Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Hand-built world famous luxury. Feel like a captain of industry at the price of a used Camry.
This Rolls runs and drives excellently. Starts up easily every time. Freshly tuned and ready to go on that special journey. The transmission was just serviced, does not leak, and shifts well. The brake and hydraulic system has been rebuilt and serviced recently; it is functioning perfectly. There are NO WARNING LIGHTS OF ANY KIND lit. The vehicle goes drives on the road very nicely and it feels like the stately Rolls Royce it was built to be.
This is rust a free California car. Its paint shows very nicely, but upon close inspection there are small paint chips and minor paint imperfections here and there. As with all Silver Shadows of this era, there is some cracking of the paint around the windows. More importantly, most all of the paint issues could be solved through a professional detail and paint touch up. With that said, a picture is worth a thousand words and as the recently taken (3-31-13) auction pictures depict, the car looks SUPERB. I am always extra critical of condition when selling on ebay, I have sold a number of cars on ebay and my feedback speaks for itself.
The black upholstery is all leather and looks like it was redone at some point. The leather is still very soft and supple. The dash and door caps wood pieces have been refinished and look excellent. The dash pad has no cracks.
If you are a perfectionist, the car could use a new headliner and the wind lace trim refinished, but these items are very serviceable as is.
The original radio is in the car, but is not hooked up at present. A power antenna will come with the sale.
I am selling this car simply because I have too many cars and am looking to thin out my collection a bit. The car is currently on non-operational status with the California DMV and no back fees are owed. The title is clear and in my name. The vehicle has had the emissions testing completed and comes with a California smog certificate.
The car is sold "as is." I will assist any prospective buyers with a pre-purchase inspection at any reputable shop in the LA area. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. I am happy to take additional pictures of the car for any serious buyer. The car is very close to the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and I can facilitate transportation there for International shipping.

Rolls-Royce builds the Sweptail, a beautiful one-off boattail coupe
Wed, May 31 2017When it comes to custom-built cars, Rolls-Royce rarely fails to impress. Its latest creation is this one-off coupe called the Sweptail. According to Rolls-Royce, it was commissioned by a collector of bespoke machinery, and the car's design inspiration was the coachbuilt Rolls-Royces of the 1920s. The end result is an enormous Rolls-Royce coupe with a beautiful trailing boattail design. It looks like a hyper-expensive boattail Buick Riviera in the best way possible. A glass roof sheds light on a particularly plush interior. There are only two seats in the massive coupe. Where rear seats would have gone, are shelves made of wood and glass for storage. Wood veneer, consisting of ebony and paldao, is found everywhere in the car, even in the cargo areas. The darker wood trim is also accompanied by light colored leather. The Sweptail has a few little tricks up its sleeve, too. Opening the suicide doors on either side will reveal platforms for attache cases. The cases are designed to carry the occupants' laptop computers, and they're constructed from carbon fiber, wrapped in leather, and finished with aluminum and titanium hardware. Between the seats is a chiller that comes complete with crystal champagne flutes and a bottle of champagne from the year the owner was born. The trunk is also filled with custom-fitted luggage. Being a one-off, you won't be able to buy one of these coupes yourself. But it does show the capabilities of Rolls-Royce for doing special automobiles. And, who knows, if you have the money and connections, you might be able to have your own unique Rolls-Royce commissioned. Rolls-Royce commissions a Faberge egg
Tue, Oct 23 2018What you see above, is probably the equivalent of the movie The Avengers, but for the ultra-filthy-rich. It's the ultimate crossover of luxury brands, Rolls-Royce, and the famed jewelry company Faberge. It's a special egg made by the jeweler that's themed around the luxury car builder. And naturally, it's an "Imperial Class" egg. This means it's similar in size, complexity and quality to the original 50 made for the Russian royal family, the very ones that helped make Faberge so famous. It's also only the second to be commissioned, since. The other was commissioned by a Middle Eastern jewelry group. The egg is quite modern and simple in design. It stands about 6 inches tall, and it weighs nearly a pound. A rock crystal Spirit of Ecstasy sits in the middle, surrounded by arcing arms. Each arm is made of rose gold with 390 carats of amethyst and 10 carats of white diamonds. The whole egg sits on a machine-turned white gold base with a purple enamel coat. Like many Faberge eggs, this has mechanical workings. Pressing a lever causes the many arms to descend, making the Spirit of Ecstasy visible. The egg will be on display at Faberge's London store this December for the public to see. After that, Rolls-Royce says it will be heading for the home of a private collector of both Rolls-Royce and Faberge creations. Rolls-Royce Phantom Metropolitan Collection wafts into the annals of exclusivity
Fri, 03 Oct 2014Limited-edition, hand-built cars are kind of a bizarre thing. On the one hand, people pay umpteen amounts of money for bespoke cars, with the manufacturer adding that iconic descriptor to all its press materials, but then the company goes and produces 20 of the exact same car and sells them as a "special edition." It seems kind of contradictory.
Rolls-Royce must not see it that way, though, as it has just unveiled one of 20 Metropolitan Collection Phantom sedans at the 2014 Paris Motor Show. As the latest member of the brand's Bespoke Collection, the Metropolitan joins the Phantom Drophead Coupe Waterspeed Collection, the Pinnacle Travel and the Ghawwass Edition.
According to Rolls-Royce, the Metropolitan Collection pays "homage to the world's great metropolises" by way of the company's well known craftsmen. The veneers, particularly on the second row picnic table, get extensive attention, with just the table using 500 individual pieces of wood.
