GoPro checks out Tokyo's automotive night life in 4K

There's something bizarrely fascinating about Japanese car culture, especially around Tokyo. The metropolis packs people tightly together in a way that would seem to make owning any car tough. And yet, there's still enough enthusiasm around anything with an engine to support everything from wildly tuned bosozoku rides with exhaust pipes reaching toward the sky to seriously fast Porsche and Lamborghini models. To promote its latest Hero4 camera, GoPro has embarked on a short film series called Adventure of Life in 4K, and the latest installment goes inside Japan's speed scene with some gorgeous cinematography of vibrant vehicles rocketing through the city. It's all mixed over more serene images of Tokyo landscapes that combine to form a mini-documentary that's a feast for the eyes. Petrolicious studies the purity of a Porsche 911 2.7 RS

Water-cooled Porsches are superior to the old, air-cooled models. This really isn't up for debate, despite the mob of Porsche purists, with pitchforks and torches in hand, currently descending on the Autoblog offices. Water-cooled models are more powerful and easier to live with, two factors that make modern Porsches just so darn amazing.
And while we won't hear arguments on anything we've written above, we will say that the old air-cooled models, while not superior, are just, somehow, better. They sound better - a lot better. They're simple, elemental and wildly entertaining things, that just beg for more and more. They rev in a way that forces drivers to work to unlock their power, rather than just push their right foot down. Part of the appeal of air-cooled Porsches, in addition to what we just listed, are the gorgeous cars they're slotted into, like the subject of the latest video from Petrolicious.
Starring a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS, this video is a bit shorter than recent ones, but it's no less exciting. This 911, complete with it's sweet-sounding exhaust is the kind of simple, entertaining thing we can watch over and over. Scroll down for the full video.

Ken Block's Gymkhana 8 to feature Dubai Police cars?

Yesterday we showed you the shiny Ford Fiesta that Ken Block will slide, spin, and hoon through the next Gymkhana video. In case the image above isn't clear, that video will drop at midnight EST on February 30th on the Ford Performance YouTube channel. We don't know all the entire premise of the video yet, but this Tweet from the man himself reveals that the video will be set in Dubai. Block is standing on the Fiesta we saw yesterday, and arrayed behind him are a handful of those famous Dubai Police cars you're probably familiar with. The force has a fleet of sportscars and supercars, and the purpose is outreach and goodwill among its citizenry, not necessarily the pursuit of criminals. This content is hosted by a third party. From left to right, we can see a Maserati GranTurismo, Porsche 911, what looks to be a Nissan GT-R obscured by Block's Fiesta, a McLaren (likely a 650S), Ford Mustang, and a Ferrari 599 of some ilk.
