1991 Porsche 944 S2 Convertible 2-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Olathe, Kansas, United States
Up for sale is a 1991 944 S2 cabriolet. 1991 was the final year for the 944 before the launch of the 968, and this one of only 562 for the US market in 1991. Total US production for 90-91 was less than 2,400. I have enjoyed owning this car for 5 years, as was my daily driver until I started working from home last year. Car has been well kept, runs and drives great. The car is equipped with power windows, locks, and top, plus cruise control. All power options, a/c & heat work, and I added an Alpine AM/FM CD player with Bluetooth. The paint is in good shape with a few small chips. Prior to my ownership some paint work was done behind the passenger door and there are some very small rust bubbles. Would be very easy to sand and paint (see picture for detail). Top is an aftermarket replacement of unknown age, and has visible wear, but rear window is clear. The interior is in okay condition. Dash is in great shape (see picture) but passenger seat has a seam separation across the bottom. Air bags have been removed, but will be included with the sale. Car comes with original top boot, tool kit, air compressor & all books with factory pouch. Upgrades and maintenance:
There is a recent problem with the car. It has begun to use coolant. No visible smoking, but I have to assume its a problem with the head gasket. As I mentioned, the car runs and drives great, pulls strongly through the rev range with no problems, but I do not know the cause of the issue. This is a great commuter car, fun in the summer, and great for autocross events. Would a great candiate for an LS swap if you wanted more power. Thank you for your consideration, and please contact me with any questions at 913-486-2006. There is a deposit of $500, payable only via PayPal. Deposit is required within 48hrs of auction close. Final payment and delivery/shipping arrangements made at the completion of this sale. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the car for sale locally. |

Porsche Macan caught completely uncovered
Wed, 31 Jul 2013Porsche is preparing to launch its sub-Cayenne CUV, with a suspected debut at the 2013 Los Angeles International Auto Show, which means we're right about at the point where undisguised models start scampering around the cities and towns of Germany. Our spy photographers snagged just such a model, with only the headlights and taillights concealed by camouflage (no, those comically large lamps aren't a production item).
The undisguised car looks like a tiny Cayenne. Not really surprising, we know, but it's impressive to see how the Cayenne's styling works with the smaller proportions of the Macan. It looks squat, athletic and poised, like it's a small, "sporty" crossover we'd actually want to drive. Both the Macan and the Macan Turbo are shown, with the more powerful model sporting a set of quad exhausts.
The only big questions now concern the shape of the lights and the interior. From the photos, we can see a rough outline of the headlights, although the taillights are more difficult to discern. The interior remains a mystery.
Porsche 911 GT3 RS spec sheet leaked, promises 500 hp
Mon, Feb 23 2015Axis of Oversteer has three pages of what's purported to be the spec sheet for the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and it's got a few bolded items noting key differences with the already spectacular 911 GT3. Prime among them is its output, pegged at exactly 500 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque, which looks at first blush to be a minor bump: just 25 hp and 14 lb-ft over the GT3, and the redline drops 200 rpm to 8,800 rpm. If the document is accurate, though, there will be a hefty dose of weight loss to make the most of it. The bodyshell and doors are aluminum, carbon fiber reinforced plastic is used for those vented front fenders (the vanes are plastic), the front trunklid, the rear engine cover, and the rear wing, while the roof is made of magnesium and the side windows are polycarbonate. The bucket seats, door entry guards, and other interior trim pieces are also fashioned from CFRP, and it gets lightweight door panels with pull-loops. Elsewhere around the coupe, the body grows wider by 50 millimeters in front and 30 mm in back over a track that's 36 mm wider. There's a pit-lane speed limiter for track days, tinted taillights, an optional Clubsport package with a six-point seatbelt, and GT3 RS logos everywhere. It's looking more and more like this car was developed to define the word "epic." Porsche completes production of 918 Spyder
Fri, Jun 19 2015Porsche is closing another chapter in its history as production of the 918 Spyder has officially come to an end. The only remaining question is: what comes next? The 918 was the latest in a long line of flagship supercars from the German automaker, starting with the 904 Carrera GTS, continuing on through the 959, 911 GT1, and Carrera GT. Each was a technological game-changer for Porsche, just as the 918 Spyder will surely be remembered. With the hybrid roadster now zipping off into the annals of history, all eyes will be fixed on Zuffenhausen to see what it does next. And though it may not be much to go on, we've already begun seeing some hints at what that could be. Last week Porsche released a solitary teaser image showing its next-generation sports car, covered and parked alongside the Le Mans-winning 919 Hybrid LMP1. Just what's under the cover, Porsche isn't saying, and didn't respond to our repeated inquiries for comment. However the signs point towards a mid-engined supercar – not unlikely to pack a hybrid powertain once again – positioned closer to the likes of McLaren 650S and Ferrari 488 GTB than the outgoing 918 Spyder, which faced off against the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari. If that turns out to be the direction Porsche takes with its upcoming new supercar, as has long been anticipated, it would hardly be unprovoked. McLaren recently launched the 570S as part of its new Sport Series to take on the Porsche 911 Turbo, and Ferrari is once again rumored to be pursuing the same with a new Dino. While the specifics may remain cloudy for the time being, what is crystal clear is that things are about to get very interesting in the battle between Porsche and its rivals. Today, the chequered flag marked the finish: after 21 months of production time, the final Porsche 918 Spyder came off the line in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen according to schedule. But the legacy of this technology pioneer will reach far beyond its production time. Future generations of sports cars will benefit directly from innovations of the 918 Spyder. The 918 Spyder was systematically developed to be a performance hybrid with plug-in technology. The hybrid super sports concept car made its debut at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show where it met with overwhelming approval.
