1989 Porsche 944 Turbo S Spec 951 on 2040-cars
Methuen, Massachusetts, United States
I am listing my 1989 Porsche 944 turbo which I bought with the intentions on restoring, but haven't gotten around to it. This car is being sold as a parts or restore vehicle which is exactly how it was described when I purchased it. The car's clutch pedal was collapsed so I replaced the master and slave cylinders and now there is a clicking in the clutch. I think it will need a throw out bearing but I'm not %100 sure anyhow a used but good condition complete clutch will be included with the car which I removed from my other 944 turbo. I also replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter and cleaned the injectors about 4 months ago due to a no start condition. Car now starts and idles perfect even after not being started for more than a few months in the dead of winter. No smoking issues front or rear of this vehicle. This car does have the s spec turbo,10 speaker sound system, big s brakes, koni coilover suspension, im almost 100% sure it has the LSD transaxle. Please message any questions. Car is pretty much stock. Unmolested with no modifications from what I have seen aside from an alarm and some sound system cables. |

Porsche CEO Oliver Blume will be installed as head of the VW brand
Wed, Jun 3 2020Volkswagen Chief Executive Herbert Diess is planning to promote Porsche CEO Oliver Blume to take over as the head of the VW brand, according to a report from Auto Motor und Sport. Citing company sources, the German site said Bernhard Maier, who currently sits at the head of VW's Skoda brand, will lead Porsche in Blume's place. A shuffle at VW isn't surprising. The last thing Volkswagen needs as it transitions away from its long-running "clean diesel" TDI fiasco and into a clean electric ID future is negative press surrounding its burgeoning electrified lineup. Unfortunately, the ID.3 launch has been marred by software issues, with Manager magazine citing company engineers saying "the basic architecture was developed too hastily." Because of that underlying issue, various modules "often do not understand each other" and suffer dropouts. The brand-new eighth-generation Golf launch was also troubled and pushed back due to software problems. And more recently, Volkswagen was forced to pull an advertisement after admitting it was racist and insulting. That marketing misstep, according to the report, will lead to the firing of Chief Marketing Officer Jochen Sengpiehl. Related Video:
2014 Porsche 911 GT3 [w/video]
Thu, 01 Aug 2013The Bearable Lightness Of Being
Start with a standard Porsche 911 Carrera and its 350-horsepower, 3.6-liter flat six-cylinder engine. Bore a crepe-thin slice of aluminum from each cylinder to get to 3.8 liters, add a wider track out back and two extra exhaust pipes and voila, you can append an S to the Carrera's name. Hang two sets of wet, multi-disc clutches along its spine and you can make that a 4, or a 4S. Bolt on two forced-induction compressors and piping, add two fender vents and comically wide rear tires and you've redeemed your ticket to a Turbo. Increase the boost pressure and swell the corral to 560 horses and you have the Turbo S, which is the Virginia Slims of the 911 line-up because it's come a long way, baby.
Or you can go in a different direction. At that second stop, grab the 3.8-liter and cart it over to the engineers at Porsche's development center in Weissach, Germany. If racing were meat, they would be among the alpha carnivores. The baseboards in their homes are probably painted with miniature billboards for motor oil and vintage cigarettes along the straights, red-and-white stripes around every corner.
