Major engine service and transmission rebuild 5330 miles ago at Porsche dealership in Columbus, Ohio. Runs strong, shifts smooth and is very quick. Based on Porsche North America, I am the 5th owner. The car was in Texas and Florida for 15 years before coming to Ohio. I purchased the car from a relative who drove the car very minimal and stored it in a heated garage.

The exterior is in excellent condition and has never been in an accident. All panels are original. The underneath is rust free and very clean. The paint has a beautiful high gloss and there are no dents. There has been some small stone chips, however they have been professionally touched up. All gaps are as factory and doors, trunk, and engine lid open and close as they should. Windshield has no chips or scratches. All lights including fog (front and back) lamps work. Speedline wheels are 8.5 X 18 on front and 10 X 18 on rear are true and in excellent condition. Michelin pilot tires.

The interior is all original except for stereo. The power seats and door panels are tan with black piping. The dash board is perfect with no cracks or wear marks. Original carpeting is again in excellent condition with no wear marks. All gauges and clock work. All interior lights work. The head liner is perfect. Optional factory sunroof opens and closes quickly. The original driver seat left bolster is showing very minor wear but it is original. The factory floor mats are included.

Mechanically the engine and transmission were serviced 5330 miles ago at Byers Imports in Columbus, Ohio. Engine repairs include replacing oil return tubes, cam seals, cam housing gaskets, cam housing cover gaskets, rear main seal and intermediate shaft seal. The transmission was disassembled and all syncros, stops, brake bands and drive blocks were replaced. The 2nd and 3rd gear sets, slider gears and shift coupler were replaced. The car starts right up and idles perfect. The clutch engages smoothly and shifts as it should. The car runs cool and has perfect oil pressure. The air conditioning is not charged.

Less than 800 miles ago the car went through a complete inspection and service by a local certified Porsche mechanic including oil (Brad Penn) change, oil filter and air filter. The valve cover gaskets, alternator, fan housing, belts, boost sending unit, deck lid shock and hood shocks were replaced.

Car comes with factory tool kit, factory air pump, factory jack, and prior owner receipts.

I encourage an inspection, however, it must be done prior to end of the auction. Please email me for any other info or if you would like to talk on the phone I would gladly call you.

Porsche (finally) unleashes full, official details on 918 Spyder

Mon, 09 Sep 2013

Porsche has finally let released all of the details on the 918 Spyder, the German brand's challenger to the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari, after months of leading our poor, performance-loving hearts on. The covers were lifted at the Volkswagen Group night, an enormous precursor to the Frankfurt Motor Show, and include a massive, 11,000-word press release that's attached at the bottom of this page.
The 918 Spyder features a mid-mounted, dry-sump-lubricated, 4.6-liter V8 engine that generates 608 horsepower when left to its own devices. Combined with a trio of electric motors, which produce 286 hp, the total system horsepower for the 918 Spyder rests at 887 ponies. That's less than the McLaren P1 (903 hp) and the LaFerrari (949 hp), but the Porsche is also likely to be a bit cheaper, starting at $845,000, while the McLaren will be in the seven-figure range for certain, and it will more than likely be joined by the LaFezza.
The 918 Spyder counters with a 2.8-second jog to 62, a 7.7-second run to 124 and it will hit 186 in 22 seconds.

Five cursed and haunted cars

Fri, Oct 31 2014

Any kid lucky enough to grow up in Detroit is familiar with the Henry Ford Museum. It's huge, full of shiny things and a great place to take a child and let them burn off some energy. After several field trips and weekend outings however, the dusty concept vehicles and famous aircraft tend to lose their punch for youngsters. As a fifth grader, I was already gazing on the museum's many gems with glassy eyes. On yet another school trip, we made our way to John F. Kennedy's death car, a gleaming black Lincoln limo. The aging volunteer docent told our little group something I had never heard before. "You know, this car is haunted. Several employees have reported seeing a gray presence right here," he said, pointing to the back passenger side seat. I perked up. Now here was something I had never heard before. A haunted car? Sure, it happened in Goosebumps, but this was real life. It made sense, in a way. Cars can be violent, emotional places. That's certainly the case with JFK's limo, as well as the other four cars on this list. And maybe those gut-wrenching deaths can permanently doom a car. 5. Archduke Franz Ferdinand's Graf & Stift Death Limo World War I tends to be a forgotten war, despite being pretty terrible in its own right and setting the stage for the entire 20th Century. The French forces, for instance, lost more lives in the first month of WWI than the US did in the entire Civil War. Everyone who has been through a freshman world history course knows the conflict started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife were shot by a Bosnian anarchist. The crazy thing is, Ferdinand had already avoided an attempt on his life that day, and was actually on his way to the hospital to comfort those who had been injured in the crossfire. One of the would-be assassins simply walked out of a cafe and saw his intended target sitting in front of him where the open-air limo had stalled. The archduke and his wife were shot through their heads and throats. Their deaths would not be the last caused by the limo. Throughout the war and into the 1920s, the limo was owned by fifteen different people and involved in six accidents and thirteen deaths, not counting the 17 million or so killed in the war triggered by the Archduke's assassination. The first person to own the car after the Archduke was an Austrian general named Potiorek, who went insane while riding in the car through Vienna.

Investigators blame speed in fatal Paul Walker crash

Wed, 26 Mar 2014

When the tragic news first came in that actor Paul Walker had been killed in a car crash, family, friends and fans were left searching for answers. They now have at least one key question answered, with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department blaming "unsafe speed" for the fatal accident.
According to a statement released by the LACSD, "Investigators determined the cause of the fatal solo-vehicle collision was unsafe speed for the roadway conditions". The investigation into the November, 2013 crash determined that Walker's 2005 Porsche Carrera GT had been driven by his business partner and racer, Roger Rodas, at speeds between 80 and 93 miles per hour - less than the 100+ mph initially suspected, but still far too fast for the road on which they were traveling, which carried a posted limit of 45 mph.
In the investigation into the death of the Fast & Furious star and his friend, some people were quick to finger the Porsche in which they were riding as the culprit. The Carrera GT does, after all, have the reputation of being a notoriously difficult car to control. But after an exhaustive investigation, law enforcement officials in California have vindicated the car and dismissed any mechanical fault as the cause of the accident.
