Motor Car Description

Hello, and welcome to a special auction that has been designed for your enjoyment. I am a broker, and I have been hired by the owner of this vehicle to sell it for him on ebay. He is a doctor, and does not have the luxury to sell his own car. The pictures that have been taken for this auction are from my own digital camera, and the downloaded pictures are specifically for this auction. The pictures have not been touched or photoshopped, they are the original pictures that you see. How do you introduce a car, but not just a car, a motor car. A motor car that is considered the "Best Car In The World." I would like to present to you a 1972 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, showcasing the 6.7 Liter, V-8, engine that was introduced by Rolls-Royce in 1970. The snow white factory paint, with factory blue vinyl top, drips with luxury with hand painted matching pin stripes on fenders and wheel covers. The rich, and soft Connolly Hyde leather seats, that were dyed in matching blue are more than comfortable. The Walnut-Burl wood, split trim, a Rolls-Royce hallmark, are opposite matching wood grains to the front doors as well as the rear doors. The all wool headliner is in perfect condition. The matching blue Wilton wool carpets are comfortable and I am told many women sitting in the back seat, did not want to put their shoes back on. The center console and dash come with radio and 8 track tape player. Adjustable arm rests. Engine is carburated, lubrication by wet sump, and ABS brakes. Don't forget the battery is in the trunk. Fuel tank capacity about 28 gallons, the car weighs about 4,670 pounds. and comes with a 120.2 wheel base. As most British cars during this time period. used Lucas electrical wiring throughout the vehicle.  The Rolls-Royce has had only two owners since new. We have some maintenance history. Tires are new, has about 75,000 original miles on the odometer. Clear title and pink slip in hand. This Rolls-Royce has been in Southern California it's entire life and it has always been garaged. All services are up to date. It is wonderful to drive, and very powerful. General motors air conditioning system and General motors transmission assembly, works, shifts and drives on point.

Romancing the Rolls

Twelve years ago, two Doctors finished a seminar at a Hotel and were in conversation as they walked out the front door. Asking where the one had parked and he said right here, the other doctor said where? The other answered right here and pointed to a white Rolls-Royce with blue top and trim. The Hotel knowing that by putting a Rolls-Royce in front would show the public the type of customers they cater to. The other Doctor was surprised and went for a ride. He stated that he wanted one too, the same year and color. His friend took him seriously and after a two year search, found a matching White and Blue Rolls-Royce like his. Found it for sale in Palm Springs, California. A perfect dry place to locate a nice clean and nicely kept motor car. His friend drove out to Palms Springs and bought the car on the spot. They both had matching cars. Many seminars, meetings and family gatherings, the two matching Rolls-Royces would bring a crowd, and start comparing the two cars. The Doctor that owns this car, has always felt honored to have it. It was not just a car, but a symbol of the achievement of hard work. He felt he earned and enjoyed the extra special attention given to him and his family while driving it. Regardless the condition that you find any Rolls-Royce, it still represents the symbol of high achievement, because it is still a Rolls-Royce. The other Doctor moved out of state, and both Doctors are no longer able to meet up with their families and their Rolls-Royces. Going out on the town, or a drive up the coast, is still glorious. It seemed the Doctor was always Romancing the Rolls.

The Quest for Perfection in an un-perfect world

This Silver Shadow will come into it's 40th Birthday, December of 2012. Not bad for those years! They say 40 is the new 30! As we all know, time marches on and sometimes it can show. We always want to look our best, but sometimes, there are things that need some work, some tender loving care, and in some instances, this beautiful motor car, has had some issues pop up. It is only fair, that I mention these items. As you read on, things can be fixed and repaired and brought back to factory specs. The following are items that have merit to mention. We have noticed that at times, the windows will stick, sometime they all go up and down and sometimes one or two will not go up and down. We noticed the gas guage fluctuates and at times, does not always read a full tank. With so many coats of shellack over the walnut wood, some cracking can occur. The wood in the doors is perfect, but the coatings on the dash show some cracking. Remember this car is in great original shape, it is not a restored vehicle. The air conditioning works, it is cool, but you can't freeze a turkey in there. The engine does have a tapping noise, which seems to come and go. Engine works good, and plenty of compression, a good solid engine, but something to eventually look at it, but does not seem to effect driveability at all. The blue vinyl top, looks good, but is showing wear, mostly in the areas where there is some stiching, over time, vinyl tops can dry out and stretch a little, and that maybe something to look at. The "Winged Victory" mascot on the radiator cap is there and with wings spread out and ready to lead this car ahead. The Doctor's family now is grown and left home, and they are downsizing and had to make a gut wrenching decision to let go of the "love of his life." Therefore, we present this car to you in this auction, to take home and cherish it as these owners have done for forty years.

2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn debuts [w/video]

Tue, Sep 8 2015

"It expresses this notion of opening up and the light coming in." Rolls-Royce officials said this of the new Dawn convertible during a private showing in Beverly Hills back in May. It was quite a coincidence, then, that the Friday I saw the Dawn in person was the first clear day in southern California after a stretch of unseasonable rain and clouds. I already told you many details about Rolls-Royce's new convertible Drophead, but now, ahead of its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week, we have the official release. And while the Dawn shares its underpinnings with the Ghost sedan and Wraith coupe, Rolls sees this new model as different enough to warrant a separate name. "It speaks of fabulous places and beautiful people." "Given its character, [the Dawn] deserved a name that was not ethereal," Rolls-Royce said. "It speaks of fabulous places and beautiful people. It's a lot sexier [than the Phantom]." And while the design seems like a convertible Wraith at a glance, nearly 80 percent of the Dawn's body panels are new. The doors carry over, but the chin is pulled forward by 2.1 inches compared to the Wraith and the grille is recessed by 1.7 inches. The beltline arches up around the back of the cabin, "how you turn a collar up on a jacket," according to one designer. The Dawn is a very pretty car, and the effect of the dark blue exterior contrasting with and orange interior stunning in person, if muted in the photos. The six-layer canvas top retracts in a silent operation, stowing neatly behind the open-pore wood deck just aft of the rear seats. In yet another breathless passage, Rolls says passengers should not be "inconvenienced by noise." With the top up, the profile of the Dawn is more three-box hot rod than the fastback look of the Wraith. A choice of 20- or 21-inch polished or painted wheels round out the exterior. Inside, Dawn is fitted with the same luxurious appointments and technology as Wraith and Ghost, with seating for four. Accessing the rear seats is easy, and there's ample legroom for tall passengers – I watched several six-foot-plus journalists nestle themselves back there without issue. That said, on planet Rolls-Royce the Dawn is not a 2+2. "In the world of Rolls-Royce, day-to-day mathematical norms don't always apply. That's why I say in the case of the new Rolls-Royce Dawn, 2+2 does not equal 4." But it holds four people. So, yeah. Rolls-Royce says the Dawn is its "most versatile canvas" yet.

Rolls-Royce to reach 4,000 units this year

Tue, 30 Sep 2014

Rolls-Royce is, by nature, an exclusive auto marque, but it has been steadily increasing its sales to the point that it could be looking at 4,000 units by the end of this year, setting a new record for the German-owned British automaker.
You don't even need to go back a decade to find Rolls-Royce sales hovering around the 1,000-unit mark. But that was when Goodwood only offered the Phantom saloon. The subsequent addition of the Phantom DHC and Phantom Coupe helped expand its portfolio, enlarged even further by the addition of the Ghost in 2010, by which time total sales were reaching 3,000 units.
The Spirit of Ecstasy marque has been hovering around the 3,500 mark ever since, but with the Wraith now in the mix and its reach extending into growing markets around the world, Autocar reports that global sales could top 4,000 units this year. (Of course that pales in comparison to one-time sister brand Bentley, which topped 10,000 deliveries last year, but Rolls-Royce typically competes at a higher price bracket.)

Check out King Charles III's $17.6 million car collection

Fri, May 5 2023

King Charles III's coronation will take place in England on May 6, and being crowned a monarch comes with a long list of perks with four wheels. He will gain full access to the Royal Family's fleet of cars, which is valued at about GBP14 million (approximately $17.6 million). The two most expensive cars in the collection are nearly identical: they're a pair of Bentley State Limousine models (pictured) built for Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III's mother, in 2002. Only two units were made, and they're both part of the Royal Family's fleet, so they're difficult to put a value on; it's not like one is going to end up listed on your favorite auction site anytime soon. British company Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, which compiled the list, estimates that each armored, 245-inch long sedan is worth at least GBP10,000,000 (roughly $12.6 million). Dropping below the eight-digit threshold, the second-most-valuable car in the Royal Family's fleet isn't really a car. It's the Gold State Coach, which Matchbox recently released a 1/64-scale replica of, and its value is estimated at GBP1.6 million (about $2 million). At 275 inches long it's even bigger than the Bentley limousine and it weighs about 9,000 pounds. It's 261 years old and designed to be pulled by eight horses, and has been part of every coronation since 1831. The rest of the Royal Family's vehicles are relatively mundane. There's a 1965 Aston Martin DB6 Volante that Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Phillip, bought for King Charles III on his 21st birthday. It's worth GBP1 million (about $1.2 million). The collection also includes a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI (about $627,000), a Bentley Bentayga (about $201,000), a Land Rover Range Rover long-wheelbase Landaulet ($133,000), a Jaguar XE (about $41,000), and a Land Rover Defender ($38,000). "Luxury cars have long been associated with the monarch and King Charles III, in particular, is known for his fondness of motor vehicles. His impressive collection features sentimental value with motors passed down from his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, to cars bought for him by his parents," explained Keith Hawes, the director of Nationwide Vehicle Contracts, in an interview with CBS News. Being at the head of a car-making nation's royal family also comes with drawbacks: Every vehicle in King Charles III's fleet is British.
