1987 Porsche 944 S Coupe 2-door 2.5l on 2040-cars
Clifton Park, New York, United States
For
sale is my 1987 Porsche 944S with 120k and a 5 speed manual transmission. At 114k replaced the timing chain tensioner
along with the timing belt, balance shaft belt, water pump, thermostat and all
associated front-end gaskets. Also put in a K&N panel filter at this time
and put on new A/C and power steering belts. Around this time also replaced
both knock sensors because the plastic had deteriorated with age. At 117k I put in new Clutch, pressure plate,
resurfaced flywheel, seals/bearings and slave cylinder. I also replaced the
rear-main seal at this time. The idle
air control valve has also been very recently replaced. About 1k miles ago
replaced the A/C compressor and receiver/drier and did a full system flush,
recharging with R134a. A/C now blows cold. Tires on the car are 225/50R15 Kumho
Ecsta AST with less than 3k on them. The
muffler on the vehicle is also in like-new condition. 8/10 The
body and exterior are in very good condition. There are no dents or damages to
the body. The paint is in good condition with some average signs of wear. Overall I would say 7.5/10. Interior
does show signs of age (crack in the driver side seat, dash cracks) but for the
most part is in good condition. I have also installed aluminum door sill trims.
All electrics on the car work including
the headlights and sunroof, the cruise control worked intermittently 7/10. The car is physically and mechanically sound and I would feel comfortable to jump in and take it across country. The car also comes with a sunroof cover and a bra. I love this car but my collection is getting too big and it needs to go. If there are any questions or you would like to see the vehicle please send me a message and we can make arrangements. I reserve the right to end the auction early, regardless of bid status. Sorry
for any blue spots in pictures, they are due to the camera on my phone. |

Porsche to only build next Panamera in Leipzig?
Sun, 06 Oct 2013Manufacture of the next-generation Porsche Panamera could be moving, if a report from Reuters is true. The current-generation Panamera range has its bodies welded together and painted at a Volkswagen facility in Hanover before being shipped to Leipzig where final assembly takes place.
According to Reuters, Porsche is looking to cut VW out of the equation and focus production of the Panamera in Leipzig. While this could cost 800 of the 14,300 workers at Hanover their jobs, it's not entirely clear what Porsche stands to gain by the move. It recently invested 50- million euros (about $680 million at today's rates) on a paint and body shop for its Leipzig factory, ostensibly so the facility could have Macan production underway by that car's spring 2014 on-sale date. If the facility was also designed with next-generation Panamera production in mind, then Porsche's decision to put all of its eggs in one basket could make a lot of sense. It currently ships the semi-completed Panameras from Hanover to Leipzig, a distance of around 160 miles by road, and presumably it's a costly and time-consuming process.
The Leipzig factory produced 27,000 Panameras last year, although it's unclear just what its production capacity really is. Besides the Panamera and the upcoming Macan, the factory also builds the Porsche Cayenne.
Porsche 918 Spyder debuts with new N"urburgring lap record [w/video]
Tue, 10 Sep 2013It's been a long time in the making, but Porsche has finally revealed the final production version of its long-awaited 918 Spyder here at the Frankfurt Motor Show. And yet that's not even the big news surrounding the hybrid hypercar.
No, the big news is that, while Porsche was preparing taking the wraps off the car here in Frankfurt, elsewhere in Germany a team was setting a blistering lap time at the Nürburgring. And not just any blistering lap time, but a new world record.
Porsche claims that, on the morning of September 4, a team of three drivers (including former rally champ Walter Röhrl and Porsche test drivers Timo Kluck and Marc Lieb) broke the Nordschleife lap record, Lieb finally setting the best time at 6:57 at an average of 111 miles per hour.
McLaren P1 squares off against Porsche 918 in Evo track battle
Fri, Nov 21 2014Evo's side-by-side comparison of the McLaren P1 against the Porsche 918 Spyder isn't the first time we've seen England and Germany's ultimate automotive weapons sized up together; last month, Autocar tested them over the standing mile, with a Ducati 1199 Superleggera playing the joker. Evo throws a few curves at its test, though, taking the supercars to Anglesey Circuit in Wales to see which will lay down the fastest lap time with scribe Jethro Bovington at the wheel. In case the numbers haven't yet been seared into your memory, while both are assisted by electric motors, the 3,069-pound, rear-wheel drive P1 gets on with 903 horsepower and 664 pound-feet from a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8. The 3,750-pound, all-wheel-drive 918 Spyder does its job with 795 hp and 575 lb-ft surging out of a naturally aspirated, 4.6-liter V8. We're not told know which circuit layout he uses for the test, but both cars comfortably eclipse the mark set by the fastest coupe Evo's driven around it so far, the Ferrari 458 Speciale. Then, in an epilogue occasioned by a tire change, one of the supercars comfortably eclipses its own time again, before Bovington declares one the master of the track and the other the ruler of the street. Enjoy finding out which is which in the video above.
