Cayenne Turbo - Fast, Clean, Reliable on 2040-cars
Seattle, Washington, United States
Hello all and thank you for watching.
After 2 years of wonderful ownership, I have decided to sell my 2004 Cayenne. I bought the car with 63,000 miles at Grand Prix Motors in Portland Oregon, and I have used it as my daily commuter in Seattle (highway). it has always been garaged and very very well maintained, and that's important... jump to details below... I usually keep my cars for about a year. I have owned several 911s (964, 996 and 997), as well as many other cars (Range Rovers, Jags,...). It is the first time I keep a car this long and in a very weird way, it is one of the hardest to let go. The thing is the cayenne turbo has multiple personalities. You can dial exactly the type of ride that suits your mood... or the road. The Power is amazing, the supple leather seats are comfortable for hours, the sound system with the added iPod/iphone 5 plug is truly great. But more importantly, with the suspension settings, when you are tired or don't feel like having too much fun, keep it in high mode with the shocks on comfort and just cruise. I would call it the Range Rover mode. If you feel like you need a bit more precision, set it in normal and it will ride like a sedan. A 5 series comes to mind.... Now, set it in sport and kick in the manual transmission and it becomes a very engaging and raging car, especially in higher RPM... thrilling... Not quite a 911... don't believe what they say... but it gives a guilty kind of pleasure to be able to go so fast and turn sharp with a beast like that. A bit about the car. If you do not know much about the cayenne, I would strongly suggest going to rennlist.org and reading everything there is to be read about them. They are amazing cars, truly, but a few things need to be done to them. If you know about the cayenne, please note that everything has been done to this car: Valve body joint, cooling pipes and cooling tank, coils, AC and headlights have been fixed, cardan shaft and much more. I will deliver the car with all the invoices and a fresh PPI done at Akers Porsche in Seattle. Mark knows all my cars and can attest to what was done to the cayenne. This car is a bit special too: note the 20" Original Techart Wheels with Yokohama Parada Tyres with about 80% of life on them. Brand new front rotors and pads (rear are about 60%). I have added the Dension IPhone system (amazing). I have also changed the original steering wheel for a aluminum/leather flat bottom GTS wheel to match the trim. it provides a much thicker and better handle... perfect for spirited drive... driving a normal cayenne with the OEM wheel is a pain after this one! The color combination is pretty sweet too. I have always been a fan of contrast. Silver gray and Tan is really cool in my opinion and it is also pretty rare. One of the wheels unfortunately has a bit a rash on it. I will see to fix it before the car goes. I am a true enthusiast and a long time Porsche fan and owner. I have always been respectful of my cars and new owners who bought from me have always been very happy. You can look me up at 911passion on Rennlist. Thanks for reading and please let me know if you have any questions. Pierre. |

Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.
Magnus Walker and Alex Ross stop by Leno's garage with their 997 GT2
Mon, Feb 9 2015The market is littered with Porsche 911 tuners, with names like 9ff, Gemballa and TechArt leading the field. Seldom do any two ever collaborate on a joint project, but that's just the kind of match that was made at Jay Leno's Garage. That's where Alex Ross of SharkWerks and restomodder Magnus Walker first met, sparking a collaboration that yielded the car you see here. And fittingly, they've brought it back to the garage to show off what resulted. Though Walker usually deals with older Elfens, this time he applied his eye for style on a more contemporary 2008 997 GT2, decking it out with grey stripes, orange bumpers, gold wheels and decals and a tartan-upholstered interior. He left the mechanical bits to Ross and company, who dropped the suspension and increased output to 650 horsepower at the wheels (775 at the crank), surpassing the stock GT2 and even the later GT2 RS. The result is pretty hard-core and old-school, but you'll want to watch the video above to see for yourself.
Porsche acquires Kyalami race track at auction
Mon, 28 Jul 2014With more victories under its belt than any other manufacturer, you could say, in a figurative sense at least, that Porsche owns countless numbers of race tracks around the world. But here we're not talking about figuratively owning a track - we're talking about literally buying one. And Porsche has just bought Kyalami.
Kylamai, for those unfamiliar, is a grand prix circuit near Johannesburg in South Africa. Between 1967 and 1985, and again in '92 and '93, it was home to the South African Grand Prix, and has since hosted a variety of local and lower-level international races, but apparently fell on hard times. As a result, the track's owners - listed as Universal Property Professionals - put it up for auction. Bidders had to deposit four million Rand (about $380k) to participate, but after just 50 seconds, the auction was over.
The winning bid was placed - via telephone from the local press launch for the Macan - by Porsche South Africa CEO Toby Venter, who bid a reported 205 million rand (about $19.5 million) to take over the complex. The German automaker's South African division reportedly intends to keep the track open for racing, but could also be expected to use the facility for testing, customer track days and such moving forward.
