1976 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, Silver Over Black. on 2040-cars
Langley, British Columbia, Canada
1976 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow. Silver Grey over Black with red pin stripes (also matching twin pin stripes on the wheel covers). I purchased this car in Las Vegas about 28 years ago. I drove it home to Vancouver, BC and used it sparingly. About every 3 years or so I would drive the car for a month or so in the Summer. (I had as many as 23 cars in my collection). Recently I have not driven the car very much at all. It gets driven on the roads in our property occasionally, but has not been licensed for the public road since 2002. There are zero dents or dings. I had the car repainted in 1990 because of a blemish caused by spilled brake fluid. The exterior shows extremely well. The interior has the usual patina on the leather and the shellac on the door caps needs a re-do; see the close up pics. The cloth material on the A pillars has some sun damage, see pic. The last time I drove the car, it had developed a sticking brake caliper on the front left corner. This still needs fixing. If you have any questions or need additional photos, just ask. |

Rolls-Royce confirms Wraith convertible for 2015
Mon, 04 Nov 2013Until a few years ago, the Rolls-Royce product portfolio revolved around one model line, and that was the Phantom. But with the launch of the Ghost in 2010, the Goodwood-based automaker is expanding further. As with the Phantom line, a long-wheelbase Ghost ensued, followed by a coupe in the form of the Wraith. And now, as might have been expected, Rolls-Royce has reportedly confirmed development of a new convertible based on the same platform.
The new cabrio will be based closely on the Wraith, only with a convertible roof. Expect the same 6.6-liter twin-turbo V12 that powers the Wraith to carry over with the same 624-horsepower output - the highest of any production Rolls-Royce - but with a bit more weight to push, the convertible ought to be a bit more sluggish off the line than the Wraith's 4.4-second 0-60 time.
We can also expect a higher sticker price, but closer to the Wraith's $320,000 MSRP than the Phantom Drophead Coupe's $470k. Whether Rolls opts to call it the Wraith DHC or use another nameplate entirely remains to be seen, but Autocar reports that the new Rolls cabrio won't arrive until 2015, so we've got a little while to go.
Man orders $20M-worth of Rolls-Royce Phantoms
Fri, 19 Sep 2014The term "luxury" gets thrown around a lot when speaking about vehicles that are actually somewhat affordable like BMWs and Cadillacs, but Rolls-Royce and hotel magnate Stephen Hung (above in the wild suit) are proving what real opulence really is with the largest single order from the fabled British marque, ever. Hung is purchasing 30 custom examples of the Phantom Extended Wheelbase (pictured right) for $20 million. To push the deal even further over the top, two of the Phantoms are the most expensive examples ever commissioned.
This assemblage of über-luxury sedans isn't for Hung's personal collection. Instead, the cars are going to be part of the fleet for the swanky hotel and casino that he's opening in Macau, China, in 2016 called the Louis XIII. According to The Washington Post, when the 200-room resort opens, the Louis XIII is supposed to be one of the most mind-blowing places in the world, including a suite that costs $100,000 a night.
When completed, the 30 cars will be in matching crimson red to echo the exterior of the hotel. That color will be carried into the interior trim, as well, including the gauges, and the seats will have a checker board pattern. Each one will be outfitted with a bespoke clock from Graff Luxury Watches. The two most expensive Phantoms will get all of this attention, plus gold-plated trim covering the interior and exterior.
Rolls-Royce Ghost meets its muddy maker in Jakarta flood
Sun, 20 Jan 2013When severe weather or a natural disaster strikes an area, it's hard to get sentimental over trivial possessions like cars, but at the same time, as auto enthusiasts, it always pains us to see a rare car lost regardless of the circumstances. Heavy rains in Jakarta, Indonesia have produced the worst flooding in the city since 2007, which according to Reuters has left an estimated 18,000 people displaced from their homes in addition to six deaths, leaving the roadways covered covered in feet of water.
One of the many cars claimed by the rising waters was this Rolls-Royce Ghost that is surrounded by water that almost fully covers the massive wheels. There is no word as to how much water got inside this Ghost, but it was obviously enough that it could be bailed out by the bucket.
