Up for auction is a 1974 Rolls Royce Silvershadow in running condition. This car belongs to a friend of mine who bought the car in 2009 just as a toy to drive around in parades. He bought another Rolls and this one was moved outside to where a tree branch fell on the car and made a little dent on the drivers rear fender and a scratch on the hood as you can see in the pictures. I started storing the car last year for him and it has been sitting in my garage since then. He has finally decided that he has too many cars so he asked me to go ahead and sell this one. The car has always started right up when I have needed to move it, it moves freely. I have only driven it around my neighborhood, I have never had it out on the interstate but it rides well. He had the brakes done shortly before I began storing it, they seem to work fine. I do not know alot about these cars so I tried to take enough pictures so that you can see the condition of the car. As I said, the car starts right up and the transmission engages properly without any issues. I have noticed recently that when you start the car there is blue oil smoke from the exhaust. I believe this is being caused by oil getting into the combustion chambers because the valve guides have gotten dry due to the car siting so much and not being run. I also believe that if you took the car and drove it for awhile this problem would clear up. It doesn't leak water or overheat, a couple of the power windows don't work, could be a switch, I don't know. The drivers window works, that really is the only one I have had down. My friend had a CD player put in but he can't find the detachable face plate. There are some cosmetic issues with trim pieces, and the kick panels will need some attention, but overall the car is in pretty good shape for a nearly 40 year old vehicle. The obvious advantage is that the car is drivable and my friend has put a very reasonable reserve on the car. Hopefully you can see from the pictures that the interior and door panels are still in very good condition and the head liner is intact. If you have any further questions I will do my best to answer them. The car is being sold "as is" without any type of warranty being implied or stated due to the age of the car. If you are within 100 miles of my zip code, 30043, I will put the car on a trailer and deliver it for free. If you need the car delivered to a shipper, I will be glad to do that but you must make all the arrangements and the vehicle must be paid for before it will be delivered or dropped off. I will do a $500 non-refundable deposit. Thanks for looking.

Rolls-Royce shows its festive side with limited-edition Neon Nights models
Sun, Nov 29 2020Anyone who has traveled to Las Vegas has undoubtedly seen brightly-colored Rolls-Royces parading down the Strip, but these head-turning creations usually weren't painted at the factory. The firm decided to flaunt its flamboyant side and one-up the tuners by releasing a colorful trio of limited-edition models named Neon Nights. Rolls-Royce based the Neon Nights on the Black Badge variants of the Wraith, the Dawn, and the Cullinan. Buyers have three colors to choose from: Lime Rock Green (for the Wraith), Eagle Rock Red (for the Dawn), and Mirabeau Blue (for the Cullinan). The first two receive gray leather, while the latter gets a white interior. Stylists didn't choose these colors at random. Lime Rock Green, in Rolls-Royce's own words, is naturally bestowed on the Australian green tree frog. One of its paint specialists spotted one while traveling. Eagle Rock Red is inspired by the flowers of a Hawaiian tree named 'Ohi'a lehua, and Mirabeau Blue is the paint team's tribute to the Periander metalmark butterfly that's native to Central and South America. After selecting suitably exotic plants and animals, Rolls-Royce's in-house paint team set out to give each hue a neon-like glow. Building the Neon Nights cars on the Black Badge variants peppers a bit of irony on the project, but it also gives customers more power. Pop the Cullinan's long, stately hood to find a 6.75-liter V12 that's twin-turbocharged to 600 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, up from 563 and 627 in the regular model. Both the Dawn and the Wraith receive a twin-turbocharged, 6.6-liter V12 with 593 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque on tap, increases of 30 and 15, respectively, over the cars not ordered with the optional Black Badge package. Rolls-Royce explained it initially planned to cap production at one car per color, and it noted the trio was created specifically for customers in the United States. Unexpected demand from other global markets convinced the company to paint three additional cars in each color, meaning a total of 12 examples will be produced. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but the buyers the British firm is trying to reach don't need ask for a window sticker. Related Video:
Rolls-Royce rolls out one-off Ghost Golden Sunbird in China
Thu, 19 Sep 2013In 2001, archeologists in the palace city of Chengdu, China, uncovered the Golden Sun Bird, an ancient artifact that dates back to the Shang Dynasty from 1000 BC. The disc depicts the sun and is made of almost solid gold, measuring five inches across and weighing 20 grams. The city adopted it as its logo, and now Rolls-Royce has commemorated the find and the heritage behind it with a unique one-off.
Based on the long-wheelbase version of the Ghost, the Golden Sunbird edition features a two-tone white and gold paint scheme, with gold coachline and gold grille topped by a gold Spirit of Ecstasy. The interior has likewise been gilded with gold embroidery atop the light brown leather and white trim to match the coachwork.
The result may be elegant but is certainly not subtle. And of course it's just the latest in a long line of special editions and one-offs Rolls-Royce has crafted, particularly for markets in the Middle and Far East.
Rolls-Royce Phantom celebrates decade of decadence
Fri, 04 Jan 2013Ten years ago, Rolls-Royce opened its Goodwood manufacturing facility and handed over the keys to the very first Phantom. Back then, parent company BMW was cranking out Phantom sedans at the blistering pace of one unit per day. By the end of 2003, that number had tripled, and today, the Goodwood plant builds a total of 20 Phantoms in sedan, coupe, drophead and extended-wheelbase models during a single day's working hours. Originally, there were fewer than 400 workers on staff responsible for hand-building the big cruisers, but now the plant boasts over 1,400 craftsmen, with 100 of those positions added in 2012 alone.
Rolls-Royce boasts one of the lowest staff turnover rates of any brand in the industry, thanks in part to a successful apprenticeship and internship program, and the company notes 80 percent of its workers live within 15 miles of the facility. You can read the full press release on the 10th anniversary of both the Phantom and the Goodwood plant below.
