Additional Information about Porsche Cayman 2008 Base

Model Overview

Porsche's 2008 Cayman is powered by a 2.7L horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine making 245 horsepower. The Cayman comes with a standard five-speed manual transmission. A five-speed the Cayman can accelerate to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, 0.7 seconds faster than the Cayman, and reach 171 mph.. fuel-efficient compared to other sports car models; the Cayman with manual transmission carries an EPA-rated 20 mpg city, 29 highway. In addition to its stronger acceleration and higher engine power, the Cayman comes with larger weels, tires, and brakes. Cayman models, the engine is mounted mid-ship, just behind the seats, and power is delivered through the rear wheels. The Cayman has an exceptionally stiff body structure that is twice as flex-resistant than that of the Boxster roadster, which gives it especially crisp, precise handling, even on rough surfaces. The optional Porsche Active Suspension Management system (PASM) comes with Normal and Sport settings, allowing the driver to fine-tune the suspension for comfort or high-performance driving. Another performance-oriented option is the Sport Chrono Package, which adds a more aggressive calibration for the engine throttle, stability system, PASM and, if so equipped, the automatic transmission. Both Cayman models also have large four-wheel vented disc brakes with anti-lock. Ceramic composite brakes are optional for even greater braking power.Cargo space is a strength for the Cayman; the two-seater has a front trunk with 5.3 cubic feet of space along with a rear trunk that has 9.2 cubic feet; together, the space rivals that of many sedans, according to Porsche.

2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Think of the electric motor in the facelifted 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid as the cream filling in an Oreo cookie. Under the hood of this plug-in hybrid crossover is a 333-horsepower, supercharged 3.0-liter V6 with a 95-hp synchronous electric motor sandwiched between it and an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. The clutched powertrain allows pure combustion, pure electric or a combination of both to drive all four wheels through Porsche's permanent all-wheel-drive system.
Differentiating itself from the Panamera S E-Hybrid sedan, which shares the same basic powertrain and stores energy in a 9.4-kWh battery, the Cayenne crossover is fit with a more robust 10.8-kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers an estimated pure-electric driving range of up to 22 miles at speeds of up to 78 miles per hour.
To be one of the very first US media members to sample Porsche's latest fuel-efficient crossover, the automaker flew us to Frankfurt, Germany, to test the five-passenger Cayenne S E-Hybrid on its home turf.

Porsche 918 Spyder pre-production version in all its almost-done glory

Sun, 18 Aug 2013

Porsche continues the long tease of its upcoming 918 Spyder, with the latest instantiation here at the Pebble Beach Concours, with the car presented in pre-production form to the throngs on the golf course.
Just a few days ago Porsche dropped an image of the car on its official Twitter feed. True to that leak, this 918 looks damn near what we expect the full customer version to be when it is officially debuted in Frankfurt. The neon-green brake calipers are items new to this version of the 918, and seem to be an identical color to those found on the Panamera S E-Hybrid.
When it shows up as a drivable piece, expect the Porsche supercar, with its gasoline-electric drivetrain, to be pretty insane. Horsepower in excess of 800 ponies will be available with a toe-tap, while the price of entry is expected to come within shouting distance of $850,000. A good deal for Porsche to bring the thing to Pebble then, where buyers with that kind of cash are think on the ground (and most likely wearing sherbet-colored trousers).

'Ring Queen Sabine Schmitz battles Ron Simons in Porsche vs Ferrari scrap

Tue, 04 Jun 2013

We hope you have seven minutes to kill. RSR Nürburgring recently took the time to pit Sabine Schmitz and her slightly modified Porsche 911 GT3 RS against Ron Simons and his Ferrari 458 Italia in a sparring match around the infamous Green Hell. The clip begins with the two drivers engaging in a smidgeon of smack talk before the two get down to the business of beating each other's doors off around one of the most challenging courses in the world. Simons calls his car superior to Schmitz's 911, while Schmitz says she's up against nothing more than a Fiat driven by an old Dutch man.
Don't hold any punches, you two.
We won't spoil the finale for you, but we will say the tango is worth watching. At the end, the loser calls for a rematch. We can't wait to see that throwdown. Check out the clip below for yourself.
