1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera Coupe 2-door 3.3l on 2040-cars
Olympia, Washington, United States
Stunning 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo for sale. I am the 4th owner and have had conversations with 2 of the 3 previous owners. Originally a California car that came to Washington in 2003. 90,300 miles. New show quality paint job with new carpet kit. I have $20,000 in receipts from previous owners for maintenance done on the car. In the last year an additional $15,000 has been put into it. All receipts are available. Had major service and clutch at 54,000 miles. Received a major engine-out tune up and replacement of all brake pads and sensors at 86K miles. Recent work includes: replacement of all belts, air regulator valve, warm-up regulator, fuel pump check valve, spark plugs, oil and filter, seatbelt, distributor, battery, new high end tires, etc. Have lots of history to include the owners manual.
This car has a salvage title. The second owner bought it as a recovered theft in March 1993 with 32,357 miles. The seats and deck lids had been stolen, but the car has never been in an accident. The car is stock except for the MOMO Montecarlo steering wheel. I have the second owners contact info and he has been accessible and very willing to talk about the car. Issues: The car drips a very small amount of oil. Less than 1 quart in a year. The driver's seat has some small but noticeable splitting on the right side - not enough to replace. No radio. Looks like new inside and out. No rust. Beautiful car! I'm a PCA member. |

Porsche has doubled US sales to women [w/videos]
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Porsche is having a good sales year in the US, with 25,129 vehicles delivered year-to-date coming off the automaker's best July sales ever. That's a 31-percent increase over the same period last year (19,253 deliveries). With year-to-date Panamera sales a surprising 36 percent lower than last year, what possibly could be driving Porsche's sales surge? If you answered Cayman and Boxster sales, you're right. But dealerships are noticing another factor: more women are coming in to buy Porsches, CNBC reports, the bulk of whom picked up new Cayenne SUVs. The German automaker's sales to women in the US have more than doubled in the past two years, increasing from 7 percent to 15 percent. This has helped year-to-date Cayenne sales reach 11,082 - 31 percent higher than the same time last year.
Porsche executives have been trying to tap into the women's market, as evidenced in part by the company's move to pick professional tennis player Maria Sharapova as a brand ambassador. Porsche maintains it has not moved to dramatically change its brand image, but it has shown a number of ads in recent years that uncharacteristically emphasize its vehicles' practicality under the "Engineered for Magic. Everyday" banner - some featuring female drivers.
Be sure to watch CNBC's video report on Porsche's female movement below - you'll also find one of the aforementioned Engineered For Magic ads as well as an interesting case study video on the campaign from ad agency Cramer-Krasselt.
Petrolicious details why the Porsche 911 is something special
Thu, 26 Sep 2013The Porsche 911 is a special car, if for no other reasons than it's been continuously produced since 1964, with nearly every generation regarded as being at or near the top of its class. But why the rear-engined icon has done so well among enthusiasts and regular drivers alike can't always be explained easily. To truly understand the 911, you have to experience the whole package, and that means driving one.
While just about every publication has raved about the Porsche, commercial director, race driver, photographer and 911 owner Jeff Zwart explains to Petrolicious why he was drawn to the legend as a young child, and why he still loves them today.
Zwart's professional and personal life are inextricably linked to the 911, and hearing him talk about the car and its history makes for fascinating viewing. Watch the video below to hear Zwart's story and see him drive a couple examples from his collection: an early 911 and the 964-generation Carrera 4 he won Pikes Peak with for the first time - a car that happens to be equipped with the 959 Paris-Dakar's fascinating torque-split transmission. Enjoy!
The exotic '80s: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus and the Porsche 959
Thu, Apr 9 2015There's no secret that we are big fans of the MotorWeek Retro Review series around here. In an automotive world that often focuses on the latest tech and what's coming in the future, it's refreshing to take a look into the past to get a new perspective. That said, the show is really outdoing itself this time by posting a full episode from the '80s to YouTube, complete with the original, jazzy opening. The video is an absolute standout, too, with drives of some of the best supercars that Europe could offer at the time. Among the now classic sportscars that MotorWeek got to drive are the Ferrari 328, Lotus Esprit Turbo, Lamborghini Jalpa and Autokraft AC Mark IV. There's even a preview that sings the praises of the tech in the Porsche 959. The episode is basically a showcase of most of the exotics from young enthusiasts' walls and school folders during the '80s and is not to be missed.
