1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow ---no Reserve !!!!! on 2040-cars
Athens, Texas, United States
1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow No Reserve auction!!!!! This car is complete and appears to be pretty solid. It would make a good rebuilder, parts car, or I was actually thinking about making it a hot rod. It shows 42,690 on the odometer. I do not know if that is correct, but I do know that it was owned long term by a lady in our small town--so it may be. I do not know anything about the mechanicals on it other than it was being driven when parked. Interior is somewhat rough, but not absolutely destroyed. Tires are good, engine has antifreeze in it and the oil looks primo. It appears to have been maintained. Right Hand Drive Most rust on the car is surface only, although there is some rust over the rear wheel wells and a bit in the trunk floor around the battery. This Car was running and driving when parked in 1998. It has not moved since then until I pulled it out of a barn a few months ago. It will need a lot of work to be driving again, but I would bet that it will run. The wiring is a mess as it has had mice chewing on it apparently. The car is located in Athens, Texas. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. |

Rolls-Royce Alpine Trial Centenary Collection celebrates century-old Austrian race
Tue, 23 Apr 2013Among the harvest of premieres at the Shanghai Motor Show was a special-edition Rolls-Royce Ghost to celebrate the 1913 Austrian Alpine Trials. Four Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts entered the race a century ago, and in completing the 1,820-mile challenge flawlessly earned the sobriquet "The Best Car in the World." The new Ghosts commemorating the feat represent two firsts for the brand: Rolls-Royce has never created a bespoke homage to one of its own cars, and it has never released a car with a black grille.
Those two features, as well as blue paint and black wheels, are in tribute to James Radley's privateer entry in that 1913 race that drove alongside the three factory teams. Other special features include the coachline (pinstripe) that evokes the four cars from the 20th-century race, and inside, a color-matched headliner, a clock with the rally stages and times, and topographical inlays on the front fascia and rear picnic tables.
The 20-Ghost Club will be reenacting the event this year, the parade including Radley's 1913 car. It kicks off in Vienna, Austria on June 14. For the time being you can read the press release below and check out the high-res photos above.
Rolls-Royce Cullinan spotted playing in the snow
Wed, Mar 9 2016This is no ordinary Phantom. Not that you'd call any Rolls-Royce ordinary, considering the brand's stratospheric pricing and hand-built pedigree. But this one is extra special, because it's a test bed for the British luxury brand's very first SUV, tentatively known as the Cullinan. We've known Rolls-Royce was out and about testing this brand-new, all-aluminum platform in the wild, but this is the first time we've seen it so clearly. It looks a little bit like a shortened Phantom sedan, with big swathes of metal seemingly cut away from the rear doors, but it's more than that. We can't be certain, but there's probably a big V12 engine underhood sending torque to all four wheels, and it looks to be riding high enough to offer some legitimate off-road capability. The aggressive tires are another giveaway that this Rolls may be going places no Phantom before it has dared. With Bentley finding success in the luxurious 'ute market with the Bentayga, we're sure Rolls-Royce is pushing to get its Cullinan into the driveways of one-percenters the world over as soon as possible. See the mule for yourself in our high-res image gallery above. As for us, well... we're just wondering what happened to that sweet rear spoiler. Rolls-Royce seriously considering SUV
Mon, 16 Sep 2013A Rolls-Royce Phantom may be the size of an SUV, and the Ghost isn't that much smaller. Still, according to reports, the high-end British automaker is seriously evaluating the prospect of adding a proper sport-ute or crossover to its lineup.
The news comes courtesy of Bloomberg, which spoke to Rolls-Royce chief executive Torsten Müller-Ötvös at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. Although the rumor of a potential Rolls off-roader has been floating around for several months now, this is the first we've seen of the company confirming the possibility.
The development would follow similar projects being undertaken by rival automakers. Former sister-brand Bentley is preparing to launch an SUV, Jaguar revealed its own concept crossover at the same show, Maserati is gearing up to start production of the Levante and even Aston Martin has considered the idea of a crossover.
