Very clean 1986 Porsche 930 turbo with extensive work performed over the past year. I bought the car after it was traded in at a local Lambo dealership; prior owner had the car for about 20 years in the Palmdale area, unfortunately no records but so much work has been done since then hopefully that is not a concern.

Exterior is very clean with mostly original paint in excellent condition. The car is very dry (most of life spent in California high desert) and solid. Interior is also very clean; dash has been re-covered in leather (see photo), headliner replaced and new windshield with seals; original sport seats show some expected wear but very sound. All electrics work including sunroof and clock however stereo is not hooked up; all wiring is in place but speakers and stereo are the units that came with the car and are old - non original. The A/C is also not hooked up, compressor is in place (see photos) and functional. The AC  was not functional when I bought the car and having come from mainly older Porsches it didn't seem a priority to me. The AC can be made functional prior to a sale. Majority of work performed was on the mechanical side and included a top end rebuild (see photos) and many other items, all documented. I do want to be clear that this was not a complete rebuild and did not include repairing a very minor leak (does not drip) at seal #8, fairly common on these cars. BBS 2 piece wheels and new tires with 2k miles on them. All in all I have spent over $17k over the past 15 months and the car is now a very clean, strong performing and reliable car.

$1,000 deposit required within 48 hours, will assist with transporting the car.

Please feel free to contact me for additional information, or local viewing of the car. Please do not be offended if I check you out before handing over the keys for a joy-ride....:)

Porsche offering short-term loans to Macan waitlisters

Wed, 02 Jul 2014

Walk into a Porsche dealer today, place an order for a Macan and you'll be looking at a waiting period of six months or more before you can expect delivery. That may be common enough for high-end European automakers, but the Macan is meant to lure new buyers to the brand, and the waitlist could be enough to deter them from sticking around.
The solution? Offer to lease them a Boxster or Cayman until their new Macan arrives. Shorter in term that the usual new-car lease, these six-month terms are designed to keep buyers from turning their backs, all the while experiencing the kind of vehicle Porsche does best.
Of course it doesn't hurt that the dealer then gets a used sports car to sell again once the short-term lease is up. And we wouldn't be surprised to see some buyers asking to hold on to their mid-engined sports car for a little longer, either.

Porsche's former CEO Wiedeking to stand trial over VW-share manipulation

Wed, 27 Aug 2014

Former Porsche CEO Wendelin Wiedeking (left in the above photo) could potentially be facing some time in the slammer after all. The last we had heard, he and former Chief Financial Officer Holger Haerter (right) had avoided a trial in April due to a lack of evidence. However, an appeals court in Stuttgart has looked at the case again and overruled the earlier decision, finding that the executives should be tried for share manipulation during Porsche's failed attempt to take over Volkswagen in 2008, Bloomberg reports.
The judges in the appeal "list numerous indications that could suggest that there was a hidden decision to increase the stake as they could suggest the opposite evaluation by the lower court," said Stefan Schueler, a spokesperson for the court, in a statement cited by Bloomberg. Wiedeking and Haerter put out their own releases saying that there was no merit to the charges.
The prosecutors allege that Wiedeking and Haerter had a plan to buy up VW stock options in 2008 to take the automotive giant over but hid it from investors. The whole thing was a massive failure and eventually allowed VW the chance to acquire Porsche and forced the two execs to step down. In addition to the criminal investigation, hedge funds have attempted to sue the company multiple times in civil court for the same reason, but they have repeatedly failed.

Amelia Island 2013: Porsche 911 swarms the field marking 50 years of rear-engine goodness

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Perhaps one of the most iconic sports cars in the world, it was no surprise that the Porsche 911 showed up in numbers to the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance. Although the original 911 launched 50 years ago, the original and current models are instantly recognizable as 911s, and since the 911 has a storied racing background, there were probably just as many racing versions of the coupe as there were street-legal versions.
As the show's 2013 honoree, one of the prime racing examples was a 1970 Porsche 911 S raced by Sam Posey. There were so many cars in attendance, we didn't know where to look, but a 1985 911 Speedster concept and a Porsche-owned, rally-ready 911 Type 953 were definitely among the more impressive standouts. As an added bonus, Jacksonville-based Brumos Porsche had many of its classic racecars on display including a beautiful 959.
