Absolutely Beautiful 1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow,  Original Paint,  has been meticulously maintained and serviced starting at Rolls Royce of Beverly Hills where it spent most of its life (in Beverly Hills) and with its second owner lived just as comfortably in Palm Springs where it was extremely well cared for also. Garaged its entire life.  Virtually 2 owners (second owner passed on to daughter for a few recent years).  I have a folder with over 50 invoices/pages from service records/receipts to one that even says "Undercarriage wash and polish and sterilize".  Over the years many many things have been replaced as needed for ex. wiper motors, new A/C system, any clip or system flush etc.. was done.  Very impressive.  Most everything works and is in tip top shape.

Factory Royal Blue Everflex vinyl top is in perfect condition as is glass.  Rare color combination.  Royal Blue leather is rich and supple and the luxurious burl wood is flawless.  Wood has been redone professionally and is in amazing condition.   Headliner is in such good shape it may have been replaced also.  There are no tears in leather or cracks in dash or wood.  Engine is quiet and smooth  and is an absolute pleasure to drive (recently went through thorough inspection.)  If I had to guess the mileage by driving I would guess well under 50k instead of 101k.  I have nearly 100 pictures I would be happy to make available upon request and emailaddress.  I will also be attempting to put a video online for your viewing pleasure :) If I can not get it in this listing for some reason (I do not think liks are allowed) do a youtube search for  "1976 Silver Shadow SLC Utah" and you can watch it this weekend.  As with any luxury car they can not all be flawless so here are my only known negatives.  As with most of these particular hand crafted Rolls Royce works of art, there is an area where most of these cars,  if not all over 30 years old, have slight cracking or stress in the original paint. If you look close in a few areas you can see them, mainly where the top meets the paint behind drivers rear door there are a couple of chips and cracks.  I have taken some pics to show some of those few areas.  Overall it is in amazing condition and am willing to sell at a more than fair price.  I noticed there are several asking between $20k - $30k,  (one with very low miles appears to have sold for $29k according to completed listings in green (ebay item # 251279402268 if interested in looking).  Please feel free to call with any questions 8OI647IOI2 anytime. Will accommodate anyone interested in inspecting in person or with a service shop and can come drive etc..

I will ship worldwide , call 8OI647IOI2 for a shipping quote.  It so happens I have connections in the shipping world and can help with international shipping or within the US with reputable transports.  Buyer responsible to pay for shipping but I would like to help make it easy. Vehicle is sold as is where is with no warranty. I do have the car for sale OR trade locally for something interesting so I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime if a local buyer presents the right cash offer or trade offer.  Please contact me with any questions whatsoever at 8OI647IOI2.  I will pick up anyone at the airport as well.  Cash in person accepted or bank wire transfer (or may be willing to accept cashierscheck if I can verify with bank).  If you have any concerns about its condition you can google a service shop within my general area and I will deliver there if you want to arrange/pay for inspection with any mechanic of your choice.        As much as I would like to keep this piece of art I must keep my word with my wife....and I lost the vote with my 4 kids...If I get a new piece to add to my collection I must choose one to leave and my young family likes the bright red convertible porsche.  Please do not bid if you have not secured funds or do not intend to follow through..please..please as it takes a great deal of time and effort. If you have little to no feedback please contact me.

Could Rolls-Royce expand business with new models?

Mon, 12 Aug 2013

Rolls-Royce may be forced to expand its lineup beyond the über-luxury cars gobbled up by the ultra-wealthy jetset, as new competition in the form of the rumored, high-end Mercedes-Benz S-Class could take a slice of the luxury pie from the BMW-owned manufacturer.
Automotive News reports that this, along with the combination of BMW's unwillingness to move above the price-point set by the 7-Series and Bentley's expansion into the SUV realm, could force Rolls-Royce's hand. AN is arguing that, as unrealistic as it might sound, Rolls could develop a four-door crossover or shooting brake, but that any such plans are in the earliest of stages.
In the near term, the smallest Rolls-Royce, the Ghost, will get a refresh in 2014, while the sporty Wraith fastback will spawn a convertible variant by 2015. The big boy of the Rolls-Royce range, meanwhile, is due for a far more comprehensive re-do. The Phantom is expected to share a platform with the next-generation 7-Series in 2016. Advanced materials are expected to feature heavily, as Rolls-Royce seeks to trim body fat and improve fuel economy without compromising the performance or comfort expected of the brands' flagship model.

eBay Find of the Day: Andy Warhol's 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

Sun, 25 May 2014

Andy Warhol is one of the most recognizable artists of the 20th Century. With hits like his famous Campbell's soup cans and Marilyn Monroe portraits, he is likely the first name you think of in association with the pop art movement. He isn't known for being an auto enthusiast, though, but maybe that's not entirely the case - there was his BMW M1 art car, after all. Now, Warhol's 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is up for auction on eBay Motors.
According the seller, Warhol never had a driver's license, but he still wanted to own a luxurious car. It's claimed that he occasionally had his famous friends, including Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, chauffeur him around in the Rolls. Following Warhol's death in 1987, the car was auctioned for $77,000, and since then it has only been sold to one additional owner.
The Rolls is painted Walnut and Mason's Black, which appears closer to a shade of brown in these photos, with a black leather interior. The engine is the company's' popular 6.75-liter V8 with a three-speed automatic transmission, and there are just 56,000 miles on this luxurious classic. The seller is including copies of original purchase order from Rolls-Royce and the title to Warhol Enterprises to prove the famous artist's ownership of the car, plus all of its service records.

Grey Poupon to air new version of famous Rolls-Royce ad, this time with car chase [w/video]

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

Grey Poupon mustard will revive the concept behind its famous Pardon Me commercials with a new ad that will air only once on television during this Sunday's broadcast of the Academy Awards.
The original spot, which showed two one-percenters sharing the condiment between their Rolls-Royces at an intersection, first aired all the way back in 1981, and variations of it continued up through 1997. Kraft, owner of the Grey Poupon brand, is hoping that reviving the commercial will boost sagging sales and raise the mustard's profile with a younger generation of fancy folk.
So why are we talking about this on Autoblog? Because the new version of the ad won't end with a polite passing of the bottle. Rather, we're told a car chase ensues when the Grey Poupon's owner doesn't get it back. We're assuming the two cars in question will again be a pair of Rolls-Royce sedans, probably Phantoms unless they go with more vintage model years.
