RARE Colored 1993 Porsche 968 Cabriolet WP0CA2964PS840178 This is a rare Porsche 968. I want to pass my Porsche 968 along with my passion onto the next enthusiast. These cars are meant to be driven and for others to enjoy! It’s fast and fun! I’ve been slowly and steadily restoring it. Read on and see what has been done to this 20 plus year old car. It not perfect yet, but it’s a great start. The car is being sold as is. 81,000 miles…metallic green color with a black interior. 3.0L VarioCam engine with a 4-speed Tiptronic transmission. The 968's engine was the second-largest 4-cylinder ever offered in a production car up to that time. Previously owned by a family in Ft. Lauderdale, this Porsche 968 was part of the settlement. It had been in storage for a couple years when I purchased it. I had it professionally detailed. This is currently my daily driver. It not perfect yet, but it’s a great start. It’s being sold at a very reasonable price. If I had it painted it would be up there with the other Porsche convertibles in price. ENGINE AND DRIVE LINE… The car has had major engine service preformed including the timing belt, water pump, and front engine oil seals along with new belt rollers, ($1500.00). Transmission service including the flex plate was performed (auto damper $ 1800.00). AC conversion to new style 134 blows nice and cold. Heater works, as it should as well. This car runs and drives great as a Porsche should…smooth, fast and nimble. The oil and other fluids have recently been changed. I removed the old tires off the front and change them with new 17 inch Kumho ECSTA tires. An aftermarket convertible top was installed in addition to doing some work with the frame. The top opens and closed manually. I recently purchase the locking handles, which are included with the car, INTERIOR… The interior is in pretty good shape, however with most cars more than 20 years old the seats will need to be recovered due to regular wear and tear. The original radio was replaced with an upgraded Alpine unit
with blue tooth. The car has beautiful black rugs and perfect door panels. The rear seats with storage options were added. BODY… The over all body is in excellent shape and pretty much ready for paint. There is a small dent on the lower left side right behind the left side door. The hood has a small dent on the upper left hand corner. A little bit of bodywork will remedy that. And the hood and trunk are showing clear coat peeling. I was planning to repaint the entire car. All lights are fully functional and working. Fun facts… This car is very rare. For those of you not familiar with the Porsche 968 it was an automobile sold by Porsche AG of Germany from 1991 to 1995, and marketed as the replacement for the Porsche 944. When production ceased in the 1995 model year, it represented the end of the line started almost 20 years earlier with the introduction of the Porsche 924. There were only a limited amount of Porsche 968's built and shipped to the states. Approximately 2000 coupes and 2000 cabriolets were imported to the United States between 1991 and 995.This color combination is very rare. Combined with the Tiptronic transmission...maybe 10 in total were manufactured. If you have any questions or want to see the car I can be reached at 561 414- 8477. Only serious buyers please! |

Porsche 911 GT3 RS facing delay over GT3 fire problems?
Mon, 24 Mar 2014Porsche has never been afraid to introduce variants of its cars. However, its even higher spec, next-generation 911 GT3 RS may be delayed from its planned launch this summer while the engines in the standard GT3s (pictured above) are replaced.
A delay isn't certain, but executives want to make sure the high-strung mill is no longer a problem before they press forward with another model using it. Germany's Auto Motor und Sport asked Porsche CEO Matthias Müller about pushing back the launch, and he responded that it was too early to say. The company's current focus is making sure the engines get fixed and working on internal measures to prevent this kind of flaw in the future.
When fires claimed two 911 GT3s in Europe, Porsche initially stopped the model's sales and asked owners to stop driving them. It finally diagnosed the blazes as being caused by a loose screw on a connecting rod, which then resulted in crankcase damage and an oil leak. The company is replacing the engines on all 785 affected cars. A source told Autoblog that under 200 customers were actually affected, and the other cars were either at port or dealer lots. Hopefully, the recall doesn't postpone the road-going GT3 RS too far because we want to see what Porsche has up its sleeve.
Luftgekuhlt is an incredible car show for air-cooled Porsches
Thu, Apr 21 2016Air-cooled Porsches: Three lousy words and four lousy syllables. String them together and you get an expensive, emotive cocktail. If you've always wanted to own one, you know that truth, as prices of vintage 356s, 911s, and even 914s have risen steadily and then recently, skyrocketed. That change in the economics of cars once considered workhorses has altered the zeitgeist around what Porsche means to different generations of fans. Back in the day, Porsche didn't strive to be as expensive or as untouchable as Ferrari's metal. As a result, you typically find Porsche owners able — and willing — to twist wrenches on their machines. For one thing, air-cooled cars from Zuffenhausen were relatively easy to maintain and drive in all four seasons. They weren't show ponies. But when cars become collectibles, the scene around them changes, and Porsche FIA World Endurance Championship racer Patrick Long and his longtime pal, designer Howie Idelson, were, as Long put it, sick of meets "at golf courses where you have to worry if your shoes match your pants." Long mixes fine in that world. He's the only American on Porsche's factory team and he's won in everything from ALMS to GT to Baja. That tends to put your loafers at plenty of tony cocktail parties. But Long and Idelson, both SoCal natives who met as kids racing karts, wanted to make something of the air-cooled Porsche car culture, not of the collecting culture. Hence the birth, less than three years ago, of Luftgeku hlt. "It's literally 'air-cooled' in German but has that nerdish, Instagram picture-trading offshoot of a kind of Porsche cult," Long says, noting he's less interested in defining the brand that now sells t-shirts and posters and more interested in keeping things loose. View 63 Photos "We had cars with original paint from guys who work their hands 'til they're bloody and we had 200 of the most collectible cars." As such, he was still floored by the recently convened Luftgekuhlt 3, the third party he and Idelson have put on and by far the largest. It was held in the shadow of the L.A. skyline at the headquarters of Modernica furniture. More than 400 air-cooled Porsches and their owners convened. The location was no afterthought. "We wanted people to come for the cars and then be blown away by the venue: It has to be interesting. It has to attract different kinds of people." To spur that, Long doesn't adhere to the strict fealty of precision that's a default at most collector rallies.
Porsche considering turbo for new GT3 RS [w/poll]
Tue, 03 Jun 2014Some automakers make one hardcore version of a sports car and are done with it. Or at least they make one at a time. Think Ferrari 458 Speciale, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera (or Super Trofeo Stradale or Squadra Corse) or Maserati GranTurismo MC. But not Porsche. It transforms the 911 into the hard-core GT3, the even harder-core GT3 RS, the you've-got-to-be-psychotic GT2 and the do-you-have-a-death-wish GT2 RS. The RS models take things to a further extreme, but what separates GT3 from GT2 models has traditionally been the use of foced induction: GT3s are naturally aspirated, while GT2s go turbo. But that could all be about to change.
According to the rumors making their round of the webosphere, Porsche is considering using a turbocharged engine for the next GT3 RS. The reason is that, as we all know, Porsche has already pushed the 3.8-liter flat-six in the existing GT3 about as far as it can go, and then some. And buyers expect not only a more bare-bones package with the GT3 RS, but also a bit of extra power.
Given that everything seems to be going turbo these days, the move might make some measure of sense, especially if Porsche wants to avoid with the GT3 RS the spontaneous combustion issues it faced with the GT3. But we can't help but wonder why, at that point, it wouldn't just skip the GT3 RS and go straight for the GT2.
