1983 Porsche 944 W/ 53k No Reserve on 2040-cars
Hawthorne, New Jersey, United States
I bought this 944 as part of a package of three of them roughly 5 years ago. This one had sustained a hit in the front left fender. All repairs were made prior to my getting it but I was assured it was just sheetmetal replaced and there was no frame damage. But because the car books so low the insurance company totalled it and that is the reason for the salvage title status.
Anyway, I put together all the docs and took it to a PA Inspection Station to get it registered and titled and it failed because of an exhaust leak, a strut cartridge that was weak and the rear window defogger was INOP. I replaced all three and while at it started to install a new stereo. That was two years and four project cars ago. I am never goping to get around to finishing the stereo install never mind take it back to the DMV and/or ever drive it. I have 32 MV's at present and am liquidating all of them. During my ownership of this car I let my maint guy drive it for almost a year and he had no probs with it. It has been sitting were it s for the past two years and as you see in the pics I bought four dollys from Harbour Freight because I lost the keys. I have since had a locksmith come down and cut me new keys. It runs and drives fine, just need to finish the stereo install and buttom up the dash (1-2 hrs tops) and you will be done. The car is is good mechanical shape. I would rate paint at between a 6-7 (Front left fender, the one replaced/repaired looks awsome, thus showing the rest of the car's paint fade more. In addition, the clearcoat is bubbling here and there, most notably the hood). Interior I would rate at a strong 8 with the drivers seat showing seperations at the stitching. Overall a very decent low milage 944. As with all my auction, $1 gets the auction started and high bid at end wins regardless of price. Good Luck and happy bidding |

2015 Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival
Thu, Aug 13 2015Considered the big kick off of the major festivities surrounding Monterey Car Week, this year's Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival certainly didn't disappoint. For those unable to make it to the California coast, our own Drew Phillips was on hand to snap some of the beautiful vehicles on display for this gorgeous gallery. Held annually at the Monterey Jet Center, the event is always a feast for the eyes by collecting planes, a gang of exotic supercars, and some the top cars crossing the auction block over the coming days, like a Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda convertible. The Ford GT both new and old was a major attendee at this year's party. Among them, the Petersen Museum brought along an original racecar and a GT40 MKIII to promote an upcoming exhibit. The classics were complimented by the latest version that has continued to keep tongues wagging. The GT wasn't the only classic with a modern update there. Singer used the posh event for the North American debut of its stunning restoration of the Porsche 911 Targa. Shelby American was also at the revival for the public unveiling of the 50th Anniversary Daytona Coupe. On the more modern front, Honda was in attendance with the future NSX and one of the McLaren F1 cars that the company's engine powers. For further proof of the ritzy folks that attend this soiree, Pagani and Koenigsegg both had stands to show off their extremely quick wares.
Porsche busts out new Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS
Wed, 19 Mar 2014Baby 911. The poor man's Porsche. That's what they called the Boxster when it debuted some 20 years ago. They said the same of the first Cayman when it arrived a decade later, but they stopped saying it when the latest iterations hit the scene two years ago. That's because Zuffenhausen's entry-level models have long since stepped out of their big brother's shadow and into their own. And that's all the more true of the new Boxster GTS and Cayman GTS.
Based on the Boxster S and Cayman S, the new GTS models benefit from an enhanced 3.4-liter flat six that produces 330 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque in the roadster or 340 hp and 280 lb-ft in the coupe - representing an increase of 15 hp and 7 lb-ft in either model. Both also come with the Sport Chrono package as standard, along with adjustable suspension and 20-inch alloys, blacked out to match the dynamic headlight surrounds and other muted trim.
Those disappointed by the unavailability of a manual transmission in the fire-prone 911 GT3 will be pleased to note that a six-speed manual comes standard, but those enamored of letting a pair of clutches shift themselves seamlessly will want to spring for the optional seven-speed DCT. So equipped and with launch control engaged, the Boxster GTS will rocket from a standstill to 62 miles per hour in 4.7 seconds, while the incrementally lighter, more powerful Cayman will hit it in 4.6. Either way you're looking at a third of a second quicker than the Boxster/Cayman S. There's also a 20-millimeter lowered suspension on offer for track-day enthusiasts.
Playboy reveals its 2013 Cars of the Year
Thu, 20 Dec 2012Vaunted men's magazine Playboy knows that its readers are nearly as interested in cars as they are in the female anatomy... sorry, we thought we could write that with a straight face. Anyway, the buff-book does occasionally fill some of its spreads with sexy metal, to accent all the rest of the sexiness.
To wit, the magazine has unveiled its feature on the 2013 Cars of the Year. Without giving us much in the way of criteria for the awards, nor a clear framing of the categories ("Responsible Ride" is a particularly challenging concept, especially when you consider that the Mazdaspeed3 was the winner), Playboy has nevertheless highlighted what we assume to be it's favorite 12 or 13 (depending on how you count) cars from the 2013 model year.
Headlining the class is the Porsche 911, which Playboy writers single out for having "remarkable electronic voodoo." BMW M5 is named "Slickest Sports Sedan" though the Cadillac ATS then follows on because "we couldn't resist giving the new Caddy a shout-out." The rest of the picks are pretty conventional (save, perhaps, the Honda Fit EV as "Ace Electric"), even if the categories and methodology are fairly wonky. Cruise through or gallery for a taste or check out the full list, here. The site is safe for work, and you can legitimately (this time) say that you were reading it for the articles.
