2001 Boxster Convertable
101k miles Seal Gray/Black top/Black leather interior Tiptronic transmission Located in Pineville, LA My dream car. . . I bought it 2 years ago from my best friend. Recently serviced; tires have less than 3,000 miles Everything works. EXTERIOR: A few minor dings from parking lot, nothing that a paintless dent removal facility could not address. Actually, the color hides these imperfections very well, and they are very minor. You would have to get very close to the car to see where a door has been opened on it. Also there is a minor scrape on the passenger front fender right on the lip. It looks like a shopping cart may have rubbed up against it. You have to get close to the car to see it. The damage is only to the paint, and did not penetrate the base coat. The clear coat is peeling off of the driver's rear view mirror. This is the only place on the car that the clear coat is failing. Don't know why its doing this, but its there. Paint is in overall excellent condition. I would rate the exterior a solid 8 or 8.5. I believe that the previous owner had the nose re-sprayed at some point. There are very few imperfections up front. INTERIOR: CD player and all internal controls function as intended. The AC works great. The roof and headliner are in very good condition and function properly. Both trunks are clean and all tools are present. The seats have minimal wear and there are no rips or tears. The dash shows as new. It does have the mysterious foam blowing through the vent issue occasionally. This does not affect any function of the vehicle, but if you are familiar with the 996/986 era, then you know what I am talking about. I would rate the interior a solid 8.5 or 9. SERVICE: Car has always been serviced in a timely fashion and any issues are promptly addressed. The car is spot on, and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. I have records from my ownership, but very little from ownership prior to mine. I bought the car from my best friend in 2012 when it had 98k miles and only put 4k miles on it. The only repairs that I accomplished was replacing the infamous RMS. I am willing to take specific pictures and answer any questions asked by seriously interested parties. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks for looking. |

Can a Corvette really be compared to a 911 with options costing more than the Chevy?
Wed, 29 Jan 2014In this latest video from Drive, Chris Harris asks straight away, "Can you still compare a base Corvette to a Porsche Carerra?" That's an particularly interesting question in this film, as the 911 in question is a 400-horsepower Carrera S model that's been fitted with $60,000 in options. Base price of a Corvette Stingray? $51,995. Harris' tester features an automatic and some other goodies that push it right up to that $60,000 range. So yes, the options on the Porsche cost as much as this entire 460-hp Chevrolet.
Harris stresses that this isn't a full review, but he does exercise both cars in a more composed manner before reverting to his traditionally exuberant driving style. The impressions are, as always, spot on, with Harris favoring the pointy nature and V8 power of the Stingray, while enjoying the gearbox (Porsche's exceptional PDK transmission) and just about everything else on the 911.
Take a look below for the latest video from Drive, and let us know if you agree with Mr. Harris' views on these two sports cars.
Porsche-Piech buy 10% stake in VW's holding company
Tue, 18 Jun 2013In August, 2009, as the scuttled merger of Porsche and Volkswagen had gone bad and Porsche was backed up against the ropes, Porsche Automobil Holding SE (PAHSE) relinquished a ten-percent stake in itself to Qatar Holdings as well as options it held on 17 percent of VW shares. The sale meant that, for the first time since the founding of the company 61 years before, an entity outside the Porsche and Piech families had a say in the running of PAHSE.
Buying that ten-percent stake back returns full ownership to the two families, the holding company's sole possession being ownership of 50.7 percent of VW's common shares. The price paid wasn't disclosed, but at market rates the purchase would be worth close to $1.25 billion. Qatar intends to hold onto the 17-percent stake it has in Volkswagen.
Techart modified Porsche 911 Turbo S packs 620 hp, 0-62 in 2.8 seconds
Wed, 05 Mar 2014Considering how many absolutely ridiculous tuner cars are featured in Geneva (stay tuned to see plenty, as our coverage continues), it's often refreshing to see some of the more modestly modified cars, like this new Porsche 911 Turbo S from the folks at Techart. Visually, there's a subtle body kit, new wheels, a new spoiler, and some lame decals on the front end, but it basically ends there. That's because Techart's mission is really about higher performance. Increased dynamism, as the Germans say.
An ordinary 911 Turbo S produces 560 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. But the Techart kit adds 60 hp and 96 lb-ft to those already high numbers, for a coupe that dishes out a total of 620 hp and 612 lb-ft. Techart says that, in Sport Plus mode, its modified 911 Turbo S will accelerate to 62 miles per hour in just 2.8 seconds, and the top speed has been increased to 204 miles per hour. Crazy stuff.
To further drive its performance upgrades home, Techart has fitted this 911 Turbo S with a sport exhaust system with valve control, for a more robust exit interview, at the push of a button. We imagine it sounds awesome. Have a look at the Techart Turbo S in the gallery, above.
