1985.5 Porsche 944 Red, Black Leather, 115,000 Miles, Sunroof, Automatic on 2040-cars
Urbanna, Virginia, United States
This very nice 1985 1/2 is original with the exception of one re-paint. It is factory optioned with sunroof, leather seats, 7 inch Fuchs on front, 8 inch Fuchs on rear and cruise control. This car runs and drives great. This is not a project. Really, no excuses, it is a great driving car to take anywhere. The only problems are the cruise control works when it wants, the rear hatch pins do not hold all of the time, the rear main seal leaks oil and the clock does not work. It has slept in a climate controlled garage for the last 21 years that I know of. I have most of the original documentation and the services are up to date including the timing belt and tensioner 300 miles ago. The tires have less than 1,000 miles on them. The seats have the original optional leather surfaces and are in very good condition. That means that the leather is not ripped or torn but has some color worn off of the side bolster from sliding in and out and a thin wear spot on the seat bottom. The original leather steering wheel has very little wear. The AC works great and the heater valves function properly. The dash is cracked. The red paint shows well however there are numerous nicks and dings and imperfections from driving the car including a walnut ding on the roof. The rock guard coating around the wheel openings is flaking off because the repaint was over the coating, see the pictures, it is not rust. The wheels are in very good condition with little to no curb rash. Recent services include new motor mounts, complete tune, oil change and timing belt. The original Blaupunkt was replaced with a Pioneer unit but I still have it.
You will truly enjoy this unmodified well kept Porsche. |

Porsche Classic launching branded motor oil for air-cooled boxer engines
Tue, 17 Jun 2014It's hard not to love the look of a classic Porsche. Whether it's the upside-down bathtub styling of the 356 or the gradual evolution of the 911, there is a little beauty in all of them. However, the older they get, the more that needs repaired to keep them on the road. Porsche Classic is helping out, though, by introducing its own brand of motor oil for the demands of the company's vintage, air-cooled engines.
Developed at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach, Germany, Porsche Classic Motoroil comes in two weights - 20W-50 for the 356, 914 and 911 models up to the 2.7-liter G-Model and 10W-60 for 3.0-liters-and-up engines through the 993-chassis 911. The company claims that the air-cooled engines have different heat demands than traditional, water-cooled units, and this oil is made to meet those requirements.
According to Porsche, modern, synthetic oils are sometimes too effective when it comes to old engines. They are fantastic at sopping up debris, but those deposits are often holding archaic seals together. Suddenly removing them can cause leaks. The new oil is specifically designed to work with the old-fashioned materials found in its classics. The company also knows that most owners aren't driving their vintage cars everyday. So this formulation is more alkaline that normal to neutralize acids that they build up and corrode components.
EVO "2012 Car of the Year: The Track Battles" is a sports car salmagundi
Sun, 25 Nov 2012EVO has come out with another gotta-watch-it video, throwing its 2012 Car of the Year contestants around the UK's 1.5-mile Blyton Park track. It's actually a 15-minute teaser for the full-length DVD detailing the magazine's Car of the Year selection, but the tease is worth every penny free second.
Tiff Needell and sports car racer Richard Meaden handle the wheel duties, the two driving five pairs of sports cars: Lotus Exige S vs. Porsche Boxster S, Morgan Three-Wheeler vs. Toyota GT86, BMW M135i vs. Porsche 911, Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series vs. Alpina B3 GT3, the marquee event pits the McLaren MP4-12C vs. the Pagani Huayra. After a head-to-head lap with commentary during drifts, Meaden takes each car out to set a representative lap time.
You'll find the verdicts, lots of tire smoke, and lines like "Anything you can do sideways I can do sideways" in the video below.
1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS takes center stage with Petrolicious
Wed, 04 Jun 2014Today, one of the most exciting track toys available is the Porsche 911 GT3. Its forbearer, though, was an altogether different beast that was every bit as exciting. Yes, we're talking about the old 911 Carrera RS that blessed the early 1970s. With a mere 1,580 cars built, meant specifically to satisfy the FIA's homologation requirements, the RS is one rare pre-Malaise era cars.
Complete with a 2.7-liter flat-six engine, this RS of Mark Haddawy is one of the earlier examples of the breed (later cars received a larger, 3.0-liter engine). Still, it can scamper to 60 miles per hour in a very respectable 5.6 seconds and will happily hit 150 mph in a straight line. Sporting Porsche's iconic duckbill rear spoiler, the equally iconic Fuchs wheels, as well as slew of options, as Haddawy points out, each of the nearly 1,600 RS models is its own unique iteration on the Porsche performance formula.
Take a look below for the latest video from the crew at Petrolicious.
