2006 Porsche Cayman S Hatchback 2-door 3.4l on 2040-cars
Houston, Texas, United States
I'm selling my 2006 Cayman S, as I've decided to purchase a car that can be made track ready for much cheaper, such as a Lotus Elise. This car was my daily driver for about 4 years, and a secondary driver for 2 years. Many of the miles on this car are highway miles. The car is in great condition, considering the miles. Obvious sings of use exist, but overall, there's nothing major wrong with the car. This Cayman S drives like it's brand new though. I had a clutch done at 102,000 miles, and I got over 80,000 miles out of my first clutch. This car is incredibly reliable, beautiful, and over-all the best car I've ever owned. I don't want to part ways with it, but it is too pricey to make track ready. I have never tracked this car before, and only light driving. All services since 20,000 miles complete through Porsche West Houston. Please feel free to message me with any questions. NEW BATTERY INSTALLED 6/7/2014!

New details mooted about Porsche's '988' Ferrari rival
Tue, 08 Jul 2014We could be on the verge of a big expansion at everyone's favorite rear-engined German sports car manufacturer. Porsche is allegedly preparing a four-car assault that will be led by a proper challenger to the Ferrari 458 Italia (sorry 911).
Code-named "988," the new model will reportedly feature a mid-engined layout and, get this: a flat-8. Autocar, which has the story, expects that engine to displace about 4.0 liters, while the car itself will draw styling inspiration from the 918 Spyder. 600 ponies and over 400 super-accessible pound-feet of torque should be on tap with the new mill.
Joining the 988's supposed eight-cylinder is a new family of four- and six-cylinder boxer engines that Autocar claims will have a focus on power density and fuel economy. These new mills will be available in naturally aspirated, turbocharged and hybrid forms.
VW confirms development of 10-speed dual clutch, 134-hp/liter diesel
Fri, 26 Apr 2013Each year, the Vienna International Motor Symposium showcases some of the up-and-coming technologies automakers are engineering for the use in passenger cars, and Volkswagen AG CEO Martin Winterkorn revealed some big developments VW is working on for its future products. Winterkorn discussed a multi-faceted approach that VW is looking to reduce its fleet fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Some of the bigger news he discussed included a "high-performance" diesel engine that will produce 134 horsepower per liter and a 10-speed DSG automatic transmission. While no specific applications were mentioned, we can only hope this is for the Audi R4 we keep hearing about.
Another topic he touched on that caused us to perk up our ears was had to do with VW's plug-in hybrid technology. While we know the PHEV versions of the Audi A3 and Porsche Panamera are on the way, Winterkorn also said that these two models will be followed up by Golf, Passat, Audi A6 and Porsche Cayenne plug-in models. Scroll down for a press release highlighting the automaker's future fuel-saving initiatives.
Preserving automotive history costs big bucks

$1.8 million is spent each year to maintain GM's fleet of 600 production and concept cars.
When at least two of the Detroit Three were on the verge of death a few years back, one of the tough questions that was asked of Ford, General Motors and Chrysler execs - outside of why execs were still taking private planes to meetings - was why each company maintained huge archives of old production and concept vehicles. GM, for example, had an 1,100-vehicle collection when talk of a federal bailout began.
