1984 Porsche 944, 2.5L, 5 speed, moon roof, cruise, AC, PW, 98350 miles. All major maintenance including timing and balance shaft belts and pulleys, water pump, thermostat, lower radiator hose, oil pan and oil cooler gaskets and seals, rod bearings, clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, clutch fork bearings, rotor, distributor, spark plugs and wires, motor mounts, radiator fan switch, rear caliper and brakes were completed over last winter.

Car runs, drives and looks good.  The interior is in really good shape with just a couple of minor cracks in the dash.  The body has been repainted by PO and has normal parking lot dings for its age and a cracked front air dam.  There is also a couple of small dents in roof near moon roof.  Moon roof needs left lift arm fixed but it does open and close and I have a parts car that has the parts to repair.  Rear wiper does not operate.  Engine idle is not smooth and is worse when the engine is cold but engine runs strong and revs up normally.  Also, when driving normal the car has a vibration/rattle that can be felt in shifter (sounds like a heat shield or exhaust pipe rattle) at around 3000 rpm.  When accelerating hard there is no vibration/rattle.  Tires all have good tread on them and one doesn't match.    AC blows cool but not cold.

We were told that by PO that we would be 3rd owner.

NOTE: Car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the ad if it sells.  Cash only.  Buyer responsible for pickup or shipping.  Car is being sold as is where is with no warranties.

Jaguar F-Type pitted against Porsche 911 Cabriolet by Tiff Needell

Wed, 24 Apr 2013

You knew it wouldn't take long and it looks like EVO is first onto YouTube with a battle between the 2014 Jaguar F-Type and the 2013 Porsche 911. Tiff Needell spends a few laps warming up the tires (read: drifting like mad) in each droptop before getting in a timed run to see who's champion and who's second best.
Before the bell rings, its the Porsche that's got everything to lose, the 50-year-old era-defining sportscar getting on with a 3.4-liter flat-six, 350 horsepower, a seven-speed manual and a 3,197-pound curb weight. Other sportscars, like the F-Type, continue to eye the 911 like a flag atop Everest that they plan to first touch, and then rip from its socket. The mid-trim Jaguar rolls into the contest with a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 with 380 hp, an eight-speed automatic with paddle shifters and a curb weight of 3,521 pounds.
The video below shows you what happens when you let all those numbers fight it out on the same stretch of curvy track. Check it out.

Audi and Porsche squabble over future product platforms

Tue, 22 Jul 2014

In the buildup to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, Audi delivered an amusing video that worked on the playful rivalry between the German brand and its favorite frenemy, Porsche. We called it sibling rivalry, and at the time, it may have been just that. But just like sibling rivalries, it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt, and that's just what seems to be about to happen in the formerly peaceful Volkswagen Group family.
A new report from Automobile calls out the growing animosity between Porsche, who is backed up by Bentley, and Audi, whose primary ally is Lamborghini. No blows have actually been thrown, although there is a fair amount of "he said, she said" going on.
As Porsche tells it, for example, the new global fullsize SUV architecture being developed by Audi isn't up to snuff, citing size and structure issues, as well as an inability to accommodate a wide variety of engines.

How Porsche got Patrick Dempsey into the driver's seat for Le Mans

Tue, 27 Aug 2013

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, practice, practice. Ask Patrick Dempsey and he'll likely tell you the same secret for landing a role on a hit TV show or, for that matter, driving a Porsche in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
That's because, like McQueen and Newman, Dempsey has earned his place in that rarified field of actors who also race. He's competed in Baja and Grand-Am, co-owns an IndyCar team, and this year returned to Le Mans where he and his teammates Joe Foster and Patrick Long finished fourth in the GTE-Am class behind the wheel of their Porsche 911 RSR.
It's a grueling race, and the fluid transition between drivers behind the wheel is a key element to success. Check out the satirical video below to see how Dempsey and company got ready.
