2002 BOXSTER S MANUAL 6 EXTERIOR--- EXCELLENT, NO DINGS NO DENTS, SHINY BLACK PAINT, EXCELLENT FACTORY RIMS WITH HIGH TREAD NEAR NEW TIRES. To note-- the convertible top is original and very good, it shows some light wear (garage kept condition) The rear window is clear, but it shows some tiny cracks were it meets the top. The passenger rocker panel below the door is dented, see all photos. INTERIOR--- VERY GOOD, SEE PHOTOS, FACTORY MAT SET, WIND DEFLECTOR, To Note-- the leather on the seat is very good, but on the bases there are some subtle dry or water areas along the stitching. Someone reached in and stole the radio faceplate. THE REMAINDER OF THE INTERIOR IS EXCELLENT. MECHANICAL--- EXCELLENT, NO WARNING LIGHTS, COLD A/C ALL BELLS AND WHISTLES WORK AS THEY SHOULD. NEARLY NEW TIRES. To note-- Brake pad light just came on. 2nd gear is quirky, it sometimes grinds, sometimes pops out, could be linkage, bushings, syncro, but it has an issue. ALL ELSE IS EXCELLENT. 2014 Porsche Panamera S E-Hybrid is one mean green machine
Sat, 20 Apr 2013The entire Porsche Panamera lineup gets a refresh for the 2014 model year, and new additions to the range include two long-wheelbase models and this E-Hybrid fuel-sipper that makes its debut here at the Shanghai Motor Show. And, well, we say "fuel-sipper lightly."
Porsche has packed its hybrid Panamera with 416 horsepower and 435 pound-feet of torque, and that certainly makes for one quick sedan-hatchback-thing. Hitting 60 miles per hour will reportedly take just 5.2 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 167 mph. And while Porsche hasn't revealed specific powertrain details, the company says that the S E-Hybrid "improves upon the concept offered by the previous Panamera S Hybrid with a more powerful electric motor," which leads us to believe that the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine at the heart of it all still remains intact.
Fuel economy numbers (or estimates) have not been released as of this writing, but we expect to have that information closer to the car's on-sale date later this year. As for the new battery system, Porsche says that when plugged into a 240-volt charging station, it can be fully charged in just two and a half hours. When topped off, the Panamera S E-Hybrid should have an electric driving range of around 20 miles at speeds up to 84 mph, though, obviously, not at the same time.
2014 Porsche 911 Targa
Tue, 15 Apr 2014I've watched the electro-hydraulic roof panel open and close about 73 times in the past hour, but its fascinatingly complicated operation still has me mesmerized. I've concluded that only a German automaker - Porsche, to be more specific - would go through the trouble of engineering a roof system that essentially lifts the entire greenhouse off a vehicle, rearranges its components like a sliding-tile puzzle, and then reassembles all of them seamlessly (sans roof panel) to accurately recreate one of its most famed bodystyles.
The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa is a near-perfect modern interpretation of the automaker's 1965 911 Targa, a semi-convertible bodystyle that represents nearly 13 percent of all 911 models sold since production started 50 years ago. While the early car's roof was purely manual in operation - that's the period-correct way of saying that the driver did all of the muscle work - today's Targa is a completely automated transformation that requires only that the driver hold down a cabin-mounted switch for a mere 19 seconds to let the captivating show run its course.
After studying the Targa's elaborate roof operation at its launch at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, I was sufficiently intrigued. To that end, I traveled one-third of the way around the planet to southern Italy, hoping that the Mediterranean climate would reveal a bit more about the reintroduction of the automaker's iconic sports car.
Take a POV hot lap in the Porsche 918 Spyder
Mon, 14 Apr 2014That title about says it all. This is a hot lap of the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX, with Porsche Works Driver Patrick Long at the wheel of a Porsche 918 Spyder. The camera is basically showing us everything that Long sees, making this not just one of the coolest 918 videos we've seen, but also one of the neatest laps of CoTA.
As Long peers through the bends, so will you. You'll see him fight the wheel, and find out just how difficult it is to hustle this hybrid hypercar around a world-class track at speed. It's pretty darn entertaining. There are also a few scattered shots of the 918's exterior just to break up the interior awesomeness, although we aren't exactly complaining about those. Take a look below for the short video from Porsche.
