1998 Porsche Boxster 85k Miles. 5 Spd Manual Good Top W/maint Records on 2040-cars
Alexandria, Virginia, United States
1998 Porsche Boxster 85,324 Miles 5spd Manual transmission Vehicle Condition: This Porsche runs and drives great. Shifts smoothly through all the gears with NO grinding or noise. The clutch feels strong. The engine starts right up and does NOT smoke or leak. Tracks straight with no noise in the suspension. A/C blows cold air, power windows operate smoothly and are not "slow" like many cars this age. The power top operates smoothly as well. The top is in "good" shape with no tears or rips, but does show some age. The rear plastic window is in reasonable shape with no cracks and is not super cloudy or faded like some Boxsters get. The leather seats do show some wear and the drivers seat is cracked on the bottom cushion. The interior over all is fine, but does show some fading and wear and tear. The radio face plate is missing, but I do have the radio code card. The airbag light is on, but all other warning lights are off. The car appears to be well maintained and can be driven as is where ever the buyer likes. Everything functions as it should. Accident Damage: This car has a salvage Alabama title. The car was in a fairly minor accident recently. You can see the damage in the pictures. There are some dents to the driver's rear quarter panel, driver's door, and driver's front fender. These are superficial and easily repaired by any body shop and do not effect how the car runs or drives. Additionally there is some damage to the front the rear bumpers which are also easily repaired. There are a few small pieces of trim that are missing such as the front corner reflector and the drivers taillight lens is broken, but aside from these small things the car is complete and perfectly drivable as is. The car did not sustain any suspension or frame damage in the accident. Maintenance: The car appears to have been very well maintained by Eurasian Auto Service Inc. of Birmingham AL. with more than $3500 spent on routine maintenance since 2007. Maintenance items include brakes, filters, seals, MAF sensor, wheel bearing, and front motor mount. I will provide all receipts to the buyer. Terms: The car is sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. The car is located in Alexandria, VA and has a salvage Alabama title. The buyer will receive the title and bill of Sale. A $500 deposit will be due within 24 hours of the end of the auction via Paypal with the remainder due within one week. Buyer is to arrange vehicle transport. |

Magnus Walker turbocharges his love for the Porsche 911
Thu, 31 Oct 2013He's had his fill of early, long-hood Porsche 911s - he owns at least one from each model year, from 1964 to 1973 - so Magnus Walker, a fanatic of the Stuttgart, Germany-based automaker, recently set his sights on the early Porsche 930, as documented by this XCAR video called 'Turbo Fever.' Let us translate: pretty soon Walker will own all of the earliest, non-intercooled 911 Turbos - at least one from each model year, starting at 1975 and ending at 1977 (though the 1975 911 Turbo Carrera never officially was imported to the US by Porsche, so it'll be tougher to find one Stateside).
Any Porsche enthusiast can tell you why they love their car, and it often comes down to the small details that differentiate one model year from another. One of many examples is the mid-'80s 928. They look similar, but the basic difference between a 1984 Porsche 928 S and a 1985 928 S (US-spec) is two camshafts and 54 horsepower, though each car's V8 has its own pros and cons. We'll let Magnus Walker tell you all about the 930 and what makes the first three years special, as he's becoming quite the expert on early, air-cooled 911s. When the nearly 15-minute mini-documentary was filmed, which you can view below, he already had added four early 930s to his collection!
McLaren rules out Porsche Cayman competitor
Mon, Nov 30 2015McLaren has gone downmarket with the introduction of its new Sports Series, but don't expect it to go any lower than that. So while the 570S goes up against the Audi R8 and Porsche 911 Turbo, the likes of the TT and Cayman can rest easy. Speaking with Autocar, McLaren designer Robert Melville ruled out the prospect of developing a sports car positioned lower than the Sports Series. Melville dismissed the idea of a Cayman rival from Woking as "a step too far" and "not exclusive enough" for McLaren. "You look at Ferrari. They are coming from very high end. [The 570S] is stretching us down to R8s and 911s and is as low as we'd want to come." The limit may be dictated, more than anything, by the building blocks. The newly introduced Sports Series adopts the same essential hard points as the higher-end Super Series (650S) and Ultimate Series (P1). Like its more expensive siblings, it features a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and bolted to the back of a carbon monocoque chassis. Only instead of selling for $265k like the 650S or over $1 million like the P1, the 570S will retail for under $190k. Volume is how the manufacturer aims to make up the difference. In fact McLaren stands to generate as much revenue (if not necessarily the same profit margin) selling 2,500 units in the Sports Series each year as it has producing all 375 examples of the P1. Making those same building blocks available at a lower price point – or developing an entirely new set – would be an entirely different proposition... one which McLaren is evidently less than keen to undertake. So while we can look forward to new versions of the Sports Series to follow – including Spider and GT variants soon to follow – more commonplace stablemate appears to be off the table. Porsche already considering even more hardcore Cayman GT4 RS?
Fri, Mar 6 2015We're not sure what kind of person would look at the new Porsche Cayman GT4 and say "that's not enough," but we're sure they're out there. And to satisfy just such a customer, Porsche could very well offer a GT4 RS version in the future. "This is just the beginning of the era. I would be interested in doing a Cayman GT4 RS version, but at the moment we didn't even talk about such a thing. If the customers call for something like this we could think about it." These are the words of Andreas Preuninger, speaking with Evo at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show this week. As head of Porsche's GT line, Preuninger and his team are responsible for creating hardcore track models like the 911 GT3, the new 911 GT3 RS and – for the first time – the new Cayman GT4. Clearly buoyed by the early success of the GT4, Prenuninger is already looking towards the next step. Considering that the existing model already packs a 3.8-liter flat six with 385 horsepower and the manual transmissions so many GT3 fans miss, we're not sure how much more they could get out of the Cayman – but we'll sure enjoy watching them try.
