1984 PORSCHE 944

Salvage Title in hand
5 spd
Just passed smog , registered until Dec , and if transfered in California before end of Oct , then you will avoid having to have it smogged for 2 years ( smog good for 90 days )
I am offering this car at a no reserve !!!
I purchased it a few months back and it was a vehicle that didn't run for a while , I DROVE it to Performance Porsche of San Diego where it was worked on for a while addressing all issues including rebuilding the A.C. with new fan ,speedo / odometer fixed , had new tires installed and have less than 1,000 miles on them ! All the lights work , the sunroof works , the doors , windows , and body are dent free and the paint is not good on the hood and topside , the car starts right up and purrs and doesn't burn a drop of oil /. The compression was great although it does run lean the owner said .I drove this car up the coast after paying them $2,991 and have the receipt ! I was going to have the car turned into a fun weekend track-car and put a recaro seat in it and do some work to the suspension but the water pump thing and not having any mechanic around that knows these cars is the reason why it is going .
Also , k&n air filter and newish Cat-back exhaust system !
The Weak part of this car is that it has a salvage title but if you can get past that or want a super great parts car !
The water pump just went out and the car was purring and driving perfect until that happened . I have a 100 % e-bay rating so I am not gonna steer anyone wrong . This is a super car for someone who is a fan and maybe has a mechanic to do the job . I live here in Garberville California ( the car is located just off the 101 ) and there are NO mechanics here that know how to work on this car so I am basically screwed big time . My loss is your gain whoever gets this , good luck .
Car must be paid for within 24 hrs of the end of the bidding
CAR MUST BE TOWED , it will start but you can decide what you want to do after it's yours .... I don't want to cause any damage to anything else .
GOOD-LUCK bidding on this black beauty . Will make a great car with little work
I have seen seats for $200 here on e-bay !

Over $6,000 into this so far so someone is gonna score !

Porsche undecided on new 911 GT2 [w/poll]

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

Fans of hardcore 911s had it pretty good with the last 997 generation. There was the GT3, GT3 RS, GT3 RS 4.0, GT2 and GT2 RS (pictured above). Each one was faster, more powerful and more expensive than the one below it, but what they all shared was what Porsche purists love most: rear engine, rear drive, a manual transmission and little else.
So far with the new 991, Porsche has only released a GT3 version. Sure, there have been other models, but they're all decidedly more luxurious and less performance-focused. And as impressive a machine as the new GT3 is, it has run the risk of alienating some of its most ardent fanatics with technological interference in the form of a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and four-wheel steering. So what those purists have really been looking forward to is a more hardcore GT3 RS or new GT2. But those may not be coming so quickly.
Speaking with 911 project chief August Achleitner, Car and Driver reports that a new GT2 is anything but a foregone conclusion. The reasons may be partially political, but could be technical in nature as well: with 560 horsepower driving all four wheels, the new 911 Turbo S runs the 0-60 in less than three seconds. Give it more power but less traction, as Porsche has done with past GT2s, and you may not end up seeing an actual improvement in performance. A GT2 that's slower than the Turbo S would be difficult to explain.

Porsche 919 Hybrid revives Porsche's factory Le Mans efforts

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

After months of teasing with camouflaged testers, Porsche has finally unveiled its prototype entry for the 2014 World Endurance Championship, the 919 Hybrid. Porsche, you may recall, hasn't had campaigned a factory team at Le Mans in years, so the 919 is nothing less than their recommitment to endurance racing.
Combining a 2.0-liter V4 (yes, a V4) that revs to 9,000 rpm, the 919 produces around 500 horsepower with a pair of energy recovery systems. The first system recovers the heat energy from exhaust gasses as they pass through an electrical generator, while the second system is a bit more familiar. Using a setup similar to what is found on the production 918 Spyder, a generator on the front axle recovers kinetic energy from the brakes, which is subsequently stored in a battery system. That power can then be sent to the front wheels at the driver's command, effectively turning the 919 into an all-wheel-drive racecar.
Despite these various forms of motivation, Porsche doesn't claim to be seeking outright power supremacy, with Chairman Matthias Müller saying, "In 2014, it will not be the fastest car that wins the World Endurance Championship series and the 24 hours of Le Mans, rather it will be the car that goes the furthest with a defined amount of energy. And it is precisely this challenge that carmakers must overcome. The 919 Hybrid is our fastest mobile research laboratory and the most complex race car that Porsche has ever built."

Porsche reveals new LMP1 racecar testing ahead of 2014 Le Mans debut

Wed, 12 Jun 2013

Getting ready for its triumphant return to the premier racing class of Le Mans, Porsche has released a handful of images showing its new LMP1 racecar testing. Porsche hasn't run a car in the Prototype class at 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2009, but this racecar - still veiled in secrecy - will be expected to battle against the Audi and Toyota LMP1 Prototypes to help bring Porsche its 17th Le Mans victory.
Aside from knowing that it will use a hybrid powertrain to meet LMP1 rules, there are no other details about the car... including its name or potential sponsors. In the meantime, Porsche has set up a microsite, called Mission 2014, to share its extensive history racing at Le Mans. Also, be sure to check out some of the past videos Porsche has released as it gears up for its reborn LMP1 program.
