~~oo00oo~~ Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow "LWB" 1971 Rare and desirable Long Wheel Base ("LWB") in stunning virtual concours condition. This is a stunningly presenting, low mileage and excellent condition Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base ("LWB") finished in the very regal combination of Ocean blue (metallic) with Dove grey Connolly hides and contrasting pale blue carpets. It has craftsman hand-painted fine lines to the waistlines and hubcap beauty trim rings finished in a matching light grey. The colour combination is rare and is very formal in its presentation. The car has been in the hands of its original owner for most of its life having been caretaken in the last 10 years by a small car collector enthusiast who hardly used it and simply admired it. The cars was climate controlled housed and correctly "storage commissioned". When we received the car, it was in very original condition and only showing modest signs of a Silver Shadow now due for restoration. Such a nice example that we decided to do a deserving restoration to her. The exterior of the car was straight and totally rust free with the underside clean and tidy. Only for some light scratches and blemishes, a complete re-paint in the original factory colour was undertaken by the The fine lines on the car were applied in the same manner as Rolls-Royce has always done to its cars for many years; a trained craftsmen with a good eye and steady hand. With only the best squirrel hair brush, the striping is applied entirely free-hand in one elegant stroke at a time. Even the lines on the hub-cap beauty rings are applied without guiding tools and relies only upon the eye and hand of the craftsman. The Everflex vinyl top in black is its original fitment and is in amazing condition without any blemishes, fading or "drying". The interior of the car is all original and in excellent condition. The leather remains soft and supple and is the factory original Connolly hide leather. It is without any tears or unsightly wear marks and displays the original Connolly grain. A good indicator of a low mileage Silver Shadow that has been rarely used. Door panels, hood-lining, interior chrome-work, gauges and instruments are all in very fine condition. The carpets are the original The African burl walnut wood throughout was also redone by Park-Ward and is outstanding. This includes the dash, console, door cappings, vanity mirrors and windshield finishers. The finishing process involves no fewer than 25 individually applied coats of clear lacquer each hand-rubbed between coats to provide a glass like finish. The final product can only be best appreciated in real life. As a wonderful bonus, the wood sports a very detailed and intricate grain with a soft marbelling in the centre regions complemented by very intricate rich knotty burl at the outer areas. Such is the beauty of natural wood that Mother Nature can bring us something so beautiful and with the bonus that it is unique to this one Silver Shadow. Only Rolls-Royce can bring us such elegance. The trunk presents clean and crisp like the rest of the car. Tyres are correct fitment whitewall Michelin MX4s in good condition. They are the correct 215/75/15 size. The hubcaps are perfectly straight without any kinks or rashes and the stainless steel recently polished to a mirror finish. Mechanically the car is fantastic. It has been recently work-shopped with the entire car "re-commissioned" from its days of rest. This includes all the hydraulics and braking system. With the car having low mileage and all the signs of having been laid-up correctly, she is very tight and in true operating condition. The engine purrs and gear-change is smooth and quiet. She rides down the road without rattles or thumps. Showing only some 50,000 miles, who can be truly sure of its authenticity, but with a review of the overall condition and especially its original interior, engine bay and under-side, this mileage is surely correct. A/C blows ice cold and the heater works well. All interior and exterior lighting has been checked with all bulbs and lamps working as they should. Original jack and operating manual come with the car. This is one of those rare Rolls-Royce finds that has found its way to the right people for re-commissioning. Like all cars restored and sold thru Park-Ward Motors, this Silver Shadow has been meticulously scrutinised mechanically and electrically with anything needed, attended to. All our cars are not just "tidied up" for sale but are subject to professional Rolls-Royce inspection and service to ensure it is in good operating condition. This includes important and expensive attention to the entire hydraulics and braking system to include; brake pumps, accumulators, hoses, lines, valves, calipers and pads. All our Rolls-Royces are then subject to a "pre-delivery commissioning" process after its sale and prior to shipment to ensure all features and functions are operating as they should. This professional attention to detail is not offered by any other classic Rolls-Royce on-seller in the country. ~~ A pedigree Silver Shadow LWB, in a rare colour combination. It is in fantastic condition. Make no mistake, the car could be shown as-is at your next Rolls-Royce meet. It ranks very comfortably as a 91/2 out of 10 driver. ~~

The Long Wheel Base ("LWB") Silver Shadow is longer than the standard sedan by an additional 4” in length in the rear door. This provides considerably extra leg-room for rear seat passengers. The LWB is easily identified by the unique smaller rear window and the Everflex vinyl top as standard equipment.
A note from RRMOTORSINC: “For those Rolls-Royce enthusiasts who have followed my auctions in the past I welcome you all. For those who are new to my adverts and/or the marque, please note that as a serious collector of some 30 years, all my cars are truly described examples. I have my own private Rolls-Royce workshop (not open to the public but dedicated to my own cars) with trained Rolls-Royce craftsmen who are proficient in all aspects. We have now exceeded 200 Rolls-Royces and Bentleys restored and sold for shipping world-wide from our current premises. As a team, we are dedicated to the preservation of the marque and as such, any car that leaves the stable is completely inspected and work-shopped to ensure mechanical and operational items are maintained appropriately. We adopt a “keep it original” mentality with pride and confidence, offering after sales technical support and assistance well beyond the sale. Because most of my cars are offered for the pleasures of driving enjoyment it is not always possible or practical to seek perfection (in the true sense of the word) but we do always uphold excellence in whatever we do. Our cars are by no means cheap priced cars but we like to think they are amongst the best. To this end, I firmly believe in the famous adage; “Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.” We hope you do to.” When our Rolls-Royces are commissioned for resale, they are indeed professionally and correctly “fully work-shopped”. No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Doors and windows:- Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment. Take this example and apply it to the many, many different aspects of Rolls-Royce restoration, service and maintenance and you have our dedication to correct and professional vehicle pre-delivery preparation and commissioning.
Standard Terms & Conditions for all Rolls-Royce & Bentley sales by RRMOTORSINC: As a collector and experienced restorer of the marque, I make every effort to bring my cars to a high standard. By comparison, my cars are generally superior to others available but they are by no means perfect. You must expect some issues. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of nice "driver" condition. Please understand, show cars of this model cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to achieve and sell for prices commensurate, so the sale price of this car reflects its relative condition. You are buying "condition" accordingly. Buyers should not expect to receive concours quality or "perfect" cars at these prices. Please also understand, the very nature of these classic Rolls-Royces is such that it is not always possible to attend to every item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked items. Further, and very importantly, these cars are classic cars also because they are old. So this means a 42 year old car is predominantly comprised of 42 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 38 years old. This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. If any aspect of the description contradicts what can be seen in the photos, then the photos shall prevail as the reference point. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any written or oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU BID AS, RESPECTFULLY, THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS. I am sorry if these terms seem harsh but there seem to be some very unrealistic buyers out there - fortunately, only few of these people exist but those that do can make life difficult, so it appears EVERYTHING needs to spelled out. Very simply put, this is an old car being offered for sale. It is not new and is subject to the perils of age. Further, Rolls-Royces are not without nuances, idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to own a Rolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them! As the old saying goes; "we love to hate them and hate to love them!" So, please respect the terms and conditions when you bid. ~~oo00oo~~ ~~ **Please note: This Rolls-Royce is part of the collection of the

Rolls-Royce spotted testing even sportier Wraith
Mon, 10 Nov 2014A Rolls-Royce is not what you'd typically consider to be "sporty." Luxurious. Stately. Even powerful, packed as they are with twelve-cylinder engines displacing in excess of six and a half liters. The Wraith set out to change that with a sportier package, more rakish profile and an even more potent version of the Ghost's 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 to make it the fastest and most powerful Rolls-Royce ever made. But now it seems Goodwood is working on an even more aggressive version.
Spotted undergoing testing in parent company BMW's home country of Germany, this particular Wraith might strike you as the same one we've already seen, save for a few telltale details. It may be wearing the same rolling stock as the existing model, with what look like the same tailpipes protruding ever so elegantly around back, but at the bottom of the front bumper and atop the rear trunklid you'll notice more assertive spoilers added on.
To what end, we cannot be certain, but our spotters on the ground seem to think this is a prototype for a more extreme version of the Wraith - possibly inspired by the attention garnered by the Bentley Continental GT3-R. Could we be looking at a Wraith V-Specification like we saw with the Ghost? We'll have to wait to find out for sure, but in the meantime you can scope out the virtually undisguised prototype in the gallery of high-resolution spy shots above.
Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II represents a host of subtle tweaks
Tue, 04 Mar 2014It's not every day that an automaker admits in its own words that a new generation of one of its models is a "subtle redesign," but that's exactly how Rolls-Royce is describing the changes made to its Ghost Series II. Most of the bodywork has seen very light resculpting, including what the brand is calling a tapered "wake channel" that starts just behind the beloved Spirit of Ecstacy's wings evoking "the sight of a jet's vapour trail" and "hinting at the car's dynamism."
So much does Rolls-Royce want to emphasize the Ghost Series II's so-called dynamism that it uses the descriptor a total of eight times in the press release that you're welcome to read below. Looking past that all-too-current buzzword, what we see here is clearly a Rolls-Royce, clearly an ultra-luxury sedan and clearly desirable.
Rest assured, prospective buyers will see all the latest technology inside the new Ghost's interior, including a 10.25-inch high-definition screen and a Spirit of Ecstacy Rotary Controller so as not to "leave unsightly fingerprints at driver and passenger eye level." Of course, plenty of customization is available for the most discerning of buyers, and two new wood veneer options are available - Paldao and Walnut Burr Crossband.
BMW profit of $2.7B is down as automaker invests to keep luxury lead
Fri, 02 Aug 2013
Despite selling 6.6-percent more vehicles - a record by volume - and posting higher revenues in the second quarter of 2013, BMW Group's profit of 2.07 million euros ($2.75 billion) is down 8.8 percent from last year. Investments in new technology (e.g. the new i3) and personnel, in addition to a competitive market, are to blame, BMW states. But the automaker remains committed to its fiscal targets for 2013, which, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, Norbert Reithofer, says will be "on a similar scale to 2012."
The BMW brand's sales performance in the first half of the year, which increased by 7.7 percent to 804,258 vehicles delivered, was good enough for it to maintain its lead in the luxury market, narrowly beating Audi, which delivered 780,510 vehicles, Automotive News reports. Mercedes-Benz delivered 694,433 vehicles to cement third place.
