Few people look back on their lives and wish they had bought that sweet minivan when they had the chance. Porsche, on the other hand, is a motoring legend. And the mid-engine Boxster is arguably the best driver's car they have ever produced. This is thanks in part to it's 2.7 liter 217 horsepower horizontally-opposed six cylinder engine being mounted low in the chassis for a low center of gravity and near-perfect weight distribution.
I've owned this 2002 Porsche Boxster for a little over a year and have thoroughly enjoyed it. But I've got the the itch for something new, so I need to make room in the garage and the bank account. It is up to date on all maintenance, and looks and runs great!
Listed below is all of the good news about this car.
It has has the following features and options:
•102,700 Miles
•2.7 Liter Horizontally Opposed ("Boxer") 6-Cylinder Engine
•5-Speed Manual Transmissio
•Power Windows, Locks, Mirrors
•Power Seats
•Heated Seats
•Tilt Steering Wheel
•Power Convertible Top
•Retractable Rear Spoiler
•17" Chrome Aluminum Wheels
•Remote Keyless Entry
•Cruise Control
•Automatic Air Conditioning
•Rear Wind Deflector
•Fog Lights
•Front and Side Airbags
•Anti-Lock Brakes
•AM/FM/CD Stereo
•iPod Adapter Cable
•Bose Audio System with Subwoofer
•Trip Computer
•Onboard Diagnostics
The following maintenance has recently been performed:
•Fresh Oil Change with Mobil 1 Synthetic Oil
•Filters Replaced: Air, Oil, HVAC Cabin Air
•Replaced Coolant Expansion Tank
•Coolant Flushed
•Replaced Serpentine Belt
•Replaced Front Anti-Roll Bar Links
•4-Wheel Alignment
Overall, this car is in great shape and will not need any maintenance for many thousands of miles. The engine is smooth and powerful, with that great Porsche soundtrack. The transmission shifts smoothly with precise clutch action. While this car is in great condition, it isn't new, and of course isn't perfect. But it also isn't $50,400 (plus $950 destination charge). Which is what you'd have to spend to get one that's brand new (and perfect). For that $38,400 discount, you'll have to accept some imperfections. While very glossy, the paint has some flaws and there are noticeable rock chips on the front bumper. There are no rips or tears in the leather seats, but there is some slight wear visible on the seats and armrests.

Paul Walker's accident due to 'speed, and speed alone'
Thu, 19 Dec 2013Following an investigation into the crash that killed Fast and Furious star Paul Walker and driver Roger Rodas, an unnamed law enforcement source told the Associated Press that there were no signs of mechanical failure on the Porsche Carrera GT that was destroyed in the accident.
The report from The Huffington Post claims the officer in question blamed "speed, and speed alone" in the fatal accident. The same report ruled out the presence of debris in the road, which may have caused Rodas to lose control of the V10-powered super car.
Engineers from Porsche are traveling to California to investigate the accident with the help of the Carrera GT's on-board data recorder. Until then, investigators won't speculate on the car's speed at the time of the wreck.
Porsche calling in two Cayennes
Sun, Jan 4 2015We regularly see recalls addressing all manner of problems (or potential problems) affecting any number of vehicles: hundreds, thousands, even millions. Some are too small to bother reporting, but once in a while one comes along that's so ridiculously small that we couldn't pass it over. Like this latest one from Porsche. "Due to a manufacturing error," says the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in the notice below, "the suspension alignment on the front and rear axles may not have been performed correctly and the screw connections of the camber, toe and caster may not have been tightened with the specified torque." The recall affects the 2015 Cayenne... but just how many of them, you ask? Two. Not two hundred, not two thousand, but two: one Cayenne Diesel and one Cayenne S, manufactured between November 26 and... November 27, 2014. That very well might make this the most methodically German recall in the history of recalls. If you happen to be the owner of one of those two vehicles, expect to hear from Porsche with instructions to bring your Cayenne in to have the suspension re-aligned and the screws tightened. RECALL Subject : Front and Rear Alignment may be Incorrect Report Receipt Date: DEC 29, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V824000 Component(s): SUSPENSION Potential Number of Units Affected: 2 Manufacturer: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. SUMMARY: Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (Porsche) is recalling certain model year 2015 Cayenne Diesel and Cayenne S vehicles manufactured November 26, 2014, to November 27, 2014. Due to a manufacturing error, the suspension alignment on the front and rear axles may not have been performed correctly and the screw connections of the camber, toe and caster may not have been tightened with the specified torque. CONSEQUENCE: If the suspension alignment was incorrectly performed, vehicle handling could be reduced, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: Porsche will notify owners, and dealers will perform a front and rear suspension alignment, and check the screw connections for the proper torque, retightening as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification date. Owners may contact Porsche customer service at 1-800-767-7243. Porsche's number for this recall is AF04. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Autoblog editors choose their favorite racecars of all time
Thu, Feb 26 2015If you like cars, there is a good chance that you like racecars. There's something about the science and the art of going faster, of competition, of achievement, that accelerates the hearts of enthusiasts. It doesn't matter the series, the team or the manufacturer – there's something about racing that stirs emotions and lifts spirits. It's that way with many of you, and it's that way with our editors. With that in mind, we offer a list of our favorite racecars of all time. Of course, we'd like to hear some of yours in the comment section below. 1970 Porsche 917 Compared to some of the obscure choices by my colleagues, I feel like the Porsche 917 is almost so obvious a pick as to not be worth mentioning. Still, when coming up with my answer, my mind invariably went back to this classic racer – specifically in its blue-and-orange Gulf livery – while watching Le Mans on DVD and later Blu Ray with my dad. Long, low and curvaceous, few vehicles have ever looked sexier lapping a track than the 917. More than just a pretty face, this beauty had speed, too, thanks to several tunes of flat-12 engines over the course of its racing life. In the early '70s, Porsche was a dominant force throughout sports-car competition, and the 917 (shown above at the 1970 24 Hours of Daytona) was the tip of that spear, including back-to-back victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Largely without dialogue or really much of a traditional plot, Le Mans is like a tone poem of racing goodness. While the 917's importance to motorsports history is undoubtedly fascinating, it's still this cinematic depiction of the Porsche racer that draws me in most, especially with the volume cranked. – Chris Bruce Associate Editor 1964 Mini Cooper S How could everyone not be selecting the 1964 Mini Cooper S piloted by Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon? That car, 33 EJB, took the first of British Motor Corporation's four Monte Carlo Rally wins (it should have been five, but French judges got the British Minis [and Fords] disqualified on a technicality regarding headlights... which its own car, the winning DS, was also in violation of). The tiny red car and its white roof beat out Ford Falcons, Mercedes-Benz 300SEs and scores of Volvos, Volkswagens and Saabs. This, along with the several years of dominance that followed, cemented the idea that not only could the tiny, two-tone Mini be a real performance vehicle, but that family-friendly city cars in general could be fun.
