2000 Porsche Boxster fixer upper with a low reserve!
89,000 miles
Tiptronic transmission
Silver with New Blue convertible top
I have my 2000 Porsche Boxster for sale that needs some work and I am no longer in a financial position to fix her. This would be a great project for someone that has the know how about these cars. Recently the car has started to make a loud noise from the rear of the vehicle when the car is decelerating only. As soon as you give any gas the noise goes away. It was brought to our Family mechanic and after putting it on the rack he said it was nothing related to the motor but was possibly an issue with the transmission or rear end of the vehicle and he would not know for sure until it was taken apart. Unfortunately I can not afford to put any money into the car at this time and have decided I will have to sell it and buy another cheaper vehicle. The car DOES run and drive!
Besides the mechanical issues their are a few other small issues
1) Stereo does not turn on, I am going to assume it is a fuse as it worked one day and not the next.
2) the passenger side window regulator is either broken of the window is off the track. You can hear the motor working but the window does not move.
3) the automatic gear shift knob button is missing. This is how I got the car and never worried about it
4) The passenger side seat has a tear on the top bolster (as seen in the pictures)
5) as a very known boxster problem the plastic interior pieces have the factory paint scratched off of it in areas. I was in the process of having this fixed before the mechanical issue arose but have since stopped. This is a very easy fix by repainting or covering with carbon fiber overlays.
6) the front and rear bumper on the vehicle would need to be repainted to be perfect. There is some rock chips and missing paint in a few areas on the front. The back is in much better shape but i was going to have repainted at the same time as the rest of the body is flawless without a dent on it!
Good items on the vehicle!
1) the mechanic said the motor was very strong and had no issues
2) the AC blows ICE cold
3) Their was a new convertible top put on within the past year and works flawlessly
4) Tires have plenty of tread left and would not need to be replaced for a while
5) besides the bumpers the body is in excellent condition!
I have the title in hand and am a motivated seller. The reserve is set at half of the book value of the vehicle in fair condition! Buy it now, fix it and still have time to enjoy a great convertible for the summer!

Meet the man that discovered and restored the oldest existing Porsche
Tue, 11 Mar 2014Luciano Rupolo is an absolutely fascinating gentleman. He was born in France but spent nearly his entire life in Italy as an auto mechanic running his own shop. His grandfather and father instilled a love of sports cars in him that he carried on by historic racing in Italy for decades. He saw his life-long automotive passion repaid when he found and restored the car that might have been the first Porsche registered for the road.
You can spot in his garage a split-window Corvette, Ferrari 250 GTE and other exotics, but Rupolo's most interesting automotive story concerns his Iso Grifo Competizione (pictured above). The sports coupe was found in the Canary Islands as little more than a shell, but Rupolo got help from a prestigious source for its restoration. The result is a motoring masterpiece.
Rupolo is a fantastic storyteller with a captivating, tale to tell. Settle in, scroll down and watch the bittersweet documentary about his life with one of the first Porsches.
Porsche working on turbo V12 for Putin limo project?
Fri, 24 Oct 2014Porsche is best known for building very well-regarded sports cars and better-selling utility vehicles. Come to the company with a big enough bag of cash, though, and the Porsche Engineering division can create just about anything. The group's past projects include working with Harley-Davidson, Mercedes-Benz and corporate cousin Audi, but if rumors prove true, then its latest partner might be the last one you'd expect.
Russian website Wroom reports that Porsche Engineering is building the engine for the Project Cortege government limousine project for Russian president Vladimir Putin. The mill is supposedly a turbocharged V12 displacing between 6.0- and 6.6-liters and making around 800 horsepower. When complete, it will reportedly be built by ZMZ with Russian-sourced parts.
The limo is expected to debut in 2017, according to Wroom, but it's just the beginning of Putin's grandiose plans, which also goes by the name of the Motorcade Project. The same platform is also meant to underpin several vehicles for use by the government, including an SUV, a small bus and a sedan. All of them would reportedly have a longitudinally mounted engine and all-wheel drive.
Roger Rodas' Widow Suing Porsche Over Carrera GT Crash
Tue, May 13 2014Investigations undertaken by local law enforcement may have vindicated Porsche from any wrongdoing in the crash that killed actor Paul Walker and racing driver Roger Rodas last year, but the latter's widow is apparently not convinced. According to emerging reports, Kristine Rodas has filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages from Porsche Cars North America. In her suit filed with the Los Angeles Superior Court, Rodas' attorney Mark Geragos reportedly disputes the findings of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which asserted that the vehicle was traveling at an unsafe speed of 90 miles per hour on city streets, identifying the speed as the cause of the accident. Instead the lawsuit claims that the vehicle was only going 55 mph and that the cause of the crash was improper equipment – namely a faulty right rear suspension and the lack of a crash cage and proper fuel tank. "The Carrera GT was unsafe for its intended use by reason of defects in its manufacture, design, testing, component and constituents, so that it would not safely serve its purpose," according to the specifics of the suit obtained by the Los Angeles Times. When reached for comment, Porsche Cars North America spokesman Nick Twork told Autoblog: We are very sorry for the Rodas and Walker family's loss. The crash was the subject of a detailed investigation by the proper authorities (L.A. County Sheriff and California Highway Patrol), and their investigation disproves the allegations in the lawsuit. The investigation found that driving at a high speed in a negligent manner caused the crash and concluded that there was no mechanical defect. The Carrera GT is known as a difficult car to drive. As the LA Times report points out, Jay Leno spun one at Talladega in 2005, and the following year, Porsche paid part of a multi-million-dollar settlement after two were killed on a track when their Carrera GT struck a slower-moving Ferrari. The Rodas lawsuit could very well point to that previous suit from San Diego Superior Court. Whether the court in LA will hand down a similar ruling remains to be seen.
