This is the one!  A 4.8 liter, twin turbocharged, 550 hp, certified pre-owned 2009 Cayenne Turbo S.  I don't know if there are many out there in nicer condition than this one.  Prior to owning our 911 and this Cayenne, we never understood all the hoopla surrounding the Porsche brand.  You understand once you own one or if you've owned one; they truly build the best vehicles in the world.  Do you pay a premium for them?  Absolutely. Are the options ridiculously over the top and expensive?  Of course.  Do you forget about the price once you enter the cabin and notice how well everything is put together: wonderfully bolstered sport seats with suede inserts, full leather interior, alcantara headliner, carbon fiber trim, easy to modulate navigation.  Then, step on the gas and get ready for the ride of your life. This thing keeps up with our 2012 Grand Sport Corvette which is 2000+ lbs lighter.  Brutally fast, flat in corners and a capable off road vehicle.  If your searching for a Super-Ute, look no further.

This is a certified vehicle with 30,948 miles on it as of this morning.  The Porsche CPO program calls for 6yrs of coverage and up to 100,000 miles from the original in service date.  As you can see in the pictures, the original window sticker was reflective of a 135,000 MSRP.  According to Kelley Blue Book, a CPO '09 Turbo S with our options should retail for $85,711.  A Private Party transaction should command $69,111 for a fair vehicle and $78,411 for an excellent vehicle.  You can judge for yourself what your buying.  Please note the four tires on the rack in my garage.  On 12/21/2012, with 27,383 miles on the odometer, I had four new Pirelli Scorpion Ice and Snow tires installed.  Then on 4/17/2013, with 30,456 miles on the odometer, I had a fresh set of Continental Cross Contact UHP summer tires installed. The winner will receive the nearly new Pirelli winter tires.  We are the third owners, however, the second owner had this vehicle for a week before trading it in for an over the top 2012 Cayenne Turbo.

Is there anything wrong with the vehicle?  There is a small scratch on the back right passenger door (you can see the picture of me pointing at it).  Beyond that, there is curb rash on two wheels.

I should note that we did have speedy film applied to the vehicle to prevent any type of rock chips/scratches from piercing the clear coat of the front and lower parts of the quarter panels.  We also can transfer a Road Hazard Tire and Wheel Warranty to the new owner.  This warranty is good through 8/20/2017.

The winning bidder will provide a $500 deposit through Paypal within 24 hours.  From there, full payment is expected via certified funds with seven days.  We do have a clear title and would be willing to pick up the winner from several nearby airports: Lynchburg Regional (LYH), Roanoke Regional (ROA) or Charlottesville (CHO).  Otherwise, please plan on shipping the vehicle to it's final destination.

Please email me with any questions and Good luck bidding.

Volkswagen Group previews its wares on eve of Geneva show

Mon, 05 Mar 2012

The Volkswagen Group is comprised of 11 brands producing 240 vehicles across 49 factories throughout the world. So the best way to show off the range of the VW family is to cram a few thousand journalists and VIPs into a massive makeshift stand to outline the Group's goals, what's in the pipeline and what you'll be able to buy later this year.
To that end, VW pulled out all the stops on the eve of the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, bringing along 10 vehicles from across the range. We'll be delving into the details of each over the next two days of show coverage, but before that happens, you can read all about what we saw tonight from the cheap seats after the break.

Modded budget Mazda Miata takes on new Porsche Boxster in more challenges

Tue, 23 Sep 2014

Earlier this month, our friends across the pond at Auto Express released the first in a two-video series that would see them try and build up a second-generation Mazda MX-5 Miata that could best a standard Porsche Boxster around the track. While that first video detailed the mods to the MX-5 - a supercharger, some suspension upgrades and a new set of super-sticky rubber being chief among them - and set baseline lap times for the stock car, today, we have the results of the 5,000-pound ($8,200) upgrade job.
Of course, we aren't going to spoil those for you. You'll need to watch the full video, which recaps the upgrades before digging into a comparison of both straight-line-speed differences between the 2.7-liter Porsche Boxster and blown Miata, as well as their behavior and lap times on the track.
Take a look and let us know what you think in Comments.

The 2017 Porsche 911 RSR goes mid-engine, purists be damned

Wed, Nov 16 2016

Porsche unveiled its World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech Championship competitor with the 2017 911 RSR. And this 911 is different from the rest, as the 4.0-liter flat-six engine powering this beast is in front of the rear axle, not behind it. That's right, this 24 Hours of Le Mans competitor ditches the iconic rear-engine layout. Porsche isn't talking specifics on how exactly things are arranged back there. The engine is new, now based on the 991 911's block instead of the previous Mezger motor that's been used for years. The transmission design is new as well – it would have to be to accommodate the new location relative to the engine. The racecar has been engineered to meet the LM-GTE class, where it will go up against other mid-engine cars like the Ford GT and Ferrari 488 GTE. Moving the engine to the middle has given Porsche the ability to fit the 911 RSR with massive bits of aero, like the humongous rear diffuser that looks like it would be more at home on a machine of war. The only thing that can compete with the diffuser for size is the top-mounted rear wing, which shares a similar design to the one found on the 919 Hybrid. Going back to the engine, the direct-injected boxer motor, depending on the size of the restrictor, generates as much as 510 horsepower and sends all of its fury to the rear wheels. The engine is paired to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which drivers can employ through paddles on the steering wheel. The new engine doesn't have a lot of weight to push around as the 911 RSR, as required by regulations, weighs 2,740 pounds. Speaking of weight, the engine layout isn't the only change for the 911 RSR. For 2017, the car ditches its steel body for one that's made out of carbon fiber. The body attaches to the chassis via quick-release fasteners, making the vehicle easier to service as exterior elements can be removed with minimal effort. The racecar also gets a radar-based collision system – aptly named the "Collision Avoid System" – which is meant to limit the 911 RSR's encounters with faster LMP prototypes. Only time will tell if the new layout and aerodynamic components help the 911 RSR beat its competition. But there will be plenty of opportunities to see the racecar in action as Porsche plans to run the 911 RSR in 19 races during the 2017 season, the first of which will take place at the IMSA opener on January 28th at Daytona, where the racecar will make its track day debut.
