Very
desirable "chrome bumper" car with celebrity ownership status. This Silver Shadow is not only a beautiful example but is unique
in that it was owned by famous singer of the 50's and 60's; Kay Starr.
I have a file on the car which records her ownership along with the original
Californian number plate; "Ms Jelly" which was her affectionate

Silver Shadow finished in 2-tone Cornish beige over Tobacco with parchment Connolly
hides. It has hand-painted fine lines to the waistlines and hubcap beauty trim
rings finished in contrasting tones. This unique combination presents quite
stunningly providing a very classic look of the era. The beauty about these early Silver Shadows is
that they are “as the designer intended” – as Rolls-Royce conceived the car
without all the safety requirement specifications introduced shortly after.
Subsequent Silver Shadows had big changes to the dash board to meet The interior of the car is beautiful. The
leather is in very good original presenting condition with welcomed patina and remains soft and supple. Door
panels, interior chrome work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine
condition. Even the clock tick-tocks good time. And that wood, is to die for! The exterior of the car is straight and the
paint presents in nice condition. The car appears to have been repainted and looks to be some 15 years old. There are some early signs of minor crazing on the top surfaces (bonnet, boot and roof) but only detectable upon close inspection (shallow and not deep). This is an early sign these areas may need repainting but one could easily go a good number of years as they remain. Make no mistake, the finish is otherwise high in luster with a deep shine all over with only the most minor little chip, nick and blemish as you would expect of a 15 year old paint job. It presents well with chrome and glass in fine condition. The trunk has all its original carpet fitted and
is very clean and dry. Photos include a pic of the carpet folded back to reveal
the original under felt which is like new. Tyres are Michelin (205/75). Hubcaps
are straight and were recently buffed so the stainless steel is shiny. Mechanically the car is in good order. It has
been recently work-shopped by Park-Ward with all the hydraulics/braking system serviced and
working well. The engine truly purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. The
car is very spritely in power which is a good sign of a well cared for and good
condition motor. The car has lived most of its life in
A/C blows ice cold and the heater works well. All interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lamps working as they should. Original jack (still in original factory wax paper wrapping) and operating manual, including a file of various service work receipts come with the car. ~~ The release of
the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow in 1966 took the motoring world by storm and left
even the most renowned luxury car manufacturers with dropped jaws and consumers
in awe. It was to be the single most successful model ever to be produced by
Rolls-Royce Motors. This one is a beautiful example and provides as an
excellent all-round 8 out of 10 driver/collectible and/or take it as it is to

No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Doors and windows:- Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment. Take this example and apply it to the many, many different aspects of Rolls-Royce restoration, service and maintenance and you have our dedication to correct and professional vehicle pre-delivery preparation and commissioning.

Although licensed and bonded, I am not a main-stream retail car dealer or broker; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with the marque which I take seriously. I take pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to come and personally inspect the car. As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make
every effort to bring my cars to a high standard. By comparison, my cars are
generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You
must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show
standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars
of this model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for
prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition.
You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to
receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please
also understand, the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it
is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have
inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are
classic cars also because they are old. So this means a 45 year old car is
predominantly comprised of 45 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All
buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break
and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with
hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical
American car of the same vintage. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are
usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these.
Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior
design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and
brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things
that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a
brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time
replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered
"preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically
requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this
additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly
one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 47 years old.
This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was
very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for
the following condition: Being a classic car
in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be
recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the
accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown and accepts no responsibility for
any discrepancy with independent reports such as Carfax, AutoCheck, etc. In
this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage
indicated or shown. Also, due to test & maintenance driving, the indicated mileage may also vary as at time of delivery to that stated in this listing. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange
shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility
for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the
close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days
from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction
end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-47 year old vehicle, and
while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it
across the country”until you have familiarised yourself with the car. At least,
I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in
enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home. I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, only few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, Rolls-Royces are not without nuances, idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to own a Rolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them! As the old saying goes; "we love to hate them and hate to love them!" Rolls-Royce hosts first ‘Cars and Cognac’ event in the U.K.
Tue, Jun 12 2018For more than 100 years, Rolls-Royce has produced some of the world's most desirable and expensive automobiles. The British automaker has now gone one step further, by instantly making any future "cars and coffee" gatherings pale in comparison to the brand's first-ever "Cars and Cognac" event, held June 8, in the U.K. Yes, we're guessing our invitation got lost in the mail, too. "The 'cars and cognac' meet demonstrated the wonderful spirit of our customers as well as their deep passion for the brand," said Julian Jenkins, regional director for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. "This evening was reflective of the rich dialogue between Rolls-Royce and its patrons; a truly unique and extremely rare relationship, one which we are privileged to nurture." We couldn't help but notice the comment about "rich dialogue," which is fitting for a brand whose least expensive offering, the Ghost sedan, starts at roughly $300,000. The evening borrowed heavily from California car culture, where cars and coffee meet-ups can see anything from slammed economy cars, customized muscle cars, or hyper-cars with multimillion-dollar prices gather at the same place. Of course, very few — i.e. none whatsoever — have featured cognac tastings conducted out of a customized Rolls-Royce-endorsed picnic basket. That's correct, a sommelier stationed at the tail-end of a Phantom sedan was handing out quaffs of fine cognac courtesy of an official Rolls-Royce Picnic Hamper. This is a thing, and you know you want one. Other cars making a cameo appearance during dinner included a Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge fitted with the new "Aero Cowling." This hard tonneau cover fits snugly over the rear seats, to give the 593-horsepower convertible the look of a true two-seater. The event was held at the Soho Farmhouse, a member's only club located on a 100-acre property in Oxfordshire, approximately two hour's drive northwest from central London. On its homepage, Soho Farmhouse details its indoor and outdoor pools, multiple club rooms for special events, tennis courts, horse stables, football pitch (that's soccer for you silly Americans), and the intriguingly named Electric Barn Cinema. The entry-level membership, called Local House, with access only to the Soho Farmhouse facility, starts at about $1,700 at current exchange rates. To have access to all Soho House properties around the globe, the price runs around $2,200 (depending on whether your membership application is accepted).
Rolls-Royce bringing three customer-commissioned cars to Beijing show
Mon, Apr 22 2024Rolls-Royce inaugurated a customization center called Private Office in Shanghai, China, in 2023, and it will bring the first three cars created in the facility to the 2024 Beijing show. The builds are based on the Spectre, the Phantom, and the Ghost, and they're inspired by travel. The cars are grouped under the Spirit of Expression label, and each one is given a name. Shown above, the Spectre is named "Escapism" and finished in a color combination that references a flower called lantana found in the South American tropics. The top part of the coupe is painted in Tempest Gray while the bottom wears Lantana Red paint. This color also appears on the center caps fitted to the 23-inch wheels. Inside, there's Selby Gray, Purple Silk, and Sunset leather upholstery, Sunset piping, and a Starlight headliner with Sunset-colored lights. Rolls-Royce Phantom Spirit of Expression View 15 Photos Somewhat more subtle than the Spectre, the Phantom is an extended-wheelbase model named "Magnetism" that's also characterized by a two-tone look. Designers headed to Sicily's Cala Luna beach for inspiration: There's Kabira Blue paint above the beltline and Cala Luna Sand paint below it. Arctic White and Cala Luna Sand accents add a finishing touch to the look. The interior gets a Starlight headliner with white and Galileo Blue lighting, an array of stainless-steel inlays, as well as Blue Gray, Navy Blue, and Arctic White leather upholstery. Rolls-Royce Ghost Spirit of Expression View 12 Photos We're off to Boracay Island in the Philippines for the Ghost, which is called Expressionism. Boracay Blue paint "evokes the sunsets over Boracay Island," according to Rolls-Royce, and it's accented by a hand-painted Lime Green stripe added as a reminder of the island's tropical landscapes. Black, Arctic White, and Lime Green leather upholstery dominates the interior. Look up, and you'll see a Starlight headliner that features a unique wave pattern, "like silk in the wind," created with over 1,000 "stars." There are eight shooting stars, too. Rolls-Royce notes that the three Spirit of Expression cars were commissioned by customers, so they'll presumably head off to their new home when the Beijing show closes its doors. The brand will open additional Private Office centers later in 2024, meaning we'll undoubtedly see additional one-off models before the end of the year. Rolls-Royce points out that most of its clients pay extra to customize their car.
Rolls-Royce Spectre electric coupe testing moves to sunny southern France
Thu, Jul 28 2022Rolls-Royce's first series-produced electric model is well on its way to production. Called Spectre, the big coupe is undergoing shakedown testing on and off the track in the sunny south of France, and the British firm announced that development work is about 40% complete. Going electric isn't an excuse for Rolls-Royce to stray from the reputation for excellence that it has earned over the past 116 years, so engineers are putting the Spectre through the most rigorous testing program they've ever subjected a new model to. We're told that, when all is said and done, the prototypes will have covered over 1.5 million miles of testing, which represents on average more than 400 years of use for a Rolls-Royce. Some test mules were sent to freeze in Sweden near the Arctic Circle, while others were shipped to the French Riviera. Testing in France will be split into two parts. First, the Spectre will be put through its paces on the track that Rolls-Royce parent company BMW operates in Miramas, a town located about an hour west of Marseilles. Engineers will notably get the opportunity to drive the prototypes on handling courses, on a 3.1-mile oval with steep banks, and in standing water. when they have passed every challenge with flying colors, the prototypes will be sent out to the picturesque roads that zig-zag through the countryside surrounding the test track. Rolls-Royce explained it's putting a tremendous amount of effort into fine-tuning the Spectre because the coupe packs more technology than any model it has previously released. It features "141,200 sender-receiver relations and has more than 1,000 functions and more than 25,000 sub-functions," according to the company, which is around three times more sender-receiver signals than in a typical Rolls-Royce. The Spectre will inaugurate a new suspension system that promises to take the firm's Magic Carpet Ride to the next level. It relies on technology that scopes out the road ahead and on data sent by the navigation system to decouple the anti-roll bars when needed, such as on a straight road, and recouple them as the car approaches a corner. The suspension system also gets firmer ahead of a bend. Rolls-Royce hasn't released powertrain specifications yet, and the Spectre's final design remains hidden by camouflage, but the few official numbers available are impressive.
