parent company BMW which is developing it for the X5 eDrive and allow Rolls-Royce to reduce its carbon footprint and offer a more environmentally friendly mode of transportation to those who don't want to skimp on the luxury and prestige.

Rolls-Royce Phantom celebrates decade of decadence

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

Ten years ago, Rolls-Royce opened its Goodwood manufacturing facility and handed over the keys to the very first Phantom. Back then, parent company BMW was cranking out Phantom sedans at the blistering pace of one unit per day. By the end of 2003, that number had tripled, and today, the Goodwood plant builds a total of 20 Phantoms in sedan, coupe, drophead and extended-wheelbase models during a single day's working hours. Originally, there were fewer than 400 workers on staff responsible for hand-building the big cruisers, but now the plant boasts over 1,400 craftsmen, with 100 of those positions added in 2012 alone.
Rolls-Royce boasts one of the lowest staff turnover rates of any brand in the industry, thanks in part to a successful apprenticeship and internship program, and the company notes 80 percent of its workers live within 15 miles of the facility. You can read the full press release on the 10th anniversary of both the Phantom and the Goodwood plant below.
